meloxicam 15 mg Did my Dr make the right call

I've been taking Meloxicam for about three days now, for wrist pain. I had an MRI and it showed two small cysts in my wrist. The pain is still there, and it's nearly unbearable since I work in production. Should I ask my Dr. For something else, or continue to take it and hope for the best? I've read about melocxicam and it seems to work for people with arthritis, but I have cysts. Did my Dr. Make the right call? ## Hello, Casey! How are you feeling? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. Do you know what type of cysts they are? Is this the only thing your doctor prescribe? Usually, an antibiotic and/or a steroid are used for cysts, to try to reduce their size and get them to go away. Meloxicam is listed by the FDA as an NSAID, it is used to treat pain, fever and swellin...

would it be dangerous if I take my medical marijuana while on a meloxicam prescription? ## Hello, Rummpa! How are you? No, marijuana has not been known to cause any problems or interactions with any prescription medications, so far. That's why so many doctors are in favor of its use. However, combined with the side effects of the Meloxicam, which is classified by the FDA as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, you may experience more dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth than usual. Other Meloxicam side effects may include headache, stomach irritation and increased risk of bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with?

I just started taking meloxicam. My stomach has become extended quite a bit. In my research I have found that patients who have bipolar disorder (like me) have the problem of distended abdomen. The med is taking the edge off my fibro pain, and I want to keep taking it, however, I am uncomfortable and my pants are tight. Is there any treatment for this problem? If I drink more water, will these help? ## Hello, basil46! How are you? Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, so it can cause some excess stomach acid, that may contribute to bloating, but there is also a risk of stomach ulceration, so you should have this checked out by your doctor. According to the FDA, other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, increased risk of bleeding and headache. Your doctor might also be ...

I only take Meloxicam when I feel that I need it. Most times I take the 15mg tablet once a week. Does that make my exposure to long term side effects less? ## Hello, Bill! How are you? According to the FDA, yes it would. Long-term side effect risks are usually based on someone taking it regularly for a long period of time, not occasional use. Typical side effects for Meloxicam may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Your response made me feel even better! Tx. ## You are very welcome! I'm glad I was able to help. Please have a wonderful new year!

I take 7.5 mg. my hands still hurt and are swollen. 2nd day to take them. I scraped glue off a floor for several days and night and my hands and fingers are so swollen and very painful . ## Merry Christmas Joyce, Sorry to hear about the pain in your hands and fingers. Scraping glue off a floor for several days/nights sounds like it would do that to just about anyone though. But I hope you're able to find some level of relief from taking the meloxicam. Based on your description, my guess is that it may be a while before the swelling subsides. However it seems like you're using the right preventative measures w/ a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug to keep it from getting any worse. Have you also considered looking into supplements like Turmeric/Curcumin as a secondary option for...

I took ut for awhile but wasn't feeling right. I went to my doctor & he took me off it right away all together. I feel better. Glad i talked to my doctor ## Hi Tracy, I couldn't agree more with you on the notion that we should be asking our doctors more specific questions relating to whatever medication they intend on prescribing us. Usually patients wait until they experience a problem before bringing somet...

I have been taking Mobic 15MG for 10 days and I can't tell its helping me at all with my inflammation in my back and neck, plus I have a pinched nerve. How long does it take to start working on this? Also I have been taking a prescribed dosage of Potassium Chloride 10MEQ (what it says on the prescription bottle) but been on the Potassium for a few years. Is this a bad combo? Could this be why I'm hurting worse in the shoulders and neck/back of head? Wondering since Mobic increases sodium levels if I should stop taking my Potassium? Please help.. Thanks ## Hello, Tony! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're having. When is the last time you had a blood test done to check your potassium levels? Those symptoms could be caused by your potassium level being too...

How long I can take this without abuse it for anti inflamatory ## Abusing a medication occurs when you keep taking more and more of it to get high, or because you like the effects it has on you, it is not the same as long term use, if you are taking it as prescribed. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and it can cause some problems with long-term regular use, such as stomach irritation, which could turn into ulcers and easier risk of bleeding, so you should consult your doctor on how long it is safe for you to use it.
