Have you found anything? I'm here searching for places to try. I thought it might help as it's the first of the month.
No; I thought same. I'll keep you posted if I find and where. Please do same for me. Very scared to "switch" meds. After over 7 yrs of having some relief with these, I'm nervous about other ones... Their effectiveness, the side effects, etc.
Please keep updated and I'll do same.
Can your pharmacy provide you with oxycontin? If so, and you are that miserable you should call and have your doctor switch you, it's the exact same medication just time released. From what I've read pharmacys all over Florida are not selling the others because they are so widely abused, apparently some folks like them better because they can snort them, while they can not snort oxycontin so it's not as abused.
I sent mine out in the mail today. Hopefully mail-order works. It'll be a rough week.
I am a mother and going through the same thing you are. I have insurance and have found the only way I can get my meds is by paying cash. It is awful because like you i cant function. I am so tired of being treated like an addict. They would not treat a cancer patient that way. I have used the same RX for the past 2 years with out a problem I have since moved and for the past 7 months it has been HELL. Find one RX and stick with them it seems to be the only way. Good Luck
But thats the thing... You say you are sick of being treated like an addict but you ARE an addict! You have been prescribed oxy for 2 years you say? Do you know how wrong that is? Nobody is supposed to be prescribed an opiate for that long... A year TOPS and then you are supposed to be weened off of the drug... And of course your pharmacies want you to pay cash... They can make a killing off of addicts in Florida... Why would he take a $5 copay and maybe $50 from your insurance when he can take $200 cash from your pocket? And please don't compare yourself to a cancer patient... No cancer patient would be prescribed oxy for 2 years straight... Your doctor knows you are addicted... And your doctor knows that you crush up your 30s and snort them... They don't care its all about getting your cash
Don't listen to this Joey the jerk. He's on this thread and another calling people addicts. He's an ignorant moron. Like I told you on another thread, back off and go harass someone else.you're a rotton human being.
To Joey Motz: I can give you hundreds of cases where a person has to be on Oxy's for longer than 2 years just to function and/or get out if bed! How dare you make such an ignorant statement! There are thousands of people who have sustained heinous injuries and have unfixable, complicated situations within their bodies who have no choice but to rely on pain management or beg to die from their pain. I sure hope Karma does not come your way and you find some day that you must rely on pain meds to function. Also, not everyone abuses their pain meds. I have been in mine for 5 years and have never gotten high from taking them EVER! Don't ever plan to. We can do without your uninformed, and asinine comments.
That's just ignorant of you to say these things.
Paula, he's harassing others on another thread. He's on oxycodone for a year from injury and works in a pharmacy. Like I said on other thread, I'm sure he's getting his meds filled every month.
Did the same thing and lost my scripts altogether. They told me over the phone they had no problem filling them and I sent them then they said they can't fill them and were sending them back been 3 weeks NOTHING and they KNOW NOTHING erased out of their system. AND I was promised by a supervisor that they would over night my hard copies back to me, that was on July 13th still nothing.
Don't know what u r talking about only suppose to be on opiates for a year? Not if u have severe intractable pain I have been on Percocet and oxycoodone for
19 years in addition to an implanted pump. If u go to a reputable pain ctr n there is documentation of ur illness there should be no probilem. I have been with same pain Dr. For 16 years.
@ Joey Motz: wrong again. Why do you bother? Every single thing you say points to your lack of medical education. If a person has chronic pain with no feasible way to treat the pain other than painkillers, guess what genius? They're on them for life. You think if someone has spinal degeneration to a state where surgery wouldn't help, the doctor will put them on oxy for a year, take them off, and say "sorry about the rest of your life, but you can only have a year pain free!", you are a complete moron. Seriously. Your misguided "logic" is just crap you made up. Go away. You have no place here.
Oh and Joey Motz, if a person has bone cancer, you can bet they will be on oxy for as long as they can hold on. Unless they go into remission and their pain is gone, painkillers will be prescribed, period. Forever if the case may be. That goes for ANY pain patient with intractable, severe pain. There's no way you work anywhere near a pharmacy- you don't know a thing about medicine. Literally. Nothing. Doctors do not have time limits on prescribing narcotics- if the patient needs them to function without intense pain, they get them. What don't you understand??
Joey, you are spot on. I genuinely feel bad for these patients thinking this is their only way to survive; what a sad life. At the end of the day, it is all about money just like you said. I blame the doctors for purposely prescribing large quantities of narcotics to get their patients hooked so they come back and pay for a new script each month.
I was in a horrible motorcycle accident. A car took my leg from the knee down, I was in the hospital for over 300 days and I am now confined to a wheel chair. I had multiple failed spinal and leg surgeries. When I was finally released they had me on pain meds of course, but after a few months I was able to decrease the extended release OxyContin, and only took the oxycodone IR or Percocet when I needed it. In less than six months they weaned me off the meds and only then was I was able to start rebuilding my life. I was literally on the verge of death, had multiple surgeries and even have missing limbs...and I don't need to take 180 oxy 30s a month!! In fact I only take a couple Tylenol a few days a month! If you are really taking your medication as prescribed, isn't it time to take accountability for your own health and have a conversation with your doctor?? Best of luck to you all.
bilbo, you are sadly misinformed. You having pain yourself does not say a thing about what other people need to live normal lives. You think you had the worst pain ever? You obviously don't have severe pain, because people who do would be writhing in bed all day taking a few Tylenol a month. Smarten up. Your pain obviously doesn't touch the pain felt by the other patients on this forum.
Sorry SLICK, BUT NO,NO NO NO NO NO PHARMACY CAN "MAKE" YOU PAY CASH! This is LAUGHABLE AND LUDACRIS... C'mon people, for Christ sake think a little bit!!! What? Do you get your medication in an ALEY behind the pharmacy or what? Do not misunderstand me,sure, the pharmacy JAG OFF can suggest that you pay cash, because it will be just sooo much easier AND faster for you! Ha.. HA HA!! Oh hell no! If you are LETTING something like this happen to you, then perhaps you should ask yourself WHY?stop being a DOORMAT for some A-HOLE!
