Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 220)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Oh Wendy! How awful! What is the problem??? Are they out of your prescribed meds so they sent you nausea medication to deal with withdrawal? Are you ever going to get your prescription in the near future... You already paid the Saturday delivery fee!

Wendy...can't believe its been over 2 years and Charles & Co. continue to get in the way of everyone's chronic pain relief trajectory??? How can they still NOT HAVE THIS RIGHT??? I feel for you because I know how much pain you are in on a good day let alone a bad day. There is no excuse going over the 30/31st day to make every part of your body stand up and threaten a mutiny. I liked going to CPR as you know but when I met Charles and learned I would be "forced" to use his pharmacy, I knew it would not be a good fit. I have a doc up North who will keep you on the exact same doses and meds you are on coming onto his initial visit and will work with you if you are looking to change up anything. He is cash only and a little pricey...similar to the others. If you are interested, let me know and I will provide the details. In the meantime, I hope all works out and that you are feeling better Wen. You will be in my prayers today and every day. A rendeavous is in order for us to get together sooner rather than later. Feel better and keep in touch. I worry about you!!!

Wendy,I hope you can pick up your medication without any problems tomorrow. It sounds like Medicaid is dropping the maximum amount of medication that they will approve...and they now have approved 80 mgs total of extended relief medication a day, and will continue to decrease your daily dosage... I am understanding you correctly? Could you pay out of pocket to get your regular dosage? What does CPR say about it?

This is unbelievable. Let us know how it turns out. Thank God you noticed the mistake or you would have been "blacklisted" thru no fault of your own! This Doc up north is actually cheaper than CPR ($160 / month after the initial visit) and you actually only go every other month even tho you have to pay for both. And to the person who asked if you could self-pay...in my case one of my meds is no longer covered and I pay cash with the knowledge and approval by my doc and my pharm. This almost $300 / month to get relief and actually be able to get out of bed (even tho Im on Medicaid) is killing me as I know it is for all of us. God Bless Wendy and let us know when they get it right!! That is just so f'n ridiculous. It is astonishing to me that this can happen in this day and age!!!

FYI.. for those of you on Medicaid..Medicaid will cover the cost of the UA's, even when they are sent out for a more thorough analysis..and even when the doc is cash only. I'm
not sure about other insurance plans.

Wendy: My thoughts and prayers go out to you... AS a chronic pain patient, we have no rights, it seems! If we complain, it just gets turned back on us and we get discharged. I don't even complain to DORA (Department of Regulatory Agencies) as I don't think they would do anything about the poor customer service or the illness suffered by withdrawals. I hope you can find better service and more compassionate care very soon.

Lucy,
Can you give me some info about who this Dr is up North? I would love to be able to visit the doctor every other month, especially in the winter, when I have a lot of bad, high pain level days. Does he just pre-date the scripts and give them to you for the following month? Many thanks!

John, Yes the scripts are pre-dated and yes, it's nice to only have to go every other month, especially for me, who does not drive. Dr. Dex 720-289-8184. He prefers texts to phone calls but you might need to call him to see what you need and to establish your first appointment. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Lucy, I would like to answer you; however, is there a way we can communicate more privately? Some doctor's offices do have staff scan through this thread...I don't want to cause problems. I know for a fact if we get caught seeking second opinions, those of us in pain management are accused of "doctor shopping" and this label can then follow us.

Editor's note - We apologize, but in order to protect privacy, we do not allow individuals to post their personal contact information on our discussion threads (except in some very rare cases).

Original wendy, hope today is improving, my thoughts are with you, luv dr h if u want to change. I hate how us patients must be perfect but the system etc can mess up with no recourse, I just found out my old doc closed his practice, lost his license bc he was an addict which was a shock given he was su strict with uas etc, take care

Hey y'all...I hesitate to recommend or even not recommend a particular doctor because like anything else, one man's junk is another man's treasure. And it depends what you're looking for. If you just want to get in and out and get your meds (cuz they work and it took years to get to this point) vs someone who takes the time to really listen and then all the in between. The rules are generally the same no matter where you go. Be sure to take what you are prescribed and NOTHING else without your doc's permission (even if it's LEGAL medical marijuana, your pain doc has the last word so be sure to ask). Expect to be tested each visit. The last thing any of us need is to be blacklisted because of one stupid mistake, not to mention the high danger of mixing opiates with alcohol and other drugs. I stress this because I lost my last doc who was wonderful, took Medicaid, etc, and ended up going out of the pain biz all together because of such a high failure rate on an unscheduled UA taken from all pain patients. This was a $300/mo loss for me personally, not to mention the almost 2 years of developing a great relationship. Emotionally, it was a big hit for me, even though I had passed. I wish you each the best of the best as you struggle through what has become a tough uphill battle. And Wendy, I hope this means you got your meds, eventually, but you should never have had to suffer like that. This is one of those times I wish the people in the chain of command that screwed up her order would have even ONE of our days without meds, or suffer from withdrawal, etc... and then maybe they might handle things differently. But until then, we just have to take it day by day. I hope you all are having a better than good day and just know you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
