I have been taking the above for approx 4 months . I have been cutting down to 1 a day over two weeks and not taken any for the last few days . I am feeling very nauseous since doing this could this be connected. ## Hello, Darbie! How are you? Yes, that was a pretty rapid taper, so withdrawal effects, such as nausea, dizziness and diarrhea are to be expected. Why did you stop taking it? Have you been having a problem with the medication? ## Stopped taking cos I have been having tummy problems also for about 6 months on and off. Scans Cts you name it and they can't find out why. So tried stopping all Meds to see if it helped.

How long can dizziness last after stopping Neurontin? ## Hello, Marykay! How are you? I'm sorry that you're experiencing dizziness. How long were you taking it and how much? Did you just stop cold turkey or taper? These details will all play a role in the answer to your question. It may take anywhere from a few days to several weeks. If you stopped cold turkey, there could also be a risk of seizures. ## Thanks. I did stop taking it cold turkey but didn't experience a seizure and about a week later the dizziness stopped. I just may not be able to take it. Haven't seen the Dr. who prescribed it yet.

I'm taking between 600-900 mg. of neurontin a day for the past 2 years. How long does this stay in your system once you stop it. ## Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, which is an anticonvulsant that has also been proven to help with certain types of nerve pain. Its half-life, where it reachs 50% in your body is 5 to 7 hours and it is normally completely cleared from your system in 2 days. Studies have shown that it is one of the few drugs that retains its elimination time and this time is unaffected by dosage or length of use. Learn more: Are there any other questions or comments? ## I have been taking 1800 mg an evening for RSL for years. I also take valerian and melatonin to help with sleep. I am noticing that I am sleepy during the day and I don't know if I ...

This pill is egg white and oblong with a 25 on the front and a score in center. On the back is what looks like a beaker inside a large U and a score mark in center. ## It's not Neurontin? Generic Gabapentin ## @dmath, From what you're describing it sounds like the large U may be similar to the Advance Pharmaceutical logo. However, I did find that their logo is actually a small p inside of a larger A (it just happens to look like a V also since there is no line connecting that part of the "A"). Perhaps if you were to contact the manufacturer directly, they'd be able to determine if it's one of their own... I also wanted to add Gabapentin as a fair candidate since different versions of this medication have pills that share the same white oblong description, have a ...

This pill is suppose to be a narraton pill. ## Hello, Shelly! How are you? No, this is not Neurontin. An oblong, peach pill with T 88 on one side contains the active ingredient Etodolac, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

Does medicaid pay for neurontin or lyrica? ## HI THERE MY NAME IS MICHAEL, I HAVE A NEW INSURANCE CALLED AMERIGROUP REAL SOLUTIONS, I WAS WONDERING IF IT COVERS THE DRUG CALLED SUBOXONE, MANY SITES ARE SAYING DIFFERENT THINGS, I WOULD APPRECIATE AN ANSWER, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.. ## Hi Linda, From what I've read, Medicaid does provide coverage for drugs like Neurontin and Lyrica. However, you might also want to call the pharmacy ahead of time to verify whether or not there's a copay. @Mikey, According to Amerigroup's webpage, coverage is available for generic Suboxone (buprenorphine + naloxone), but it does require prior authorization and there also appears to be quantity limits of 120 for a 30 day period. You can view more specific details on page 5 and 33 of the following...

Can someone tell me why someone would take Neurontin if they do not need it? My daughter is a drug abuser...I do not know why or how she got this med but she has no need for it but takes handfuls of these pills. or..when she has Xanax, she'll take those as well...what effects is she having from this? Apparently, she has an issue with downers so I'm just wondering...And what are the effects of her stopping these cold turkey? Is it possible to OD on these drugs as in just falling asleep? She also has been known to take liquid G as well on many occasions...wonderful combination. ## Hi, Nina! Sorry to hear about your daughter. If she's a drug abuser, then I believe you've already answered your own question about why she'd take something that she doesn't need. Neuront...

My friend took 200 neurontin at 300mg apiece. What should i do? ## In these types of situations, I cannot stress enough how important it is to get emergency medical help. Anyone who fears that someone's life may be in danger due to such an action should call 911 in the U.S. or take the person to their nearest emergency treatment facility. While there are those of us online that are always happy to help, if we can, it is not possible for us to administer life saving measures over the Internet and while you're waiting for an answer to your post, the person's life could be slipping away. How is your friend doing?

I was forced to take it while in a psychiatric hospital and went from being talkative to being completely silent and suffering from a complete inability to feel. I also can't concentrate or hear what people are saying and I'm young only 27 and try to go on a date with a guy and he'll ask me a philisophical question and I'll say "uh..." ## Hello, Dassa! How are you doing now? Neurontin is a drug that works on brain chemicals, so it can cause these types of problems in some people that take it. Learn more Neurontin details here. In the hospital, they aren't as worried about such side effects, because their goal there is to keep you calm and to prevent you from being a danger to yourself or anyone else. However, once you're out and trying to live life normal...

Hi I have been on Gabapentin for a month. The highest dose I could tolerate is 900mg a day. The problem is the drug has had no effect on my pain. I have tried to go up in dosage to possible get some pain relief, but I am retaining fluid at higher doses and I have Congestive Heart Failure, so this is a no-no. So..... The pain clinic wants to switch me to Topamax. Any experience or comments. Thanks! ## Hi Katia, Unfortunately, there have been quite a few of side effects reported by Topamax users. Here is a link to a thread you may consider posting in if you'd like to learn more about possible adverse reactions: Discuss/Topamax-caused-problems-159316.htm Just keep in mind that not everyone experiences side effects, since everyone's body chemistry is different. I know I am not suppose to drink alcohol while on this medication but I have a party to go to. Is it ok to stop taking the med a day before and pick back up the day after the party? ## Drinking alcohol, while taking this medication can cause an increase of side effects, so you may feel more nauseous, dizzy and drowsy than usual. Learn more Neurontin details here. And people that take it for mood disorders or seizures can basically defeat the purpose of Neurontin, since the alcohol puts them at risk. Thus, it is best not to imbibe while taking it and not to skip doses of your medication, but if you feel you must, check with your doctor first regarding the safety and make sure that you won't be driving or operating any heavy machinery, while under the influence. Are there any other qu...

Neurotin come in a pill form round or just a captule like I seen in this site? And why does it make my face feel numb on my left side? Should I be worried cause it feels funny when it tingles and feels numb? Katie ## Yes it does it is a white pill looks like a horse pill but it does help with nerve pain.I take it and it does help quite a bit with nerve pain.I took it before but it was too much of a dose for me it made my legs have jumping leg sydrome. My daughter in law got the calptule and there was no way to break it in half and take a half of one but ask for the white one. ## Neurontin is available in both tablets and capsules, that are in a variety of shapes and colors, because a generic is also available. Thus, the ones mentioned here are just some examples. Neurontin contains the a...

I only took for two weeks and have lost 60% of my hair. I am a woman, and only 43, and scared to death that it will completely fall out, even though I have stopped taking it. Does anyone have any answers to how long this will continue and or suggestions on what helps with hair regrowth from taking nuerontin. Best, J ## At your age, it is actually difficult to say whether or not the hair loss is solely due to the Neurontin. Women in their 40's typically also enter perimenopause and the hormonal imbalance can also cause hair loss or hair thinning. That could explain why you experienced such great hair loss, after being on the medication for such a short period of time. Neurontin may not actually be the cause. Have you consulted your doctor? Have you been experiencing worsening PMS sym...

Needing Help! I have to find a new physician. I am in the Kokomo, IN area. I was on Neurontin and Percocet which took care of the neuropathy in my feet. I am diabetic, which has resulted in nerve damage. The pain in my feet rotates from a burning feeling -- much like I've stuck my feet on a frying pan then it goes into a stinging feeling, like a fly swatter slapping my feet over and over and over. This goes on 24/7. I'm not expecting Oxycontin or Morphine. But I at least need my Percocet and Neurontin. It takes BOTH of them to work. They don't totally kill the pain, but they definitely helped to ease it up. If anyone knows of a family doctor or general practitioner, etc. who would possibly prescribe these, please let me know. I feel uncomfortable posting this, but I don'...

I believe that my Meniere's was a result of off label use of Nerontin for back nerve pain which caused my Meniere's. I learned side effects from meds often never goes away even if you stop the drug. As you may know the company that produces Neurontin was sued by the US Department of Justce for the flagrant marketing of the drug to doctors very secretly for off label uses. The company made something like $2 Billion dollars from the off label marketing. There was a whistle blower who had letters and email that showed the company secretly was asking their sales people to market the drug for off label use. The government prevailed in the suit and a large sum was awarded. Those dollars were passed out to each state's attorneys general to set up programs to help make the public aw...

I stopped taking my Neurontin after having what I think is an allergic reaction to the med. I was started on 100mg once a day for a week, then went to 200mg once a day for 1 week. A few days after starting the 200mg my eyes started itching, I didn't really think too much about it. Then about 3 days after I was increased to 300mg my eyes started swelling with blurred vision and runny eyes. I also couldn't understand why my throat felt as though it was shutting off and I started getting flu like symptoms and my face was swollen as well. My dr started me on eye drops with antibiotics in them, but my stayed swollen. A day or 2 later I thought that the Neurontin was the only thing new for me so I stopped taking it and my symptoms are way better. My eyes are still watery, but a lot be...

Going thru bad withdrawl from opiates, someone said they have noroton & it will take away all symptoms. Can this be true? ## Hi dee, Sorry to hear about the bad withdrawals you've been experiencing. Did you mean to say "Neurontin" by chance? I haven't found anything by the name of noroton. Neurontin (Gabapentin) however, was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, but is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. I cannot guarantee how effective it is for managing certain withdrawal symptoms (since it's not indicated for this purpose), but I'd imagine that results could vary for each individual and their particular set of symptoms. Was this person a doctor or credible source who told you that it works for all symptoms? I'm not doubting...

Not everyone experiences such a side effect, so there's no way to know if it will happen to you, or not, but the possibility is there. Normally, I'd tell someone not to worry about it, but given your psychological state and the fact that the gain h...

After a couple of weeks on Neurontin, I started getting small red spots on my skin. Now I am getting larger spots, about a half inch in diameter. My skin is also getting darker with kind of a blue cast to it. Can't reach my doctor until Monday. Does anyone know how fast one can get off the drug without serious side effects? ## I too have red spots (splotches, really) on my arms after about a month on neurontin. Thanks, I really didn't know the cause. Also, it makes me terrifically fatigued. Now I am wondering if I should stay on, or go off. I take it for neuropathy in my hands, but so far, I see no improvement. ## Go to the ER ASAP. Some medications that cause rashes cause a condition called "Stevens-Johnson's". It's extremely dangerous. Go now! ## Stevens-Johnso...
