Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 149)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

You must understand one thing , you mention your back will heal . It will not. Surgery is risky even now in this day and age. One thing I can tell you is this , I have found rest , watching how I move by bending , warm baths , posture, and no lifting has helped me.
Do all you can possible to stay away from pain management physicians. Do your homework, It is fine to interview physicians first. In doing so , have many copies of your medical records and see the physician has them 2 weeks prior to your appointment. Good Luck.

Phoenix within the past several months we had a lawyer post on here, you may want to go back and look for his information. Clearly your rights were violated when a Dr you had never seen, and certainly never granted permission to speak about you, talked with your current Dr about your medications. That's a big privacy violation. It seems to me your Dr. has you scared to find another Dr. making you think that it's against the law which it is not. You cannot however go from one Doc to the next getting different meds from them. These medical professionals forget we are in charge of our own care and don't need to stay with them if we are unhappy, which clearly you are. I would definitely speak to the lawyer, it's time we show these physicians we are still in control of our own lives and they do not hold all the cards simply because we are in chronic pain and need medical help. I wish I had a Doc I could refer you to.

Rainbow, That's so sweet of u! I saw doc today and it seems to finally b clearing except the middle line of the right chest! They aren't sure it isn't my port that's the issue! U r so right! Those damn breathing treatments make me shake like a leaf and make my heart feel like it's going to jump out of my chest! I kept throwing up the antibiotics, which on a bad back hurts! I hate the hospital I went to but my doc had called to have me admitted but u would have thought I was a drug seeker than someone with bad pneumonia! Once on floor, they were great but that ER, I'll never go again!
Teep, I haven't heard back from! I pray he's ok! I wondered if anyone heard from Wendy or Mac! I wasn't sure with missing some that I missed them! I was worried about Wendy!
I should hear something about Medicaid and CPR this week and will let u know!
Snowbird, No one, including doc's can discuss or give records without your direct permission! It's a clear violation of HIPPA rules! U can call your local hospital to get further information or the state department of health! It's illegal! U r well within your rights to report this doc!
Again, Rainbow thanks for your generousness! U guys r awesome!
Love to all and please b careful! Between the ice and weather lots of folks r getting sick! Take care of yourselves!

Dr. Jeff Kesten is a fair Dr. He will prescribed exactly what you need. Although it will be NO more than you require.Try him at Colorado Clinic in Boulder, Colorado.

Doctors typically will see patients out of state and it's usually not a problem at all. Where you will have trouble is going to be filling your prescriptions. Some pharmacies will not fill medications, especially pain meds, for a non-resident. They are trying to cut down on interstate trafficking out of Colorado. It has become an even bigger issue now that recreational marijuana is legal. You absolutely will not be able to fill you prescriptions out of state. Scripts must be filled in the state the Doctor is licensed. Try filling at small pharmacies and stay away from Major Chains.
Good Luck.

Hi.
I'm in the same boat. But since I was found to be disabled 9 years ago I have Medicaid. I can't find one clinic that will take Medicaid. I've been on methadone 20 mgs. Daily and 30 of morphine IR. I HAVE MANTAINED this dose for 23 years. Never once abused a script. Now my pcp has retired and closed his practice. I don't know what to do. If you found a doc that can help, please lmk.

Alexa,

You say you have been disabled for 9 years. Have you tried to apply for Social Security Disability Income (SSDI)? If you apply and are accepted you will automatically be approved for Medicare insurance after 6 months. This will solve your problem because there are many Pain Docs that accept Medicare Insurance. You can apply online at: socialsecurity.gov. If you are not accepted the first time don't give up. They hope you will, but DONT. You could also try a lawyer, but you should at least try it once yourself, in case you happen to be approved. Most lawyers won't accept your case until you try at least once for the same reasons. Good Luck!

Someone told me to try this thread so here goes. I am moving to Montrose, Colorado and need a Pain Dr. that is comfortable writing for the stronger pain meds. I am legit and have no problem providing records, doing monthly visits or UA's. My current Pain Doc.also said he can speak to whomever is necessary. I am also willing to drive to Grand Junction if need be. Please help, I am moving soon!

Hi JaneyGirl, I am so sorry to hear about your child. I was an organ transplant coordinator for years. All I want to say is, Just because someone has a transplant does not mean things will be better. You say that it would be better than living on Insulin all his life, but I have found that many people have only basically given up one med for another. After the surgery your child will have to take organ rejection medication the rest of his life., and that is only if the surgery goes well. Also organs do not last a lifetime, so he will need another surgery and maybe even a third. After you commit to the first surgery you live your life in fear that your body will reject it. If this happens, and If they cannot find a replacement than your son will need to spend 3-5 times a week committing to dialysis. So being on insulin all him life may be a decision he should make when he is a little older, because it is a decision you both will live with the rest of his life. Please don't think I don't want the best for him, because I do, or I would not have done this type of work. All I am saying is to look at the whole picture and remember organ replacement is not an instant cure for any disease. Good Luck!
