I ran out of neurontin after slow response from mail order drug company. I had serotonin syndrome after abrupt withdrawal from amitriptylene and fear this could happen again. I am having agitation, itching, sleeplessness and a feeling of crawling on my body. ## The symptoms you're experiencing can be normal withdrawal symptoms from abruptly stopping a medication. Serotonin syndrome, which can be life threatening, does not usually occur from stopping a medication, it occurs due to taking too many medications that increase the amount of Serotonin in the brain. Here in delhi difficult to find enzoheal tablets. but enzomac can be found easily.. ## Yes, they both contain Trypsin, Bromelain and Rutoside and are commonly used to help with digestion. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I'm taking neurontin for a pinched nerve in my foot, which occurred during surgery. I'm looking for something that will ease the pain without the weight gain & sleepiness. I just can't settle for the fact that I may have to be on this for the rest of my life. ## Elaine, how long have you been taking it? Some of the regular side effects, such as the drowsiness should hit their peak at anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks and then they should start to taper off, as your body adjusts to the medication. And not everyone gains weight on the medication, but...

Could you tell me all of the ingredients, including all supplements, that are found in the medication known as Neurontin. I had a terrible reaction to Neurontin 8 years ago, when I was prescribed Neurontin for muscle spasms that I suffered in my legs, from a back Injury. I now have neuropathy from that back injury and nerve damage. I am interested in trying Nerve Renew, and another supplement, but I want to make sure there are no ingredients found in the products that are found in Neurontin? I do not want to end up in the hospital again. ## Hi Ron, Neurontin is actually the generic name for Gabapentin. The only other types of ingredients outside of this are binders/fillers that vary depending upon which manufacturer's version you're taking. If you happen to have a Neurontin tabl...

I don't take neurontin and have never taken it. I have been on methadone for 8 years and have been taking urine drug screens the entire time. This past month my screen showed that I had taken neurontin, as I stated I don't take it. I take over the counter medicine for acid reflux and a sleep aid which is just benadryl. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this to show up in my test? I have lost some of my privileges due to this showing up. Please help!!! ## The over the counter sleep aid that is benadryl shows up as a benzo. I'm I guess pretty much in the same program and have been for 3 years this month. I've been dealing with the same since January this year if you take any king of benadryl or over the counter nighttime sleep aid it will cause you to fail the on...

I am to start my withdrawal from 2700mg of neurontin this week. I take three 300mg at morning, noon, and dinner. I had tried to go off it myself a few time, but guess I tried to do it too quickly, the pain was terrible. I have been on it for about five years for chronic pain and it doesn't work. I will go down one pill (300) every three weeks or so. I hope this will be slow enough to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Any thought on this would be appreciated. ## Hi, Wanda! How are things going? One warning I'd like to give you is that you do need to do this very slowly and carefully. Since Neurontin is actually an anticonvulsant, a rapid, sudden withdrawal actually creates the risk of suffering seizures. You've already experienced the rebound pain that can happen from doing it too...

It was around about 10 yrs ago .... used for pain ....ppl could take them to keep from going into withdrawal....it got banned for causing heart problems....i can't think of the name of them....they were abused and kinda made u feel like when u take neurontin ## Hello, Nicky! How are you? I think you may be talking about Darvocet, which contained Acetaminophen and Propoxyphene. It was a very mild narcotic and yes, it was pulled from the market due to the risk of cardiac dangers. The FDA listed it as possibly being habit forming and it could cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and constipation. Does the sound correct?

A dermatologist prescribed Neurontin (400mg 3x daily) for neuropathic brachioradial pruritis. Anyone else have this? I started taking it last night and took one this AM. It made m every drowsy. Does this go away in time? (It's about 4 hours since I took it and I feel less drowsy although I don't think I would droive my car.) ## Hello, Pikov! How are you? Neurontin is an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain. Drowsiness can be a normal side effect, along with nausea, dizziness, weight changes and mood swings. Yes, it should taper off in severity, after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body adjusts to the medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## At this point, I'm up to 2400 mg/day. How long does Neurontin remain active in your body before being excreted? ## Hello, Kevin! How are you? The FDA classifies this medication as an anticonvulsant, which is also used to treat certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain and dry mouth. It's half-life is approximately 5 to 7 hours and it takes 5 to 6 half-lives to be fully processed from your body, so it would be fully excreted in approximately 30 to 42 hours. Is there anything else I can help with?

I can't take any medications with sulphur in them. I was prescribed Schuessler Tissue Salts Water Eliminator Nat Sulph for swollen feet caused by increase of dosage of Neurontin each tablet contains 0.5mcg of the Mineral Tissue Salt Sodium Sulphate in a lactose base should these be ok for me to take. ## Hello, Des! How are you? Sulfur is the base for many medications. However, are you allergic to it? If not and your doctor has prescribed them, then it should be okay for you to take them. However, a sulphate is not straight sulfur, it is one of its salts. Typical side effects usually include nausea, increased urination and dehydration, according to the product information.

I stopped neurontin on July 3, 2014. On July 7, I started itching so bad that I didn't know what to do. Does this seem like it is related? I was thinking about asking my doctor to go back on it. Would this help with severe itching and feeling scratchy all over my body? Thank you! I hope you can help me. ## Hello, Renea! How are you? If you're still itching, after several months, it likely isn't related to stopping the medication. It could happen, at first, due to chemical changes in the body, as a withdrawal reaction, but that usually doesn't last more than a few weeks to a month. Have you been using anything else new, such a soap, shampoo, or laundry detergent? Are you on any other medications? Have you consulted your doctor about the itching?

Can neurontin give a false positive for cocaine in a urine drug test? ## Neurontin contains the active ingredient Gabapentin, it is an anticonvulsant, which has also been shown to help certain types of nerve pain. And no, it is not known to cause false positives for any other drugs. Where you taking anything else? Even over the counter medications? ## This is for a family member. He was taking alleve and nyquil for tooth pain (possibly). He did have a root canal a few days later. Thanks for your response. ## Maria, had he had anything done to the tooth, prior to the root canal? If the dentist used anesthetic to numb it, then that could explain the false positive. Some of the anesthetics they use are distance relatives of cocaine and could cause false positives for it. Aleve has been kno...
