I have hydrocodone & meloxicam for TV my shoulder,no i got it operated on,and they told me to take either or,can you tell me which is stronger? ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? Hydrocodone is stronger, since is classified by the FDA as being a narcotic analgesic, which has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Meloxicam, however, is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been using meloxicam 15 mg once per day for RA for more than six years now. I would like to know whether it is safe to use the drug for such a long duration. I can not stop this drug in the present condition. Any data is available on this subject..? Thanks in advance. ## Hi, Joy! Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so yes there may be some issues caused by long term use, such as stomach ulceration, edema, hypertension, congestive heart failure and liver damage. Is your doctor monitoring you regularly? Usually regular exams and blood tests are the best way to keep an eye on things and head off any problems, before they have a chance to get serious. Use of Meloxicam infrequently

I only take Meloxicam when I feel that I need it. Most times I take the 15mg tablet once a week. Does that make my exposure to long term side effects less? ## Hello, Bill! How are you? According to the FDA, yes it would. Long-term side effect risks are usually based on someone taking it regularly for a long period of time, not occasional use. Typical side effects for Meloxicam may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Your response made me feel even better! Tx. ## You are very welcome! I'm glad I was able to help. Please have a wonderful new year! ## Siatic pain...prescribed meloxicam. 15mg .afraid to take it. Side effects are frightening

Hi my doctor prescribed meloxicam 15 mg for me however he had prescribed 7.5 in the past so I take the low dose instead however I still have pain in my hip can I take a OTC pain pill as we'll. ## Hello, Cat! How are you? Meloxicam is a pretty potent NSAID, so it would be best not to combine it with anything else, without your doctor's permission. Have you tried taking the 15mg he has prescribed, now? That might help you pain more adequately. Side effects to this medication may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. ## Hello , hope all is well. My dr has me on 15 mg of Meloxicam for a month now . And I am also on oxcodone/acetaminophen.My question is how long can I take Meloxicam before i should have any cocerns? I was told by anot...

I've been on Mobic for three days now,how long will it take for me to see if it's working. I have severe back problems. ## Hello, Patty! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. The FDA classifies this as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so similar to Advil or Motrin, it should start to have some effect within 15 to 20 minutes of taking it, though it may take about 4 weeks, before it reaches its full level of efficacy in your body. Have you gotten any pain relief, at all, from it? Typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation.

meloxicam & Xljanz

My doctor has prescribed Meloxicam & Xljanz. Are they safe taken together? ## Hi pinnie, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, there are no drug interactions listed between Meloxicam and Xeljanz (tofacitinib citrate). Based off this information alone, I wouldn't have any reason to believe that you couldn't take the two together... especially since your doctor prescribed them both to you at the same time. I can't blame you though for being extra cautious, as there have been who knows how many instances where doctors mistakenly prescribe two drugs that interact with one another. Hope this helps!
