Ran out of meloxicam
2 Replies RSS
I ran out of my meloxicam that I take for severe arthritis and degenerative disc disease. Due to being in the process of changing PCPs I am looking for an ITC comparable to the meloxicam or something that might even work better. I am a lot of pain and am having a hard time moving. To further complicate issues I had gastric bypass surgery 9 years ago and am supposed to be limited in taking NSAIDs. I am currently taking 2600mg of Tylenol two to three times a day and roughly 1600mg of Advil with minimal relief. Please advise. ## Unfortunately, there really isn't anything available over the counter that is a strong, which is why Meloxicam is available by prescription only. Meloxicam 15mg and Ibuprofen 800mg
1 Reply RSS
Could meloxicam 15mg be taken alongside 800mg ibuprofen for RA? My Dr prescribed the meloxicam 15mg once daily. I've been taking the ibuprofen 800mg every 4 to 6 hours. Can I take both or is it safer to just take one? ## Since they are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, you should stick with one or the other. According to NIH reports, doubling up increases the risk of blood thinning, bleeding, and stomach ulceration. Have they both been prescribed by the same doctor? Are you on any other medications?
