Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 219)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Please. Please keep speaking the truth. I'm from La. I have been in several car wrecks over the years with the first starting at only 17 I had been up a couple days after I got off work and was leaving the bar and going to my cousins camp to eat breakfast. His wife was a great cook but the tyrod broke, I lost control of the vehicle and it crossed the road. Thank GOD nothing was coming or it would have been head on. I hit a small tree head on and was surprised at the damage that the vehicle had. So much damage, but I remembered my father said trees never move. I had been drinking but since I was taking diet pills and I had been up a couple days were to spend some time in the country. Didn't want any of my vacation to be a waste and I dearly paid for it, next thing I know is they brought me by ambulance to forest General Hospital in Hattisburg Ms. All they could do at Bogalusa Charity was send me to New Orleans to have my foot amputated, no trying to save it at all... I was so upset. My cousin is the one who told me about Dr. William Morrison, he called him and he told him he loved a challenge. He could not promise me anything but he would DO HIS DAMNEDEST!! So off we went. Except they didn't fall for all that I had drank was a beer or two lol. But im so glad I listened to what he told me. I have had metal plates put from my elbow to my shoulder, my back has been broken twice. I am on Railroad Retirement fixed income and I need my money, each penny of it. I have let my oxycodone 30mg tablets get water in them which they have soaked up. How do I go about drying them out?

I am looking for a doctor in the Colorado Springs area who will prescribe necessary pain medication. It will likely need to be heavy medication. I am looking for my fiance and we have been through the ringer with doctors unwilling to prescribe. He has many injuries and daily pain. He has been mistreated by not having his pain adequately treated. I find this to be discustingly inhumane! On the one hand lawfully patients have rights to pain management and on the other hand you can't find a doctor to adequetely treat your pain. For those who've posted on here accusing people of just wanting to get pain meds to abuse, though I am not replying to you directly, I will say that there may come a day when you need pain medications you cannot get and when that day comes you will remember that you should have been careful who you judged.

Rainbow: How are things going with Dr. Hong? I had another bad pharmacy experience and I think I am ready to try him.

He is absolutely amazing! I've been seeing him for almost 7 months now. He is the light at the end of the dark tunnel of pain

Pink Elephant and Jane Doe: Many thanks for your info. I have to ask: are Ua's required at each visit and if so, do we have to pay for it? For example, I have a couple of laboratories that are in-network for me that are very inexpensive compared to the types that cost over one thousand dollars out of network. I would like to be able to either direct the office to use my in network lab or go directly to a location of that lab and drop my ua there.

I'm in Oklahoma. I've been in pain management since 1996 after a car wreck that had me in ICU for 100 days and 3 yrs to learn to walk again. I currently have a doctor who SORT OF tries... I was on 4 mg of Xanax. My pain Dr. Said if if i went down to 2 mg xanax daily he would leave my pain meds alone. I am epileptic with PTSD and other mental issues. My neurologist and psychiatrists said "NO" to decreasing my Xanax. I had to go to 4 different psychiatrists to find one that would slowly bring me down to avoid seizures etc. Anyway, the next time I saw my pain management Dr and told him I had done what he asked her cut my pain meds anyway so I got to go through months of opiate withdrawal mixed with half my normal anticonvulsants/anxiety.... I am seriously considering going to Switzerland and resolving the issue for good. I have not had Marijuana in over 20 years but thought it may be a way to get through the day of being stuck in a house and in pain all day but it sounds like I would not be able to find a doctor who would treat my pain with the medications I am currently on. That sucks.

Hey there! My understanding is most the places worth a darn a cash only so your in/out of network labs doesn't. Matter. The. 250-300 a month should cover the UAs and yes for what I recall being told, it's been every time...,sorry about grammar etc. Super rough morning.

Thanks for responding, Skip... yeah, my past and present pain management experiences have the cost of the lab testing included in the monthly fee... I just thought I had read a month or so ago that Dr. Hong charged for the lab fees in addition to the office visit fee... I may have been mistaken.

Oh, and Skip, so sorry to hear about your morning not going well... I hope you are feeling a bit better this afternoon.

Labs are crazy... I am tested everytime... most visits he just uses used the cup and doesn't send ut off for DETAILED analysis. So its always $100 but when he sends it off to have it analyzed more thoroughly it's $220, that's in Network lab and I have private Healthcare, Medicare and a supplement plan on my Medicare

Kinda curious - I was looking back through the forum because I couldn't remember the name I'd used here previously... duh. I finally remembered the name, but that's not the point.

I used to post here under the name 'Skeptic'. I remember a number of you, but you've likely forgotten me. Cindy, Rainbowflowers, Original Wendy, JetMech and others I see are still here. Cindy, you were going to see a rheumatologist due to rashes with fibromyalgia when we last corresponded, I think. Hope that turned out well for you. Hope I'm remembering the correct person! This post is long.

I never mentioned the doctor or the pain practice by name that I was so skeptical about. I alluded to him and the pain practice, yes. Kind of odd, would you agree? Then again, I may have simply missed my old posts, but don't think so. I looked again this evening before deciding to post this.

I was a pain patient for fifteen years. I was sent to a detox hospital to go thru a sudden complete detox that was devastating in 2013. I could no longer afford the meds I was on. Out of pocket costs were staggering.

My underlying chronic viral illness flared up badly in the hospital. I also had a horrible allergic reaction to Neurontin. The doctors and nurses in the hospital knew I was in trouble - not from the detox, but from my illness. They actually told me it scared them because they didn't understand what was happening to me. They don't normally witness people experience chronic illness flareups like I had. My doctor at the time didn't or wouldn't (?) return their calls to him. I was on a LOT of medication before this detox, Fentanyl being the med that caused me to be hospitalized.

I've had zero pain medications since April 2014 and have been miserable, mostly housebound and irritable ever since. The irritability waxes and wanes as my pain levels rise and fall. I'm at level 6-7 or higher on the pain scale every day, pain worsens as the day goes along. My bones ache, horrible headaches that aren't migraine ... blah, blah.

I couldn't afford suboxone or the doctors who prescribed it. until recently. Due to a change in my personal life, suboxone may be an option at this point, but other doctors have expressed concerns about suboxone and breakthrough pain for me. Because my pain is caused by my central nervous system, I still haven't found a pain management doctor willing to treat it - even with records from doctors who deal with my chronic illness and the doctors at the detox hospital. X-rays and MRIs don't show nerve pain. My pain evidently mimics that of multiple sclerosis (MS). I've been fully evaluated for MS twice and do not have it.

I wrote about the doctor and pain practice whose care I was under for just under six years, never mentioning names or specifics on this forum. I wrote about DORA.gov (Department of Regulatory Agencies) where patients can check into their CO doctors' histories etc online. The doctor I was seeing was reprimanded in 2013, sanctioned, then had his license suspended and revoked in 2015. The doctor begged for mercy, got his license to practice medicine returned to him but lost his ability to legally prescribe controlled meds. Evidently what happened to me, happened to others under his care.

The fear of the DEA is very real for doctors in CO.

Btw- The doctor I discussed above, was reprimanded for recommending medical marijuana to patients and writing prescriptions for it without the correct license to do so. The doctor himself told me this happened because marijuana is legal in CO, but still illegal in the eyes of the Federal government, ie: DEA etc. Just thought I'd contribute that bit of info to the latest discussion.

Mac died......a doc won't help him.
If you want any input, people will want to know where in CO you will need a doctor.
No one will give their doctors name, but in Tue last page or 2, the most popular pain docs are named.

Hey Rainbow Flowers it's Chaos, well I'm needing to renew (not my MMJ card) in about 10 days. I had to go back a few pages to find the Dr.s info, it's not the easiest to find. I have a question, I use MMJ but I just left my old scrappy state and I'm here but I don't have a card when I get u/a will I get in trouble? I don't have enough for the 69 bucks on top of the first visit fee. Any input would be nice. I'm also trying to be somewhat discreet . Thank you
