I was an OC abuser then start doing IV now I occasionally swallow half of an OP. Big change. I love all of the above, at least now I don't spend more then I pay in rent on recreational activities.

Haven't tried myself, but have been told that you drop an OP in a glass with Alka-Selzter (yes, pop pop fizz fizz, oh what a relief. . .) you can actually watch the polymer vacate itself from the pill. You then micro for 30 seconds to dry. The shred up somehow, a ped egg, fine rasp whatever means available to you. You can then put in a straw or spoon. So I am told. I'm curious if it works, I just don't want to go back, I've come too far. Good Luck

I came to this site to find out about the new Oxycontin OP's.I noticed that one person (sorry, can't remember their username)was lashing out and being critical due to the abuse of Oxycontin. This person explained that they were dealing with a life threatening illness and seemed to be pretty resentful and bitter about those who are abusing this med. So, I would love to know what even brought this person to this particular forum/website???I also live with debilitating pain myself, I'm TRULY disabled because of pain and I will not go into everything, but I am now in my early 40's and I was awarded Social Security Disabilty benefits in my late 30's....I didn't even need to get an attorney because I wasn't turned down. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for the income that I receive monthly, but I would much rather be working.
With all of that being written, I have the Intrathecal Narcotic Pump. I have Dilaudid in it and I had to go through a whole lot of stuff to actually get the thing....but I am not at the proper rate yet....so, I do need pain relief from oral meds. Why did I have to go for a Psychological Examination so that I could get the pump? Just to make sure that I'm not a drug seeker or an "addict", because of the huge problem with drug abuse and drug seekers . This is mandatory for all patients who are considered for the pump.In the past, I have also been discriminated against or better put....judged by medical personnel all because I need pain relief. But I am certainly not bitter towards anyone at all who chooses to do whatever they choose to do with Oxycontin. Why should anyone be???To the person who was so angry and bitter because they couldn't get any pain meds, blaming people who are abusing meds.I just don't understand, if you are living with debilitating pain, then why aren't you receiving an RX for pain relief?Makes me wonder about WHY you aren't getting them. Why are you denied pain relief? There has to be a reason. And by the way, I am pretty young and there are days that I have to use my wheelchair and every single morning I have to use my walker after I get out of bed....I have so much hardware in my lower back that I can not walk because of the pain from laying in bed for the whole 3 to 4 hours of sleep that I get.If anyone has any reason to be angry about others abusing meds and making things difficult for Chronic Pain Paitents, that would be me, okay? But I am not at all. I will admit that I have crushed and snorted pain medication because it was stronger via this route. Why would I do such a thing??? Becuase I have had a stroke due to high blood pressure.....my blood pressure was 232/156 due to severe pain that went untreated for a little while. Did I get resentful?? No.
I came to this website hoping to find out how to crush up the Oxycontin 80's for better pain relief.
So, to anyone out there who is resentful, bitter, angry, etc,. because they believe that the reason that they are not receiving proper pain relief via oral pain meds., check yourself and be very careful of judging so harshly. For those of us who are Chronic Pain Patients, we know all too well how difficult it is to get an RX for oral pain meds. The lady who asked how to be able to get the Oxycontin OP's to crush up, got the RX from her doctor and she chooses a different route of administration than orally and I can completely understand why she would....because if taken by mouth, they arent' working well enough. For those of you who take this medication by mouth and it works well for you, then great, but don't judge someone who isn't receiving enough pain relief if taken by mouth.If anyone is buying them "off of the street", then guess what? They got them from one of us.It is pretty difficult for doctors to be writing scripts for pain medication without the medical proof, such as MRI reports, diagnosis', etc....they are all under a microscope because when the Oxycontin's came out in the beginning, there were doctors writing scrpits to patients that they had an agreement to sell them and the doctor would receive a profit from it.
And before I am judged for having an Intrathecal Narcotic Pump and wanting to snort pain meds....I am not at the proper rate yet.The rate it extremely low and I can't get into the clinic until the end of December. The rate that I am at wouldnt' help anyone at all out.

The new oxi's are like a very hard gel like candy. Because of the hard gel like texture you can't cut them and if you crush them you get a chewy hard candy disc. If you do chew it, it will hurt your teeth and won't make a difference in how the med gets delivered. There will be a lot of sick people in your community. I hope you will be kind to them as it wasn't there fault wait to you hear about the Dr. who went down or the Teacher in your daughter class goes down. Maybe you won't be so shocked and horrified by these human beings that made a mistake and get them to Methadone clinic or doctor. (Look on the Internet or even some phone books.)

I have 50mg mallinkrodt fentanyl. They are tooo thick to suck the medicine from. Any sugg.

You said it. I've been in pain mgmt. for 25years at the same clinic for 25 years . At my last appt. I was taken off one of my breakthrough drugs for no reason never had a dirty urine been a role model patient . They didn't wean me off or warn me very heartless why don't the government pick on people with felony records and leave us Americans that worked full time for 27 years taking care of patients I got hurt lifting a patient I should of dropped her instead of saving her from more pain thanks for making our country communist.
