Hi. I am having a procedure done and am being prescribed vicodin. I am currently on suboxone. I WILL NOT take the vicodin unless I am in excruciating pain. Would suboxone help with the pain? And if I do have to take the vicodin how long should I wait to take it after taking suboxone? THANKS!

Hi, I don't know if you still need help but I am in a detox program and they gradually bring you down. Til there is 1mg. You have to do it slow. Today is my day 4 and I'm on 16mg today. Tomorrow I will either be 16mg or 12mg. They take 4mg away at a time I believe but I will get 16 mg for a couple days then 12 mg for a couple days. It works.

100% agree, I am currently on SUBS for opioid addiction and I can state for a fact that before I started SUBS my addiction doctor said you just need to be off of any other opioids for 12 hours. I did just that and I never got sick at all and it worked just fine. No Vicodin for 12 days but I am stopping the SUBS because it is not intended for long term use seeing as most opioids are out of your system in 2 weeks. The longer you take subs the more difficult it is to get off of them it's an absolute scam and a money pit that they do not tell you about subs are highly addictive and the withdrawals are way worse than any other opioid if you're currently on subs to get off of opioid addiction do not take them for any longer than 2 to 3 weeks or I promise you will regret it in the long run

Some people actually are prescribed Vicodin and suboxone together for some pain conditions, I was just reading on it. I don't see how that would work if the suboxone nullifies the opiate effect. It really helps with pain in the person I know taking them. They take them for pain though, not recreationally, maybe you just don't feel high...

Wean slowly. I was on 16 mg but my doctor has lowered my dose 6mg in 8 weeks. It changes the way I felt. It actually just made me feel less numb but in a good way (like with my libido & affection, my feelings). Wean when you feel like ur doing well & ur recovery is strong bc addicts will tell themselves that having less & less Suboxone will be negative and we can't handle it but we can. We are strong.

Hi, I've been on subutex for over 5years now and I've had procedures and things done in that time that required some opiates that were temporary and also approved by my subutex provider and they okay it. Because even if your on methadone or subutex or suboxone you will still feel the pain for me just as intensely as anyone else. And even though 2 of those have blockers in them the opiates prescribed for pain still are greatly more affective at stopping severe pain it just won't give you the buzz it used to (which is also really good)! Now I could have a whole bottle of lorcet in front of me and I wouldn't be bothered by it but I'd be wanting one if I was in sever pain again! So don't feel bad if you need to take one it's safe especially if you do coordinated care with it with you suboxone provider and counselor! Thanks for listening and have an always amazing day.

Okay. So... i have been on 8/2 Suboxone for over a year. My doc. Put me on the new off brand Zubzolf. Which i took for about 2 months. Today is 3/4/14 and i took my last Subzolf (or however u spell it) yesterday. (3/3/14) I am going to try and taper off of this bull shizz. I have a few Roxys for the beginning and loratabs for the ending. I am just wondering how long i should wait until i pop my first Roxy...when will i feel it? Any other advise or info. Would be greatly appreciated. If you could e mail me at {edited for privacy} i would love you for that!!!

That's not true. Methadone withdrawals last up to 30 days and PAWS can last upto 6 months.

Yea um no. Suboxone is NOT a narcotic. Are you serious? I broke my back in Iraq. I was on everything gods green earth has for pain. Now 7 years later I made the decision to get off narcotics once and for all. I don't want my life to revolve around med time. Any way. Sorry I was rambling. I'm a paramedic and see all types of placebo effects. I can convince someone that I just have them valum and all it was, was a flush of saline. I'm not trying to put you out but suboxone only.helps pain if you are having a placebo effect. Sorry but it's the truth. But hey.. If you can honestly say it.is a pain reliever .. Dude do it up. Most likely not. Until you are about 70-80% through the wds and on the way back up, all you will feel is normal. Sub clings on pretty tight.

Hi ive been a user of opiates still the age of 15 I was methodone first for few years came from 90mls to nuffin over 6months and and felt nothing im now on subs have been for a year was on 8mg bt slowly weened all way down to 2mg it took a little ova 2months but you will have good abd bad days but u will gt there just keep tryin dont rush it do 1ml every 2wks you will feel nothing at the end some times its mind over matter goodluck :)

Lets start with this I've been on suboxone for four years. I just had surgery 3 months ago and was on my subs. and 3 different pain killers, they all work fine. When taking the film strips you can mix with no problem. If you here different they never did subs.

Vicodin will not do anything taken with the Suboxone.
Suboxone contains an opiate neutralizer to help prevent you from getting high and taking other drugs while under treatment.
Vicodin is also nowhere near as strong as the Suboxone, so it will be liking taking TicTacs for your pain in comparison.
Suboxone is a narcotic, so it will help with the pain and you should be fine with just that.

I have been on 20mg of suboxone for 1 1/2 years now & have not taken but 8mg in the past week. I have been in the hospital for 6 days now & had to have surgery two days ago. I have been on 1-2mg of dilaudid intravenous at first and now by mouth & also 1-2 5mg lortab- alternating every 4-6hrs. Anyway, I've really been wondering why I haven't at the least been feeling the effects of the dilaudid, since I really don't have any sub in my system? Any answers are appreciated!
