What Does Three Tid Mean

What does it mean to take three tablets daily? Do I take three at once or at three separate times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner)? ## If all it says is to take "3 tablets daily" you should take them all at once, unless otherwise noted. Especially prednisone. Otherwise it would say "take 1 tablet 3 times a day (tid)", or "1 tablet up to 3 tablets daily as needed (prn)". ## Hi Sharlene, It depends if the more detailed instructions say "3 tablets once per day" or "1 tablet 3 times per day". If they indicate something more like one tablet at a time (3 times per day), this generally indicates 1 tablet every 8 hours (unless otherwise noted). greetings all, I have a rx for 1 to 3 tab tid for endocet 10/325. my question is what does it mean when there is a sticker on the back of the rx with a number 1, next to it is a number reading #1, 6202....#2, 2189...#3, 311... under the hand written digits is pre printed wording reads; PLAN: Pt. being seen on a monthly basis for pain management. can anyone tell me why those four and one three digit numbers are on the reverse side of my post dated script???? ## @Swtp, I could very well wrong in assuming this, but it sounds to me like these are simple codes pharmacies use in order to help keep things organized within their own database of prescriptions. With thousands of medications on file, it would probably be a nightmare if you didn't have some sort of way to keep track of them all...

My daughter has just been given this prescription: DILAUDID – 8 MG Take 3 Tabs PO TID for PRN 30Days Qty:270 Repeats:0 What does it mean? ## 3 pills twice a day for 30 days no refills, this is an unusual rx what is it for? ## The PO means per oral route, so that means to swallow them and the TID actually means three times in a day. Twice in a day would be BID. This is Dialudid, which is a very potent narcotic, so being told she can take 3 of them at once is very unusual and if she isn't tolerant to narcotics, they could make her ill, so she might not want to start with 3. We need to know what 1 tab po TID means? Also BID. Any other RX instructions would be helpful. ## po means by mouth (per oral), tid is: three times a day, bid is: twice a day . (b=bi)
