Hi, I was hoping someone could give me an opinion on my current situation.. I have trouble falling alseep and told my Dr. about it.. She gave me a rx for temapem and it helped me go to sleep but I woke up on and off all night and did not get a full restful sleep not to mention bad nightmares also. So with this occurrence I figure I might have to talk with my Dr. because I have to wake up early in morning to be at work by 7:30, and feeling tried and not alert is not good with the work that I am required to do. Hi, I was hoping someone could give me an opinion on my current situation..I have been taking Welluburtin and Lexapro for a while and they work great!! I take (1) 150mg of Welluburtin and 10mg of Lexapro in the a.m., and than around 4 in the afternoon I take one more pill, another Welluburtin, totaling 300mg and 10mg of Lexapro each day.. I have always had trouble falling alseep and told my Dr. about it.. She gave me a rx for temazepam (30mg) and it helped me go to sleep, but I woke up on and offa ll night, and did not get a full night's sleep, not to mention, bad nightmares. So with this occurrence I figured I might have to talk with my Dr. because I have to wake up early in morning to be at work by 7:30, and feeling tried and not alert is not good with the work that I am required to do. I always have to be on top of it because I work in an accounting dept. So with that being said,I could not handle it and called to make an appt, because I could see that I did not want to go through this for another for another 14 days.. I went in to see my Dr., and explained what I was going through.. She than gave me a 90 day supply of 50mg Trazodone. Well, I was so excited knowing that these would surely do the job.especially because she gave me 90 pills this time, instead of 30. Was really needing my sleep at this point.. I was supposed to take one or two by mouth per night, as needed. The first night I took one and it took me 3 hours to actually fall alseep, but I slept good, did not wake up at all during the night. Next night I figured I should take two (100mg) so that I could get to sleep faster and not have to toss and turn and watch the clock again and see all the hours that I had not fallen alseep all night..took around 9:00 p.m. and feeling like I will get to sleep by 10:00 p.m. Well, not good.. after around a half hour I could not breathe..or swallow very good, I felt my heart raceing, but finally got to sleep around 3:30 a.m. not good..... even worse is that when I had to get up I totally felt unbalanced, not to mentioned my eyes were so red and swollen that I looked awful, I firgured I had better make alot of coffee so I could get my balance and wake up and get ready a busy day at work.. well I made it to work, felt a little under the weather, but had to start my usual work load, even though I was not feeling up to it. When I got up or had to walk anywhere I would almost lose my balance and felt very dizzy and unbalanced also could not concentrate and had a diffucult time getting much done. So with that, I called the Doctors office to let them know it was not working for me.. come to find that the Dr. was not in that day so I asked to speak with someone on the nursing staff. I explained to her my situation and she said oh, well, it usually takes a week before it starts working, she said that she could call the Dr. but felt I should take one more night and only take (1) 50mg tablet and to call her the next day if I still did not go to sleep well.. Ok, so, I figured that I would just take one and see if that worked better after the bad results from taking two, knowing that I had not fell alseep the first night either, I though ok, I will have to try one more night.. Besides she had gave me a 90 day RX, and gave me an appt. card to come back in, to see her in a month, so she must have been pretty sure it was going to work? long story short, I could not fall asleep for hours, but at least I did not have the reactions with my not being able to breathe or swallow. called and made a Dr. appt to go see Dr., during my lunch break, and she switched me to Abiem, in the genaric form, by the name of zolpidem. took first pill last night after work. It got me to sleep within a half hour or so....I got a good solid solid 6 -7 hours sleep and hope tonight it continues to work YAY!!!! The only problem is that I am still feeling unbalanced and dizzy? How long does that take to go away?? I only took Trazodone for a total of 3 nights and started the zolpidem last night.. Also, I am still feeling a bit fatigue, as well? Is this just withdrawal symtoms, and if so how long do you think it will take before I start feeling normal again? How long does trazodone take to be competely out of your system?

Thank you, in advance for any feedback.. :)
Sincerely, Roxanne

Trazadone on it's own is almost worthless. My Dr. prescribes it because his malpractice ins is less costly. However, I at one time was prescribed flexeril and the generic is cyclobenzaprine 10 mg to take during the day . I decided to take those with the trazdone at night and then I am able to sleep. It relaxes your body making the trazadone 50mg better able to work. I don 't know why I decided to do this but it works. I told my Dr and so now he has me taking those 2 together . I have been doing this for several years and have no side affects , except a decent nights sleep.
I take 3 trazadone and 2 cyclobenzaprine at night.
I also took ambien and I did those craziest things when I took them. My family had to keep an eye on me and I had to get in bed and stay there as soon as I took them.
Their dangerous. Once we were on a cruise , I took them, left our cabin and tried to open all the doors I found. Then I presided to go to the food court and don't remember any of that. I also gave a friend a gift and don't remember that either. There is more stories I could tell you but they are too long. It is a good thing my husband was with me or I might have gone over board and no one would have known what was going on or what happened to me.. It also did a little damage to my brain.
My advice; don't ever take Ambien !!!!!!!

Trazodone should be taken with food in order for it to work properly. I usually have a snack and milk and fall asleep within 20 minutes

Zolpidem 10mg works the best. I usually take more because I have a high tolerance to the drugs. I'm a bigger woman and I've popped many pills over the years. 2 green xanax bars plus 4 zolpidem 10mg & a small muscle relaxer will put me to bed quick. I'm sure even without the muscle relaxer Ida still fell asleep right away.
