Pregablin group Drug ## Hello Veeraperumal, I hope you are having a wonderful day. I was not able to find a reliable source that would lead me to believe that 150mg Megalin is manufactured in the United States. In fact I was not able to find much at all on this medication. What little information I was able to find was on websites from the Phillipines. I used google translate to understand what was written on the webpage so this information is roughly translated. Reportedly has the active ingredient mefenamic acid, which the National Institute of Health claims is used for moderate pain relief. As for the pregablin drug, it is marketed under the brand name lyrica. According to the National Insitute of Health it is used to treat neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropa...

My pain mgmt. person is taking me off of Lyrica due to it being highly addictive. I am 64 and have been on this med, in conjunction with Oxycodone 10mg, since it was on the market. Is it true that ALL pain mgmt. doctors are no longer prescribing Lyrica? It works so well for dealing with the severe stenosis problems I have. ## Hello Lory, Short answer is no, not all pain management doctors have stopped prescribing lyrica. What I will say is that the number of doctors refusing to prescribe these types of medication is growing due to the much stronger enforcement of opiods and other addictive prescription drugs. The reasoning for this is due in large part to the government's increasing regulation of the market. This crack down is in response to what people are calling the "opioid c...

can you stop it immediately or taper off ## Hi Pat, Due to the number of complaints regarding withdrawal symptoms associated with Lyrica, I would highly recommend that you taper off this dangerous drug instead of stopping it abruptly. Usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. It may also be a good idea to talk to your doctor or pharmacist about writing up a tapering schedule for you on a calendar to give you an idea of how long it might take before you can safely stop taking it. I hope this helps! ## Hi Pat, I have bee...

My doctor subscribed Lyrica for my RSD (CRPS) 10 mos ago. I had shoulder rotator cuff repair, clavider bone removed last May. 4 or 5 nerve blocks; and carpal tunnel surgery this past Jan. (Lots of pain). It works wonders for my severe pain. Does have side effect for weight gain, but that's ok for me since I have a small frame. It relieves my pain. I am not able to work, but I do get great pain relief. I take 600mg a day. ## i need more info on this pill. i already weigh 232 ## hi im mark I have diabetes and shingles worst luck I also have back probs and old slit disc now the doctor put me on tramadol for over 4 years just found out that liver levels are low.. one doc said oh that's down to the drink?? from ten years ago?? I took one dose of Lyrica, got dizzy, double vision, shaking and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. They confirmed I had a seizure disorder from taking Lyrica. Anyone else experience this? ## Lyrica is the 'med from heck', as far as I'm concerned. I've had reactions to meds, but nothing like the one to this med! Normally I know right away if a med is going to cause a problem for me, but Lyrica was different. I took it for 14 days, and on the 15th day, my husband found me sobbing uncontrollably, screaming, being totally irrationational, etc. ....all while hollaring at him to 'do something'. I totally lost it, and couldn't control myself. (my normal demeanor is a calm cool, collected person, who takes the time to educate herself about everything she ...

Been on Lyrica 2 1/2 wks for fibro, it is a miracle drug for that, and thought with no side effects BUT it seems I do, have lost libido and ability. Hope this goes away as I don't want to quit the drug, does anyone know???? ## Lyrica contains the active ingredient Pregabalin, an anticonvulsant that has also been shown to help with certain types of nerve pain. That said, sexual dysfunction can be a very common side effect. Some side effects will wear off as your body adjusts to the medication, however, if it does not and remains and issue, you will need to consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help you with? ## Thanks Verwon, That is what I am hoping that I will adjust. Do you know if there is another drug that does the same as Lyrica that I could try that may not have sa...

I had been on 75mg of lyrica and 100gr of tramadol for about one year. I was mostly in severe pain due to a severed nerve that a lady dentist did to me in Canada. I was on 100mg of lyrica every 4 hrs. before that for only two months.but couldn't afford $350.00/mo the cost of lyrica. I started back on the 100mg of lyrica about 3 months ago. I have had now 4 bad side effects. 1. weight gain 2. bloated stomach -like I am 6 mo. pregnant 3. severe joint pain 4. muscle spasms mostly in right foot & gen. weakness ## Hi Evelin, I don't know what good it will do, but you can always report these side effects to the FDA's MedWatch program at: fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm If you're able to, I would also highly recommend consuming a lot more fruits and vegetables to help c...

Hi all, So since Christmas I have been on Lyrica, Max dose tapered up to was 200 mg (100 in morning and 100 in evening). I take them for nerve pain due to previous disc surgeries. I have been in a bit of a fog since starting with increased anxiety and pain. I was prescribed 10 mg of Escitalopram (Lepraxo) a day about a month ago as was having a lot of dark thoughts and severe anxiety. I have always had anxiety but seemed to be able keep it at bay (well perhaps not as well as I thought I was!) Anyway, I took my last dose of Lyria four days ago and only took 100mg that morning. Had planned to taper down much more gradually but was left without the tablet for three days so thought just go for it. I have read a lot stating that it is not advised at all and can be quite dangerous. My questio...

I am going to a reunion on nov.11th.and i take 900mg.of neurontin and 225mg.of lyrica per day, for 3 months.if I want to drink 5-6 beers at reunion could I stop taking these drugs for 2 days and get it out of my system, so I can safely drink at my reunion ## You can do that, if you wish, but you should consult with your doctor, first. Alcohol can also have a detrimental effect on some medical conditions, so you need to be certain it is safe for you to drink it. Are you taking them for pain or some other condition? In the case of these medications, you are warned against using alcohol, because it can aggravate the side effects, such as nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and CNS depression. ## If your same PCP is giving you Neurontin and Lyrica then he needs his credentials looked over. You ar...

I have herniated discs and sciatica. I was referred to a pain management doctor, who prescribed Lyrica. After reading all of these posts, and finding out the side effects, I'm not sure I want to take this medicine. Has anyone had good results with Lyrica, without these side effects? ## I have been using it for about7-8 months for nerve pain caused by intercostal neuritis and it has worked great for me. Of course I still get pain, but it is greatly reduced in both severity and frequency. The side affects are lethargy at first and forgetfullness, but it goes away in a few weeks and to me was definately worth the wait. Weight gain- I am so overweight to begin with and on so many things that can cause weight gain, it is hard to tell, but on a WW, I lose easily if I take it seriously. An...

I have taken Lyrica for over three years for serious Neuropathies (Level 10 pain...unable to leave my home or function at all) caused by undiagnosed B-12 and Vitamin D Deficiencies. I started at 150 mg twice a day; however, had to increase to three times a day to more fully deal with the pain. Eventually I reduced it back to twice a day as the pain was controlled (90%) and due to excessive daytime sleepiness. Lyrica saved my life. I am able to work full-time again and do. Most side effects disappeared over time EXCEPT losing word recall at times and weight gain (I diet all the time now). But it is ALL worth it to be nearly pain free... Nerve pain is unbearable. I am a 68-year-old woman and healthy otherwise. ## I'm so very glad that this medication is working so well for you. The me...

I have been taking Lyrica 150 mg twice a day with 100mg sustained release tramadok (ultram) I have severe post hepetic neuralgia in my left thigh following an attack of shingles. This combination of meds has reduced pain by 59% allowing me to function, Then I noticed I was slowly and stadily gaining weight - about 30 lb. The interesting thing is it is all (nearly) belly weight - my waist has now completely dissapeared. The first side effect (i didn;t really notice the weight gain at first) was I was unsteady and my balance degenerated quite a bit.
