Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 158)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Co Susie & rainbow (3142 & 3143) - What Cindy said is right (3149). Kind of like when a store does a soft opening. Maybe some kinks to work out, but the service is available for people to use. If you are interested in attending a chronic pain support group from your computer (or phone / tablet / etc), the first session will be next week, and then held every Wednesday after that at 9pm Eastern time.

Rainbow, I went back after I went to MCNP. clinic I went and saw another Doctor there. I had scheduled my appointment with Dr but I got there two and a half hours early because I had to take the bus so I ended up seeing a different doctor. I was surprised to see that he was willing to help me to give me something for pain and also something to help me sleep at night; as long as you don't see Theresa. try Dr Cook or Dr Chad Luccl. just keep in mind they say its mandatory every month you will have to take a UA. they didn't use to do that there when I went to them 5 years before but they do it now and I understand why. they wanna make sure patients are taking medication again right and not taking any illegal drugs. if you do not have luck with them try MCNP clinic North Aurora area Dr Sean Lloyd. when I went in to see this new doctor at Rocky mountain medicine I told him exactly what happened with theresa how she treated me, making me feel like I was some kind of drug addict which I'm not. all she wants to give out is non narcotics. Everything she was given me did not help me at all. I saw her for year. got tired of her attitude. I had to look for another doctor and another clinic when I found out that I could see other doctors at Rocky, that is when I decided to go back and see them again. Let me know if this works out for you ok.

Jay,

I'm not sure what part of town u live in but here's some names u may want to check out! It's ok to "interview" the doc's as long as u don't get scripts from multiple doc's and I encourage that! CPR is in Wheatridge, they r pretty accessible from any place in town, I live way south of town, close to the Springs and I can b there in twenty minutes! Their staff now is very well read and they also offer suboxone therapy, Dr Rock Navarrah, u may want to check with me about spelling, he's in the Cherry Creek area, a very kind and compassionate doc, he does inj. and interventional medicine as well, Colo Reb, has multiple offices across town, they r great if u do need rehab such as pt, ot, inj. to electric stimulus! I especially like Dr Primack and he is hard to get into, expect a month for a visit but they do hold "emergency" slots! Dr Ciacca, is in the Aurora area! He requires a prescription for an appointment but if u need the up to date infusion treatments where pain meds r infused directly to the area or want electric stimulus, he's the guy to see! So he could require two appointments to c someone to refer u but if u need these types of therapies, he's your guy! All names provided here have been used by actual clients, so there really isn't a bad referral, it's more what u want and need! If u have been through the ringer, done it all and all u require is scripts for your meds, CPR is probably your best bet! It's easy to get into as far as scheduling appointments, u probably can get in within a few days, they do require like most pain clinics, a referral and a recent mri and here in Denver, that's the norm! They r working on Taking Medicaid but u can expect cash or credit card for about $200 for the first boat and about $180 after! Dr Navarrah takes most insurances, I know he takes Medicare! Colorado Rehab also takes most insurances! Dr Chiacca, I'm not so sure, I know he does take Medicare, I'm not sure about Medicaid! I also have other names but these guys have a range of personalities and what they "specialize" in, so they r a good start! If u have questions, everybody here is super helpful and it's good to have multiple opinions! The bottom line is u need to feel comfortable with who is treating u! I hope this helps!

To Rainbow, ColoSusie and all others, Ah!! Duh!! I can't believe the "Beta" deal got me also! I'm getting a new computer tomorrow and will sign up then, my computer was "borrowed" recently and between them hacking into personal information, causing lots of problems with my bank account, they also won't return the computer and car my husband let them "borrow"! Grr! U b kind and get stuck, not nice! Anyway, I've been working most of the time working off my phone and since I work from home on the computer, it's not allowed me to work either! So at this point, I don't have a choice! So I'll be up and running on the site probably tomorrow! I hope that everyone is doing well and I've only been on sporadically, has anyone heard back from Wendy? Last I heard someone tried her and her business and didn't hear back! For some reason, I thought someone had heard from her husband or she shared her husband had gotten a new job and got hurt, if I remember right but I wondered if someone had his info! I'm just concerned we haven't heard back!

I hope everyone is well and I just have to say, Rainbow, u r appropriately named! U bring a smile to my face and r genuinely a wonderful person! I read your posts and they make me smile! Not that everyone doesn't do that, everyone here is wonderful and I enjoy all of u but Rainbow just has this pixie like quality that gives me hope!

Chatty, I know of them but I haven't heard any feedback recently about them! I'll make some calls tomorrow and will post for u what I find out! I'm also not sure that the doc I worked with first name was that, it was quite a bit of time since I sent anyone to them! I will check though! Take care!

does CPR still use Charles as their "pharmacy provider"?

Chatty, You r so sweet! U guys r all the greatest!
Lucy, Yes, CPR does use Charles and in speaking with others, you don't HAVE to! If you have a specific reason why u don't want to use them and have been consistent with your program, they do allow u to go to your own pharmacy! They r reasonable folks and just talk with them!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

So dam sad! This was best friend, and just reading this makes me sick. Someone on this forum gave him a list of doctors for him to get mess from. And one doctor gave him way to much, and he died in his dam sleep. Wow! Life is way more important than a bottle of blue pills.

Vin898 1st and 4 most we all are very upset and shocked over mac686 we are feel sad hurt upset BUT HE STARTED this forum ok so before you come on here bashin and blaming us get it rite cuz he has touch us all and we all had are on moments with him and he help us all in very way he could. Dont come on here trying to push us over ain't gonna work MAC was grown and had been on pain meds longer then some of us have. He knew the risk of taking the meds he was on I dont believe Mac would take too many, he was very responsible and took them how he was suppose 2 with all my talks with Mac or see in him he never looked or act like he was over doing his meds. He had been on those meds for years he say he knew the meds that work 4 him and had the dr give him wat he had always been on. If u were so close to him like u say then MAYBE U SHLD OF QUESTION Mac yourself instead of blaming us. Most of us here only talked with him threw email or this site. I think blaming us on here is nt going to help. If he was over medicating on nt tryin to speak with his dr its not our fault PERIOD...if Mac was abusing like u say it was his choice nt us he found this site in other to help others who cldnt find a dr who understood pain management.. I understand how u feel cuz my brother OD but blaming us isn't the answer if u or any of his family friends thought he was then 1 of them shld of talked with him. We on this site are nt bad ppl we are treated diff from regular ppl cuz we are pain management ppl we get enough B******* from drs ppl anyway we dnt need it from you. We support each other here cuz we can't get it from u regular ppl like u cuz we always get blamed cuz we are pill poppers we pill heads we druggies blah blah blah Mac helped us all believe we werent. How dare u come on here and blame us for Mac maybe u shld be mad at urself maybe u shld of tried helpin him WE here no all rules of pain management we are all adults here dnt come on here with ur blaming B******* after 6 months sayin its are fault. This is OUR FAMILY HERE WE SUPPORT EACH OTHER LIKE FAMILY SHLD REGARDLESS OF WAT WE TAKE OR WHO WE ARE and im nt gonna let u come on here bulling scaring or blaming none of us GO ELSE WERE with ur blaming s*** cuz frankly I ain't having it

Vin, I am so sorry for your loss. We were all very fond of Micah. We are all here, not to find a doctor that will give us pills, but to find the right pain management system for each of us. Meds are just 1 part of a mosaic of things that come together in an effort to live a normal life. Thanks to Micah a group of us have been able to find the support we need. We also have been able to weed out the drug abusers. Please know that we all look forward to a time that we are healed enough to be medication free. Or for someone like me a cure for a disease that causes permanent deformities and pain. If there is anything we can do, even just lending an ear, please let us know. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

Vin,
I think I speak for the whole forum when I say Mac's death deeply affected all of us!
I think it also gives us the opportunity to discuss a responsibility that we should have to one another! To refer people to responsible law-abiding doctor's. Not to doctor's or clinics that just give people what they want! As much as a group we complain about new regulations and doctor's offices most are trying to protect us!
This topic is very close and dear to me and as many of you that have been here for a long time will remember, I actually stopped participating with the group when folks dosages and what doctor would provide what type of medication and how much was given by whom occurred! I was pretty vocal, as I saw this as drug seeking behavior and said so!
I was upset by the posts as I had just lost a friend that was 20 years old! She was given a large amount of medications from multiple doctors, fell asleep on her best friends lap to watch a movie, never to wake up again. Like you Vin, it made me sick to see people act like it was a game of who could get more meds.
As hard as it is to respond to Vin's post, it serves to remind each and everyone of us that only we control what we take. We take these medications because of horrible diseases and injuries that allow us to live somewhat a normal life. As much as we help to provide names of doctors that we know that function within regulations, we need to remember these medications can and do kill. Please, as bad as a day can be or although you have taken more before, dont. Your body may not be used to it.
Additionally, don't give out names of doctor's that "bend" the rules. Be responsible to others, if folks want to know what your doctor gives you or you know someone has been to multiple doctor's, help them out and ask before you just answer their questions.
All I'm asking is we post information of responsible professionals. We can't change the past but we can make a difference in the future. We can't change what someone personally does or the choices they make but let's help folks to make good decisions.
Vin, We dearly miss Mac! I'm sorry if you feel someone here gave out a list with irresponsible doctors on it. Sharing your side helps all of us and we thank you for that!

Thanks Janey. I replied to Vin too...it's been held in admin for the day. Once again you're a voice of reason in unreasonable situations. Xoxo

Janeygirl,
You are so kind. As sarah said, you are a voice of reason. I didn't react as well to vin898 post, so decided not to respond. As you said, we are all very sad to have this happen to Mac.

Susie I didn't take it well either and then I got a pic on fb from my BFF. She does have a problem with her ADHD meds and while they won't kill you they have made a very real medical issue even more complicated. So many (her husband) refuse to accept that mental health and physical health are one in the same. Like our pain it's invisible for the most part. I instantly had a small drop of where Vin was coming from. She's family, a sister that replaced my biological sisters. If I lost her to medication I would have been way more vocal than Vin. My heart and non-functioning tear ducts weep for our loss.

The battles we fight are illusive for they're invisible, they rely on perception as a gauge for tolerance in dosage as well as pain level. Our different ailments can be hard to diagnose, and most if not all treatments have a high probability of dependence. This doesn't even touch on the possible abuse factor. How can I expect Vin to be calm when in all likelihood he's not in chronic pain from chronic disease or injury and there are days I question myself and the treatment choices I've made. All I know is that Janey was right on in her post and I hope we can help each other get through this, Vin included.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say hi and see how everyone is doing. I was so sad to hear about Micah's passing, I do keep in touch with MtnGrl on FB and that's about it. I plan on posting more again, I hope everyone is doing okay!

OT, but my husband has a prescription for 10mg Percocet and they refilled it digitally this past month as part of a new "trusted" program, has anyone else had this? He gets 75 a month but he was short 15. He didn't call the pharmacy because he thought they would think he was lying (how could you prove that anyway) just curious if anyone experienced this before!
