Prolia Side Effects (Page 102)

I would like to know of any side effects others may have experienced after receiving Prolia infusions. Up to now I have none.
Thank you Pood, I am so glad I found this site and you, you keep pushing me a long giving me hope, maybe when weather gets warmer, the aches will ease up a bit, just glad you are feeling better and there is hope I will too someday.
Don't let these doctors tell you that the side effects that you are experiencing are not from Prolia. They all are and they get a "kick back" from each shot they give so don't take any chances. This is not a good medicine to take for bones.
@healingtree if your doctor was "sharp" and had your best interests at heart he would never have given you prolia period- this is a dangerous drug. There have been 4-5000 deaths believed to be caused reported to the FDA since prolia has been on the market. I'm sure the numbers of people with side effects is also high but many like everyone here are told their side effects aren't related, even though those side effects are listed, and they believe what they're told, or at least pretend to.
Sheri~there is an end to it. Yours may be a whole year after your last injection because you had two. I promise there is life after this. It's just getting through all the side effects that is terribly difficult. I am very close to a year and still have a couple of little problems. They could easily be solved if I felt more like going and doing. I'm still dealing with the new hip I had put in after the 6th month was up. Yes, I know they delete things and then change a word or two and then post it. I don't understand but it is not my site nor am I the administrator. I think they want very truthful information as many MDs come here to find answers on a new medication. Sad more of them don't. I too had cancer in 92 and had what you did (usual course of treatment), fell year before last and broke my hip in 4 places and my back. Truthfully, it hurt a lot less than Prolia and my bones did heal like they are supposed to. I spent 6 whole weeks in bed. Big deal! My Doc apologized all over the place for pushing Prolia on to me. She knew she made a big mistake and told me I have every right to hate her. She did her best to mitigate the damage from Prolia but it was a little late in the game. I was the 'perfect' person, I guess, as Amgen told me I would get better in month 5 and I did so when month 6 arrived I started in on the surgeries that had been on hold. I will take Salmon Calcitonin again for bones and that's as far as I'm going on that route. I would love Evista but with previous cancer it's out of the picture. I got through this nightmare and so will you. Just deal with it a day at a time and know in your heart of hearts that it will end for you too and there is a bright future. Unfortunately the bone we built up will disappear or mine already has. It's okay as it is not good healthy bone. It's brittle bone that easily breaks. Hugs~
FYI: New posting on FDA site Prolia. Labeling revision. Approved 3/2/16. Posted 3/3/16.
Actually my doctor is very kind, and I think very sharp - much more than many, and he keeps a close eye on me. I could put up with some pain, even have put up with a lot of pain - but when it goes on and on and on - - I don't think so. He is setting me up with an endocrinologist. I just read that they have had a wonderful trial (but small) with great results using human growth hormone. But it is too expensive. Well, that is the U.S. for us. And I don't want to die over a broken hip - the mess with my wrist was awful, and I had a miracle working hand and arm surgeon that I will always be grateful too. Acupuncture seems to have alleviated my falls for over a year now. I plan to update with a few sessions. But yes, we desperately need something to stop this process of bone degeneration, but something that is not dangerous to a few - - and I've read so many, many bad reports that I'm wondering if the numbers of those suffering greatly from side effects are much higher than anyone knows.
Hi Pood, last time I have been to Dr. my blood pressure has been fine. I never realized my ankles swelling was due to Prolia. After my first shot and taking the pills my ankles swelled my Dr's thought it was due to my bulging varicose veins, so I subsequently has vein surgery on both legs. But after second shot it happened again and I knew it was from shot. I wear support stockings to help with the edema and diuretics to help it further. I have been through cancer, chemo, radiation and at least there was end in sight there but this seems to be we are doomed for so long of suffering.
I sent you a long answer and they said it has to be reviewed I didn't say anything off the wall
Whenever I have gotten my blood pressure taken it is good, I wear support stockings and even had my protruding varicose veins taken out because Dr. thought my swollen ankles were from poor circulation in legs. That was over a year ago. After second shot my ankles blew up again, it was then that I realized everything was first shot. Unfortunately, I didn't realize after first shot all my issues were from that and like an idiot I took another one. Thank goodness I went to a new GP who told me DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG. Now hopefully not too late I learned my lesson. I am not taking anything. I will get my flu shot and that is it. I have been through cancer, chemo and radiation and at least they had an end, this seems to be no end in sight. It is very depressing to not feel well everyday for so long.
Dear healing tree: You cannot get a single doctor that prescribes Prolia to admit that what you are experiencing is not due to Prolia. It is due to Prolia and you should never take another shot. I quit taking the shots and my doctor has never called to find out what happened to me. I think he already knows because I had complained to him and he said that Prolia would not cause rash and all the side effects that I had. It is strange because I am treating the rash and it does seem to be a little better. The people that make the Prolia even told me that they were getting a lot of complaints and so you see it is not a good medicine to take.
No - Doctor said it *swelling and yellow skin) wasnt Prolia but after 7 months I was back to normal except now have high calcium on blood test that is new.
I am somewhat better Still have episodes of burning bone pain - my calcium levels are high, i have constant tinitus and reoccurring bouts of painful bursitis in my hip. I started Prolia at age 70 and never had bursitis before. I have not felt well since my prolia injection and my doctor is insisting that I take something. He says all side effects I think I'm having are not from Prolia, but they did start after Prolia. He said I should suffer a little discomfort to help my bones. I think pain is a warning signal and when my bones were burning I did not feel it was a good sign.
no, my doctor said it wasnt from Prolia and even if it was I would have to endure some side effects to get benefit. I told him I could not live my life with the amount of pain that was generated beginning two weeks after I started Prolia. He has recommended I see an endocrinologist.
Canadian~the mouth is good news at least. You need to call your Dr.'s office and ask how to contact Health Canada. They are your version of our FDA. They are the people that regulate drugs in Canada. I tried to give it to you but it was deleted. I'm sure a nurse knows and maybe even a receptionist. In a way the Dr. is correct. The leg (thigh) fracture is NEVER supposed to be with one injection BUT you have it so there is only ONE CAUSE whether they like it or not -- PROLIA. If they believe it was not Prolia, what was it? You were not in an accident or hurt yourself skiing or playing in the snow. Nor did you fall down a flight of stairs. Tell them to go read their information on Prolia and ask if you have to hand feed them medical knowledge. Use those words. That's not nice but it does get the point across. I don't think you want Forteo either. I believe they have had numerous class action suits against the manufacturer. If you can have it, Evista is good as it is hormones and builds good bones like when we were young and Salmon-Calcitonin is good. It's not fast but it does work. Drs. like to say it does not as it is not new or expensive. My mother used it for years and never broke another bone and I noticed on my bone scan that my numbers were better with it. I'm going back on it. Skittie sure was correct about Prolia killing people. What a terribly sad event. Do you know in what country she lived? You will get through this with a lot of help from your friends, here. Please get or borrow a crutch and keep as much weight as possible off of that leg. Get well and stay well! Hugs~Pood
Poodle, haven't you seen a posting by Judith that her mom killed by Prolia after received 6 injections. Under the heading "Side effects following Prolia" 17 postings. Another innocent and helpless victims. My best prayer for Judith's family (Costa Rica).
To my understanding from all the doctors, they just neglected all the side effects caused by the Prolia even though they know the possibility of these serious side effects. They even think our side effects are minor and can be dealt with easily. I got quite angry now and would look for reporting to FDA. The Prolia is uncontrollable when it went into your body. I have been suffering for more than 5 months and definately will be getting longer - Plus the fracture of my thigh leg that make me suffered so very much.
Poodle, the Dentist did check the muscle and the teech, they are ok and not looseing . No need to do a special x-Ray ONJ now. The sore feeling of my jaw disappeared when I came to see him. Look like the sore jaw has been released a bit if I filled up with calcium and vitamin d. You really don't know what damage will be coming due to this nasty.
As for my fracture, the CT scan showed (less than 1/2 round) crash that doesn't need to do surgery. I made the choice of let it heal without taking any medication. He said, After 6 months, if it is not heal, then I can try the Forteo. My goodness, I would not trust any of the osteo. drugs anymore. The doctor admitted this fracture may be caused by Proia but did not believe Prolia give us such side effects. Any of the side effects should be dealt with ourself. All of the doctors said we are the very small amount of having the side effects, some of the discomfort feelings it may not be caused by Prolia. I told them I didn't have all these side effects before Prolia. This was very fracturating when you wanted to seek help from them. Sorry, my English is not good and hope you understand what I wanted to write. I may
Canadian~have you been to your Dentist yet to find out what is hurting in your mouth or muscles around your jaw? Pood
healingtree~when you write you were puffed up, may I please ask with what? Sheri is feeling the same way and wants to use water pills. Yours sounds like the kidneys were not processing water quickly enough or do you know the exact reason you puffed up so we can help Sheri? I'm worried about her taking water pills as they can affect her blood pressure. Thank you~Pood
