False Positive For Methdone

I had a blood test and tested positive for methodone but never touched the stuff. Please inform me why this would happen because there is alot in jeopardy with this false reading. I do take medication for arthritis (tramadol, hydrocodone, prednisone) asthma (ventolin inhaler) and high blood pressure (lisinopril). Please help me understand why this false positive for methodone occurred when I have never ever taken methodone. Not sure what to do to prove this is a false reading. Please advise me and thank you for you help with this matter.

It was most likely caused by the Hydrocodone that you take, it is well known that one opiate narcotic may cause false positives for another on the less expensive, non-certified tests.

The only way to really prove it would be to have it sent out to a certified lab for further testing.

Unfortunately, this seems to be happening more often, judging by the many posts similar to yours. I am very sorry that you have to deal with this.

Thank you for your reply. Had no idea that volunteering for a clinical study for rheumatoid arthritis recommended by the doctor would turn into such a mess getting the false positive reading for methodone. I have a excellent rhuematologist who is helping me manage my pain and now this false reading may hurt my relationship with him.
