Call Purdue Pharma About New Oxycontin 80mg Op (Top voted first)

This is the number to Purdue when calling select Opt # 2 and explain the adverse reaction that you are having from the new reformulated Oxycontin. The number is 888-726-7535. If the new type is working for you then great. I and several people I spoke with said it gets stuck in your throat even with food. Plus it does not last 12 hour. I understand why they re-made it kids should not take it and as far as how people take it snort, inject or chew its their business. Nobody should tell another ADULT how to live his or her life. Somebody please tell me why you dont just get the 30mg. instant release oxycodone which is much better than the Oxycontin. Take 3 and call me in the morning. You wont be complaining about the Oxycontin reformulation anymore.

I too am having major problems with the new formulation and ended up in the hospital for almost a week because of the problems that the new OP caused and now waiting for prior auth from insurance to change to a different drug because of the side effects. So wrong What this company caused me. They should be paying my hospital bill because it was directly related to new formula. My esophagus was a mess and is still on fire, deveoped raging gerd too, nausea vomiting, couldn't keep anything down, chills, cramping, didn't control pain consisitently as the old ones did. So what angers me is There is a new letter traveling around about Purdue sending notifications to health care providers this past week about several complaints they were receiving about consumers taking the 80 mg's tablets, & having difficulty swallowing or GI problems, but essentially they blamed the patients for not taking correctly instructing the doctors to instruct their patient to take it with a full glass of water, swallow it immediately, whole etc..but nothing that those of us who already take it exactly a prescribed didn't already know and do... but of course no explaination for those complaints from those that were already taking it properly. When you call Purdue they just ask a bunch of questions but don't answer our questions...and ignoring questions about side effects & testing that was done on those new ingredients alone...they only give the same side effects listed from the old formula & say there wouldn't be anew side efffects b/c the active drug is the same. Wrong...what ever's in this new formulation was making me very ill.. Please. if you have throat/GI s/s, Get your doc's to change it before you wait & get as sick as I did requiring hospitaliztion & damaging my GI tract.... Good luck to all..

Curt, you are soooooo right! Because some morons chose to abuse/misuse OxyContin, the patient who I assume it was made for, suffers for the minority of dipwads who snort, inject or stick up their butts, or wherever 'avenue' they can find! It is not fair and I am sick and tired as well over all of this crap! We sure are not teaching accountability and responsibility--for God's sake--keep your kids in sight and watch them and for all of the 'recreational' snorters, etc.--punish them. First, tamper proof bottles even I cannot open, then this s**t. You simply cannot protect everyone from the pitfalls of Life--you either learn to be responsible as an adult or suffer if you screw up--simple. Punish the abusers and illegal dealers of this med and stop punishing us, the innocent patient. It is not Purdue-Pharma's fault--they were forced by this nanny-state Government of ours and have been sued and sued. They finally make a long-lasting med to help us pain sufferers and these a-holes, once again, mess it all up and cost Perdue a s***load of money in legal as well as research dollars. I hope the government reimbursed Perdue-Pharma for this 'reformulation' which they were forced to implement. What's next, forcing banana growers to come up with a "peelless" version so no one accidentally slips on one? This country is going down the tubes with all of this nonsense and I've frankly just about had it! S**t!

I'M A CPP, I HAVE MANAGED TO REMAIN ON THE SAME DOSAGE OF OC FOR 6 YEARS. IN THIS TIME I HAVE RAISED MY NOW NINE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, MAINTAINED A HOME AND MY OWN SMALL BUSINESS. WHICH HAS NOT BEEN EASY DURING THE RECENT ECONOMY (MORE WORK LESS PROFIT THAN BEFORE).

I HAVE BEEN ON THE NEW OP FOR ALMOST A MONTH NOW. I HAVE DAILY HEADACHES, NAUSEA, CRAMPING, AND MOOD SWINGS. NOT TO MENTION THEY REALLY DO NOT WORK CONSISTENTLY,. SOMETIMES I'M FINE, OTHER TIMES ITS LIKE I HAVEN'T EVEN TAKEN THEM. I DO NOT NOR HAVE I EVER ABUSED ANY MEDICATION. IF ANYONE HEARS OF A NEW GENERIC FORM CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL PLEASE POST ASAP. i myself have been on the oc for years. been taking the op also getting headaches,vomitting and my pain due to my diabetic neuropathy has been unbareale.then with me vomitting i have to worry about getting dehydrated.also, noticing i have to take an extra never had to abuse my medications. spoke to the pharnmacist they state whatever purdue sends them is what they end uup with these are not generic the real thing but the way i feel on the op they just dont work. they are slimmy and they are disgusting when they hit your mouth. my question are the oc totally off the market because inn my eyes when somebody gets confortable with the medications why change them. finally, i have medications that i take regualrly down to my insulings my stomach medications and thryoid meds. and for years been feeling good and mow for a mnth been feeling like i have since they switched. this sucks!!!

why would they take a perfectly compensive pain medication and try to ruin it? Take OC to OP. What now we get to ingest rubber binder polymers. Yeah that arubber has no medicinal purpose. what are all those additives? What kind of pill is OP? Protest, fight or flilght? What country are we in?!? Who initiatied this discontinue on Medicine?

I also just wanted to include the FDA number, as it is very important that they are informed of the problems, as well. They are a government agency and while it is not an action they often take, they can cause a stir and step in, if need be.

i have been on oc 80 and oc 40 for 10yrs and the new ones make me sick i have gerd and wen i throw up there slimmy and gluey i cannot re-takethem so i end up short before my 30day refill i was already early every 28-29 days due to my gerd but with these new ones im going into withdrawl cause i cant get my meds any earlier my headaches are worse and stomach ache i dono what else to ask my dr to swich me to cause im scared nothing else will work this sucks that im pain free now but have bad side effects with these new ones please bring my old ones back

Been taking Oxycontin for a few years now I guess. Im on the 60mg 3 times a day. I have to tell ya, they don,t give me any releif and I very bad headache. There is alo of abuse wih this medication. However, every other pain medicine thats on the market as well. The purpose of this change I would have to say is not because of people dying from it. because there isn't people dying from it. There has only been 100 deaths hat have been related to oxy but there were othere factors like the victims were also on downers. Thats what kills. So why did purdue do this... There are more people dying of tylenal in this country every year than there is from oxycodone. I think somebody should wake up. Abuse is never going away. But you can stop the rate that people are dying if you take the right stop off the market. i totally believe there was a different motive behind the new ops. Why would anyone put a opiod blocker in the best pain reliever on the market???? Think about it.

I have problems to and about had a nervuos breakdown because I have terminal cancer and this drug doesn't help me and has changed my
personaiity to the point I was not me while taking this drug. I have to deal with Chemo, bones hurts, just 24/7 pain with Cancer and there is no cure for MetAstatic stg IV Cancer I have, and got so sick while taking this med, but have notes of changes and everything that brought us to OxyContin OP. By the way, as far as I know just heard tested on RATS, will check and let u know. Before the do a recall, and they should ASAP, they will have a lot of big lawsuits, and I will be on to that also. I will tell u that the ones who say no difference, well they r not taking for pain like Chronic Pain that it was made for to help. I for one last month have had so many friends and family members, when they've been around me since on OP, have asked what's wrong with me, well I am in pain, worse side effects, (didn't have these B4) so can prove its OP and do have proof since this last perscription I rec'd was OCs, I CRIED and said Thank you Jesus because don't know what I would have done if still had to take them, and you can ask why take them, well I'm dying anyway and I'm taking them to prove MY point, ( no drug abuser here) say what u will, but can take this risk because I am TIRED of OUR government letting this happen and I blaim the DEA, FDA, the Gov and it will all come out, trust me. I was so sick when I picked, my son had to take me, like I said when I saw it was OCs I took one emedieatly and in 30 to 45 mins. I felt like a different person, pain was going, it never completely goes away, just let's me wAnt to LIVE. I don't know, but I think God made me get the OCs, he has plans for me and he new and knows while on OPs I would have tried to killed myself to get out of what I was going thru. Also, now I have been happy the last week and half since taking OCs and have already making the friends, and Family members who sees the difference to start writing the letters of what they saw me as while on OPs and now on OCs, so have witnesses!!!!!!!! I will see Dr and tell him all this and talk to my Attorney on looking into this. When r we gonna stop letting others control our lives and just stay sick and God Knows what elses, cause I'm here to tell u, I will not take these OPs and the many who have complained and FDA and who ever else will be the cause of my death, this is all in MY opinion, now explain what u think? I will get next prescription in 3 weeks and prob will b OPs and I will let u and everyone else know what happens. Come on let's March together and Stand up and please go on the internet and you can look all there is on OPs and keep a Log on those effects, I am. I also was taken the new OPs!! I hated them! Got stomach cramps & was in pain all day & night!! I took them for about 3 weeks! Then my doctor changed the OPs to opana er 30mg, I'v been taken those for 2 days now & hate them too!! Im still in alot of pain & they make me very tierd! I called the FDA & they didnt care! Im hoping & praying that will all the problems with the OPs, they will take them off the market & get the old ones back!! I know so many people that has changed there meds & will not take the OPs anymore! My doctor said I was the 17 person that he has changed their meds cause of the OPs!!! does anyone know what the FDA is gonna do about this??

I want to thank EVERYONE for their post on this subject of the newly formulated OC. I thought I was going crazy, and as controversial as this Subject is, it makes you afraid to approach your Pharmacist OR Doctor for fear they will think that you are abusing it and that is why it no longer is working. I, like the rest of you am having headaches the nausea and vomiting after I started my newly filled prescription last month. It has been AWFUL. I also get from my Dr. the 5mg IR's for Break-through-Pain and Thank You God for that because I don't know what I would do if I could not get some kind of relief though not much with these. I also have had trouble with it getting stuck in my throat, not every time of course but considering I never did with the original OC, it seems like it is often. I am in so such Pain I have added Ibuprofen, I bought this bottle 4 (four) days ago and I have already taken over 60 of them, I know that is way too much but desperate times call for desperate measures!! I will use the information that you guys have posted ie: the phone numbers. I realize that abuse of this medication has sky-rocketed BUT please Purdue don’t punish the people that depend on this medication to be able to do their ADL’S. I Live alone and I DO NOT have anyone to help me with day to day living activates, and with out pain medication that works, I CAN NOT do them.

as i wrote on 10/16/10. has ANYONE broke out in a severe rash from the new op's!! I take oxy's 80mg-now qo's! never had this problem before. i'm due to have a very invasive back surgeeery @ Darthmouth hichcock hospital, in Lebonan, nh, in 10 days, have been waiting for this surgery for almost 1 year! NOW, I HAVE THIS RASH ALL OVER MY BODY,I DO BELEIVE IT'S FROM THE OP-'S. WHICH ALSO QUOTED AS A SIDE EFFECT. my DR. DOESN'T BELEIVE THAT IS THE REASON FOR THE RASH..FUNNY HUH??? I CALLED THE 888 # FOR PURDUE TODAY, GOT THIS WOMEN THAT ASKED LOTS OF QUESTIONS, BUT WHEN I ASKED WHAT THE TYPE OF GLUEY CRAP THEY PUT IN THEM WAS, SHE SHUT UP, AND TOLD ME TO GO ON PURDUE'S WEBSITE. SHE GAVE ME ALL THESE OTHER INGREDIENTS THAT SHE SAID SHE HAD ACCESS TOO, BUT NOT THE GLUE CRAP!! THIS IS A SHAME THAT ALL OF US THAT DON'T ABUSE THEM, HAVE TO SUFFER LIKE THIS!! WTF! I have been taken oxcontin for 7 years. I never knew how much they were doing until the new formula was released. I thought I had a stomach bug or food poisoning.2 weeks went by before I notice the different in the pills. Since taken them I ended up having my gall bladder removed. I lived a painful life before with the pills now I'm in agony. #18 its funny you know how much they are worth and you really shouldn’t make accusations about people you have never met. You should be ashamed. I make plenty of money working every day and I could be collecting my disability but chose to work and provide a nice living for my family. I now have gotten used to feeling the broken l1 and l5 and the pins in my ankles and knees. The new pills do not work and have terrible side effects. All others knock me out completely so I can only take them before bed. I feel sorry for all the people like myself that need the pills and now can’t get them. It’s really sad that we have to suffer in this day in age. I hope they change the formula somehow and we can get the same pain management we had before. God bless
