Pain Clinic Dr. No Bupe For Chronic Pain.
UpdatedPain clinic Dr. saw me after I self detoxed from a ten-year chronic pain situation that had elevated oxycodone daily use to 8...30 mg tablets at another pain clinic. I had been diagnosed with OIH (opioid induced hyperalgesia) two months prior and opioids only caused more pain.
My opioid use has always been solely for pain and had never been abused in any way. I detoxed with hopes of lower drug usage. This Dr. after his 8 hr deal to prescribe suboxone (knows nil about this complicated drug). Anyway he put me on 16 mg. I asked for subutex he complied. I have lowered dosage to 2 mg. by cutting my buprenorphine tablets.
At 3 months he refuses to prescribe any further stating that the DEA will be on his door step as I'm not a drug addict,,, they will not allow him to treat for pain.
I need advice as this is the only thing that has helped me as I had become very ill on the oxycodone (I am 82 years old). I had severe body-wide pain with central pain for 42 years after a brain tumor. The Dr. only had oxycontin to offer me..I could not bring myself to go back to that terrible place in my life.
Can any Dr. prescribe buprenorphine for chronic pain??... in MS.
