Pharmacist Refusing To Fill My Script Of Suboxone. What Do I Do??? (Page 3)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I wet to my doc 7 days early because of running out early. I took my new script to pharmacy and said, this is early so I won't be using insurance. My doc said you can call him if necessary. Well no one wanted to. They filled two per day for three days. On the third day I asked to fill the rest on insurance for the next day. I was one day early. When I called the next morning to have my daily two filled the pharmacy manager said no we won't be filling it for another 5 days. Go to the ER for your withdrawals but don't come here because I won't give it to you. Has this happened to anyone else????

Jerry, I have to agree, you can go back to your doctor but the fact remains, you had a consultation with him, he is NOT going to refund your money, all because you can't find a pharmacy to fill your script. He may however, be able to help you find a pharmacy who can help you? All you can do is ask. I live in Australia by the way, i never fail to be be amazed at the stories I hear coming out of the US about the trouble people have getting their hands on this stuff!! We have it really good here in Australia, IF that is, you treat the system right, then they treat you right. Act like a junkie, shifty behaviours, drug seeking doctor visits etc, then they will treat you like a junkie.

Drug addict or not sub def works for pain--not a pharmacist but if i recall correctly it is in the same family as the pain med Stadol. I have had good pain relief when but is stabile from sub-- but on pain man for Severve pain, but i think for people w arthr or that cld be managed w like vicodin subox would provide longer & more stable relief. Imho...even if the poster is a desperately addicted person or not we cant judge...or shldnt imho people asking for asvice because if it is legit they need help & if addict, then no amnt of sob story or bs will fly w the er or pharmacist just mho

Never usually run out early. I wasn't expecting to be out of town as long as I have been. So therefore I miss my doctor's appointment and have not been able to get ahold of him. And I do however have my prescription bottle and then they it was filled... And I also called my pharmacist and she said if I did go to the ER they could contact her so she could verify. But she wasn't quite sure if they would do it or not. I'm experiencing a high fever due to other personal issues so I am in a lot of pain. But I do not want to be admitted to the hospital. I also read something about the 3 Day rule. I didn't quite understand it if you have to be admitted or not or if they just write you a 3-day prescription. I'm so Restless I haven't slept in 2 days. Thank you for your reply if you have any more information it would be appreciated. I'm scared... I've never been in this situation

I think its appalling that a patient has to put up with pain and get treated like a drug addict too.
There is nothing more demoralising and shameful.
Everyone is entitled to be pain free and to be treated with respect when they need meds.

Away from hone, I doubt it because no one is going to take your word for that you are prescribed Suboxone. Why did you run out ? This is not the type of med that you don't check to be sure you have enough when you go out of town.

I feel for you. Why did you run out though? I would never plan a trip or go anywhere unless I knew I had enough to see me through. I guess you could try an ER, they would definitely want to be ringing your prescribing doctor though to confirm, they are most certainly NOT going to write you a script just as a one-off. Give it a go though... Good luck to you.

I am out of town. I live in Florida and I am currently 3 hours or so from home. I have ran out of my prescription of Suboxone which is 8 mg. I'm really scared and nervous it has been 2 days. I'm currently experiencing withdrawals haven't been able to leave my bed. I have heavy nausea. I need to know if I can go to a ER or a hospital?? And be able to receive some suboxin or maybe a prescription. I will be back home in a week. I really need some knowledge on this. Please someone help... With my question. Thank you

Jayb, suboxone doesn't work well for most people with chronic severe pain. I am glad that it works for your wife. There are a lot of drs that won't take a patient that has been prescribed suboxone for pain because it is mainly used for drug addiction maintance. If a dr prescribes suboxone for drug addiction, they have to attend special training and go by certain rules. If they prescribe suboxone for pain only they do not.

To the people saying suboxone isn't prescribed or made for pain that's absolutely false my wife is on suboxone not for drug addiction but for pain for her arthritis and it works well for her. So yes suboxone is used and can be used for pain I'm sure everyone is different so whether it would work for your pain or not depends on the person

There isn't a set fill date, it's entirely up to the pharmacist. There are really no federal laws that say when a pharmacist should or shouldn't fill a script...it also varies from state to state. I live in northwestern PA and the majority of pharmacies here won't fill your script of suboxone until 85% of your script is gone. I get 60 8/2mg strips and I can fill it every month on the 26th day ...so the 26th-30th is 5 days. Some people have commented that "well if you used it as prescribed you wouldn'tneed to fill it early" that's b.s." stuff happens I'm bipolar and I have real bad insomnia that lasts about two weeks give or take and if I'm up for 24 to 72 hours at a time I take an extra half at night when I'm up by myself with nothing to do that way I don't sit here and think about the things I use to do and then on the days my insomnia isn't bothering me I can get by on one to one and a half a day to balance the script out... I've never had to fill early but I can see how or why some people would need to... it doesn't excuse the ones that abuse it and run out early because they abuse them on purpose though. It's a waste anyways because of the ceiling effect. I know people that take way more then they should because they think they need it but it's just a waste the more you take the less it works in a sense you're just wasting doses. I will say I wish I lived in Australia for a 30 day script is only 25 that's crazy for my script of sixty 8/2mg strips it's 372 thats only because my home town pharmacy is the cheapest everywhere else is 400-600. Luckily I have here to help paying for it. FOR THOSE WITHOUT INSURANCE LISTEN GO AND GOOGLE HERE TO HELP program AND CALL THEM EVERY DOCTOR IN AMERICA IS ALLOWED THREE PATIENTS EVEN IF THE DOCTOR KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT THE PROGRAM IT'S NOT UP TO THEM AND THEY DON'T NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT TELL THEM YOU HAVE NO INSURANCE AND YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING HERE TO HELP THEY WILL SEND YOU PAPERS FOR YOU AND DOCTOR TO FILL OUT AND THEY WILL NEED YOUR PROOF OF INCOME JOB OR UNEMPLOYMENT OR ANY OTHER way YOU EARN AND THEY WILL NEED YOUR MOST RECENT TAX RETURN. HAVE YOUR DOCTOR FAX ALL THE INFO TO HERE TO HELP WITHIN A COUPLE hours OF HERE TO HELP RECEIVING FAX UP TO 24 HOURS YOU WILL BE APPROVED AND CAN PICK UP YOUR SCRIPT FREE OF CHARGE FOR A YEAR AND AFTER A YEAR THEY WILL GIVE YOU AN EXTENSION. Sorry for the all caps but I wanted everyone who pays out of pocket for script to see this. Trust me its great, they will pay for a 30 day supply every month no charge to you at all. Its a suboxone program. It's worth it. Whether you get 15 a month or 90 a month they will pay for it. I know how frustrating it can be to not know if you can pay for your script or worry about how many you can afford and making them last so please call and they will help, they are very nice.

House that is where you are wrong, they do not work for us and you as you put it, first of all they work for them self then they work for the store.. definitely they do not work for you, besides by law they do have the right to refuse you your meds, especially when they see you are trying to get them before the due date, that is what gives them the idea that you are abusing your meds, if you have rough days then talk to your doctor explain that at times you might take another pill and ask if maybe instead of 30 if he can prescribe 35 for those days and that way you should not have any problems with your pharmacist. I've been on pain meds narcotics for over 5yrs and i used to have same problem with insurance not approving meds or anyother reason that at times i would go 1month without my meds. Then one day i was referred to a pharmacy names IWP since then I have no worries, i overnight the prescription in there provide prepaid envelope's and they overnight my meds to me by ups at my door. They handle all the paper work after one thing is they will not let you go without your meds. I give them a 10 for there cust service and there pharmacist which are all awesome.

What pharmacy does that? I'm on Duragesic and Dilaudid...go to Walgreens, and I'd probably slap someone for acting a Pharm God...but they know I'm a Bail Agent, and always fill my scripts later than the very first day they can get them filled. In also a Certified Addiction Specialist working in Opioid Addiction. When your there, early the first day you can fill them after calling and bothering them...THATS drug seeking behavior. They can report that to your Drs. Just letting you know!!!

I have done that. Just last week I was 6 days early so I paid cash for the 6 days. They had to call my doctor and he told them it was ok. On the 5th day I called to get them filled and the store filled them. CVS and walmart would have never did that.
