Watson 853 - Is It Norco 10/325? (Top voted first)

Updated

I got a prescription for generic norco and it has watson 853 imprinted on it. I was wondering if I am getting the correct medication or if I am being ripped off at this pharmacy? It is yellow.

Is watson 853 indeed 10mg hydrocodone with 325 mg of tylenol?

I would not even call it 'generic Norco'. NORCO is 10mg/325mg hydrocodone/apap made by Watson. Watson 853 is 10mg/325mg hydrocodone/apap made by Watson. Where's the difference? Only the imprint on the tablet and the name on the box or blister pack. It is exactly the same product. End of story. You just don't get the 'Norco' printed on the box is all. Why Watson feel the need to take one of their hydro products and re-brand it at a much higher price I do not know. What you are getting IS Norco. The same product made on the same production line by the same manufacturer. I just don't see the point. Except that if you ask for 'Norco' you pay more money than if you ask for the Watson 853 tablet. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. Same product, even same fillers and binders. You are just paying a bit less, that's all. Another example of 'brandwashing' as practiced in the USA. Maybe Watson are smart enough to know that people will think that just because one of their pills is made to look a little different, they will think they are getting something different, which in this case they are NOT.

Elementary my dear Watson. This pill will provide you in conjunction with a 40oz King Cobra a certain je ne sais quoi. But take two my friend and you can say hello to St peter at the pearly gates while still maintaining your earthly form. Just make sure to drink plenty of water to help your pal daLiver.

Universal Health Care is the only way to go!!! Everyone else already has it!! We are all currently slaves to BIG BIZ and our politicians are owned by them. All Americans will never be healthy till we throw out the lobbyists (bribery) and have our pols answer only to us. Ever wonder why only VERY expensive meds are all over TV! Big Pharma wants your money and your addiction---not for you to be healthy..

Well I have been taking Norco for 15yrs now and consider myself rather educated as to what exactly has happened to this great med over the years. Well originally there was Norco, which was manufactured by Watson. At that time about 2001ish there was Norco and about 2003 it came off of patent, meaning that other manufacturers could make and sell the same med. There were some differences such as the binders and the amount of active ingredient being within 20% of the original brand.

Well the first company to make the generic and funny enough that company was Watson. It was pretty much identical in every way to the Brand except the Brand was yellow and said Norco and the generic was also the identical color but just had a different imprint of Watson 853 but also yellow. Well those YELLOW generics are long gone since the last time those were made was 2012 and were either sold or shelf life expired. Well these were around with many other combinations of 10mg hydrocodone (10/500 ad 10/650 & 10/750 being the most popular). There were initially not as many companies making generics at this until 2011, when the FDA told all the Manufacturers that they could not exceed 325 of Tylenol as they said that people were ingesting too much acetaminophen (Tylenol) as it caused liver damaged. Well it was at this time when Watson stopped making the yellow generics (Watson 853) and also about the time when we started seeing many other manufacturers getting into the hydrocodone generic manufacturing due to the fact that there would be a greater demand of 10/325 due to the elimination of the previous 10/500, 10/650, and 10/750. Here is a list of the most popular manufacturers that make the hydro 10/325.

These include, with the first being Amneal manufactured by Amneal Pharmaceuticals (IP 110), Maybe Pharma (176), Tris Pharma, One (G 037), Mallinkrodt (M367),Rhodes Pharmaceuticals, Inc (RP HPp110), Par Endo Pharmaceuticals among others. Well the all differ in some way when it comes to fillers or the amount of active ingredient which I certainly there most important thing. In any case, out of all the crap that is out there I'd have to go with Watson (Watson 853 white) or Endo (V 3610).

In regards to Post #12's mention of "watson 852", I believe you mean watson 853 which is listed above... I do not think it causes bleeding when:

1) taken properly
2) given the RX by a Doctor for a specific medical reason.

Good luck everyone!

there is no codiene in norco..it is hydrocodone--norco is a combination of tylenol (acetaminophen) and hydrocodone..this equals Vicoden..so 10/325 would be 10 mg of hydrocodone and 325 of acetaminophen, 5/500 would be 5mg of hydrocone and 500 mg acetam. 10/325 would be smaller because less acetam.

I received a white 853 rx. of what was SUPPOSED to be Norco 10/325. I took one and it did not help. After 1 and 1/2 days and no relief I To the internet I went. Sure enough a new company Activa had bought them out. These are useless!!!!!!!Baby aspirin would be better. I am sending some of my pills off to a lab to be thoroughly analyzed.

I take hydros & nucynta, occasionally tramoldol if nothing else is available for major back pain. The trams are 50 mg and I have to take 4 at a time just to get any form of relief. I take the regular dose of the others and it works great.
