I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.

Hi All:

Just saw a new GYNO. She tells me Prolia works just like Actonel and Fasomax. It prevents old bones from being removed from our body. She said since I had trouble with Actonel and Fasomax, I never should have been put on such a powerful drug like Prolia.

Who do you believe? When I was told I needed to go on Prolia, I visited four doctors, telling them all my problems with Actonel and Fasomax. They all said, Prolia is NOT like the other drugs. If you get side effects they will be little to none.

Every time I speak with a new doctor, pharmacist, etc. I get a new story, is anyone regulating what is going on here? I don't know who or what to believe anymore.

Just saw a feature on this site of 1/2 life of drugs. See the right column, under DRUGS scroll down you will see 1/2 life. You can calculate how long a drug is in your system. When I asked my ENDO how long Prolia is in your systems she told me TWO WEEKS, the Pharmacy told my Two Weeks to 21 Days. If anyone could figure out what is going on, let me know. Amgen says Six months. Side effects just don't go poof at six months.

Let me take a moment to ask all of you to call: AMGEN 1-800 772-6436 and the FDA 1-888 463-6332.

I received the same advice after having so much pain with fosamax then Bonita. Doctors told me prolia will not give me the terrible heartburn and bone aches I was getting from them once a week, then once a month. I took 2 shots of prolia before I wised up thanks to this site and people like Pood, giving advice and comfort to keep carrying on.

Kitty~MDs and pharmacists are not geological scientists per se so they would know little about half lives. When you see a show with real scientists wanting to determine an approximate age of something very ancient that was grown on this Earth or made from something grown on our Earth they use carbon dating. That tells them how much carbon is left in the object. Humans too are grown on this Earth so we are carbon based too. Prolia is made from ovaries of Chinese Hamsters so it is carbon based too. It simply means there will always be a molecule or two left in us of Prolia until we die. It won't be sufficient to cause any problems. Scientific fact. This goes for dating any dinosaur pieces found to ancient Egyptian 'paper' to ancient cloth, books, as they were all made from what was grown on Planet Earth and were at one time alive on Planet Earth. Amgen states the half life of Prolia to be 16 days so you can do the math. Amgen also states we should be doing much better in month 5 and they also state that Prolia goes "Poof' in the 6th month. I was doing better in the 5th month but I can tell you honestly that in over a year and a half of one inj. I still have some side effects from Prolia with my major side effect being my spine. It did something to the bones in there that are still extremely painful. I also still have pain in the muscle going up my neck in the arm where I received the inj. It has lessened 75% but still there. My Dr. did not do the inj. correctly. End of the day. She was tired so just grabbed an arm and stuck it straight in - NOT subcutaneously as it is supposed to be given. This is also the arm where I am not even supposed to even have blood pressure taken as it's on the side of a total mastectomy with every lymph node removed. How many ways can something go wrong. She has apologized all over the place and tells me how sorry she is that she made me take it even though I did not want it. I am supposedly her only patient with problems. Not sure I believe that one either. I am happy on Calcitonin and just had a major fall with zero broken or disturbed. Got a little bone bruise was all. That's a very good record for someone that was a -3 in bone density. It works slowly but it works and I am very faithful with it. Mom used it and never broke another bone in her life and lived to 96. She could not even shut the door because a rib bone would snap. She also lived independently in her own home. All we had to do was buy groceries and pay the bills for her as she could not see well in her 90's. She had a lady that came in and cleaned. She fell a lot and could always find a way to get back up with zero broken bones.

I have had 3 shots of prolia and a month after my last shot I have developed a scaly itchy rash on my leg, arms and chest as well as my scalp. I also have enlarged taste buds on my tongue and sore spots on the roof of my mouth. This causes painful eating. Certain foods cause stinging . I have also lost my sense of taste. The scalp problem started about a month after the 2nd shot. My question is, will this go away if I stop prolia and how long will it take. I'm also not even sure if it is prolia that caused this. However it's the only "new" drug I've been on for the last 2 years.

Don't believe that Prolia is just like any other bone medication. It is bad and
will mess your entire system. I am still having trouble from Prolia and I have been
off of it for almost 2 years. It is a nasty drug.

Your doctor and pharm are VERY stupid. If the drug effect last for 6 months and is given every six months or so there is NO way it is out of your system in 2 weeks.. you don't have to be a scientist to understand that. LOL

I just noticed on the leaks that HRC took money from BIG Pharma to get their product passed the FDA. I truly believe that to be the case with Prolia. We all know it's a horrid poison that stays in our bodies for years after it is supposedly gone at the 6th month mark. Could she really be one of the reasons we are all suffering with Prolia. Amgen paid Clinton Foundation lots and lots of money to get their drug passed by the FDA? The FDA is now trying to keep up with all of our side effects that were not listed on the original studies. Hopefully, with sufficient pressure, we can get it off the market. Be well all~Pood

Judy~Please go to your Dr. for Pred. for the skin rash and to your dentist for your mouth problems. Prolia has caused people to have fungal infections in their mouth. This could be what you have but you have to have it checked out. Prolia also causes cancer so please just don't sit around and wait for them to get better because they will not. They will continue to get worse until you receive the proper treatment to help with the negative reactions to Prolia. Be well~Pood

RM~has a MD run a complete lab workup on your Mom like for pre-surgery? I doubt it. Start Mom with 500mg of Magnesium every night at bedtime of her life from now on and for 5 days take a pure salt tablet. That may relieve some of the damage that Prolia has done to her. If that fails, get back with me please. I know when I went to my Primary and he did all the workup, he commented it is unusual for a person my age to be so perfect. I guess he cannot read as I have it all written down in with the meds I take. Sometimes I think our Docs are getting their licenses to practice Medicine at Disneyland. Pood (notice the word PRACTICE)

RM~there is also a lady immunologist in Billings, Montana. That is what we all really need as Prolia messes up our bodies so badly. Hopefully, you can find one closer to you. Pood

I have been to both my GP and dentist. My GP gave me meds for a fungus infection to see if it helped...it didn't. My dentist has no idea. I saw my obgyn dr today who had prescribed it. She has told me to stop and now has to decide, once I have my bone density what the next step may be. The blood test for cancer was negative. In the meantime my GP has referred me to both a ENT doctor as well as a dermatologist who she wants to have them do a biopsy. Of course, I suppose there's no sure way of knowing if, in fact, this is caused by prolia! I am fortunate to be living in a large Canadian city with top- notch medical facilities. Stress , I know, can cause very strange things. I have been dealing for 4 years now with a husband who has had 2 strokes, an ablation and now a hernia which they can't decide on whether to operate due to the fact that he's on blood thinners. Of course listening to the American political news right now is not a calming factor either!!!

HRC is not responsible for prolia. That is really a crazy statement. The wiki leaks are being manufactured by Russians hacking into the system so most of what has been leaked probably has 0 truth to it.

POOD! Funny your mention of "practice" in a recent post! I have a family member who's in charge of the doctor's office where my dad was prescribed his deadly shot of Prolia. I had mentioned that I didn't think the doctor knew what he was doing, her reply was "Well, that's why our office is called Family Practice, because they are "practicing"! You think I wasn't mad? And that is truly the name of the office! No, I don't talk to her any more than necessary after that.

I found on FDA's site - Drugs & Devices - Amgen has made 36,330 payments totaling $5.35 million to doctors (If you choose to call them that) to inject innocent patients with the poison drug prolia. It is evident that they value the almighty dollar much more than patients health. Whatever happened to the oath they took! Oh yes, you can get valuable info from propublica. The chief medical officer at Amgen makes over 6 Million a year. Now isn't that just peachy......Getting paid to inflict pain & suffering.

They do get a degree to Practice Medicine. We are supposed to believe they know what they are doing. When Celiac came back I had a heck of a time convincing my stupid Dr. He says: Well, the test does have a 10% chance of error." I replied: You have just met one of those 10% chances of error. He shut up and went away. Now my file says: Diarrhea resolved on gluten free diet. I know they are much better in large cities where some of my friends live. I think we get the worst of the lot because people don't want to live here unless they are totally outdoor sportsmen and then they are happy.

Interesting! I too lost my sense of taste. Had never linked it with Prolia!!!! Hmmmm. Thank you. At least now I don't think n I'm losing my.mind. going on two years since injection and still having residual issues. P. Is scary stuff. And it didn't even help bones as I had hypercalcemia caused by a parathyroid tumor iin turn causing bone loss. Prolia was the wrong thing to do to me. It could have never helped with the bone loss.

Re your loss of taste, how soon after your injection did you notice it? In my case it was about 2-3 months but I also developed very enlarged taste buds on tongue. Specially at the back so that when I do eat, I get a very bitter taste in my mouth. Also any spicy food stings. My lips are also very itchy and sore. Not to mention the itchy scaly bumps on my legs, arms and chest! I have come to the conclusion that women are treated as Guinea pigs when it comes to anymedical testing of new drugs. First it's HRT , vaginal estrogen , and bone medication. They've now questioned HRT, estrogen, calcium tablets and some bone meds. etc. Meanwhile most long term studies on medical conditions (I.e heart disease) are done only on the prognosis for men! I'm sick of being a Guinea pig and I am seriously thinking of not taking any further medication for my bones. I'm upping my exersize , eating more calcium rich food and thumbing my nose at these mainly male dominated drug companies!

Kitty~I only had one that told me the truth and it was too late as I already had the injection. He said: "Be very careful now as your immune system is compromised." At that point I just replied that I always use alcohol on my hands and anti-bacterial soap. Uhhhh! What about the AIR Pood?????? About a week later the side effects started in.
