Subutex And Withdrawals
(Newest replies first)

You don't have to be in withdrawal to take subutex. Been on it for 6 years. I always read this garbage from people that don't have a damn clue, passing on info they are just regurgitating.

Hi. I've been on Subutex for a week. I am on 8mg atm and I now feel ok but the first few days I had mild withdrawal-sort-of-symptoms, they were in the background. How long would it take to taper if I wanted to stop?

Hi there! My advice would be that you not take any other drug but subutex again. Maybe you went down too fast. I suggest you either take the 2mg, or alternatively take half of that(1mg), and keep on it for a couple of days(say 5 days or so)....once you feel stable on the 1mg, start taking half of that (0.5mg).....take that for a few days or weeks, before totally stopping. I suspect going from 2mg to 0mg (nothing) could be the problem. You have done very well though, beautiful!!! I hope you really achieve this!!!! Good luck....

I started on 8 ml of subutex and I have been on them for 2 months. I then tapered myself to 4 ml, then 2, now this is day 1 of nothing and I am not feeling good. Can I take a hydrocodone? Percocet? Anything to help?

I have slacked down on my Subutex from two every day down to 1 & 1/2. Would that give me severe withdrawals like I'm experiencing now, vomiting blood?

Subutex doesn't have naloxone in it. It works very well for pain and last a long longer.

Kratom Imperial is the best quality but Bali Kratom caps are good too. Different blends and brands are out there but the point is Kratom helped me come off dilaudid 8mg, 3 a day for 3 years. Health food stores carry the Imperial usually. Head shops carry other brands. Or you can order directly from imperial and they will ship it next day to you. It's banned in some states now so i would check the web for your state's law on it. You may have to go a state over to get it. (I don't know) but I had 0 withdrawal. The key is to find the right dose of kratom. The health food store told me 2 pills at a time. The owner of the brand told me 8 because of the dilaudid I was on. 8 was correct for me. Everyone is different.

Hi there! I think it probably depends on what you had been using. Look, I'm a pharmacist and that was my belief too that subutex will not give me any withdrawals! Guess what, it did! These were serious WD! I hold a diploma in Drug Counselling besides being a pharmacist, the irony, yes! I got hooked on fentanyl patch cos I was diagnosed with severe RA and the pain was just too much for me, especially my back! But I decided opiates will definitely cause me more problems than my RA, that's when I started subutex! So I didn't wait long, and I did go into WD, big time!!! Having dealt with patients with WD, I'm confident I know what WD are, and the personal experience taught me even more. In short, it's not cast on stone, some like yourself won't get withdrawals while others might. Also subuxone and subutex are pretty much the same thing, the naloxone in subuxone is just so people don't inject the subuxone. Naloxone is less than 10% bioavailable when dissolved under the tongue so the active ingredient, bupenorphrine is what brings WD!

I would love to know your secret. Cause I just started taking opiates 2 months ago and want to stop but am deathly afraid of withdrawals. I have subs and subutex. I took half too early yesterday and went into precipitated withdrawals. Worst experience ever. Had to go to the hospital only for them to tell me they can't really do anything. I want to quit immediately. What's your key to getting thru withdrawals?

@Dee,

Although I have never had any addiction problems (other than cigarettes), I've had a few boyfriends in the past that have. Suboxone or subutex will help you stop with the coming down off your methadone treatments. (I hear those withdrawals are worse than withdrawal symptoms from anything else) Only problem is that the subs are also addictive. But when you are ready, coming off from those someday will probably be a little more smooth than trying to come off the methadone treatments. If you aren't ever ready, that's ok. You got help in the first place, and that's a step in the right direction. Anything try that is considered as treatment is so much better than choosing to stay on drugs. So be proud of yourself no matter ;-) I do hope I helped you somewhat. I always read through forums like this, and other people that reply are either really judgmental or just plain rude a**holes. So anyone like that- ignore it. You don't need that type of negativity in your life anymore. Especially when you're trying to better it ;-) Keep pushing yourself in that right direction! You can do it as long as you believe in yourself..(that also goes for anyone else who might see this- I didn't even look at the date, so this might not even help you anymore, but hopefully I've helped someone lol) But yay! Happy thoughts- kumbuya- and all that jazz ;-) stay right..stay clean! Peace out! :-)

You need to be feeling withdrawl before you take the sub!!! My husband just did this the other day, he was getting off of fent patch, didn't wait long enough. He said he has never felt so s***ty in his life!!! Also subutex is not something I would recomend taking on a regular basis. I have been told first hand from people who have gotten off of it, that it is worse then opiate WD!! You could make it through the methadone WD by taking subs for a few days. Everyone is different, but I made it through a 12yr Norco WD with 2 8mg strips. My husband made it through fent WD as well. I spread it out, more to.start,and then taking less, and less. I also only took it no sooner then 24hrs. I highly highly suggest, not trading one drug for another!!!! Subs are the devil in disguise if you take them ling term!!! Miracle, if you take temp just for a few days to make it through WD

Hello, tmoney! How are you?

That is correct and thank you for posting. Sometimes, people may feel minor withdrawal symptoms, because Buprenorphine tends to be stronger in gripping onto the opiate receptors, so it kicks out other stuff someone may have taken. But, if doesn't cause the dangerous precipitated withdrawals, in most cases, that people can experience if they take Suboxone too soon, due to the Naloxone that's in it.

The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic that is most commonly used to treat drug addiction, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Are there any questions or concerns?
