How long after taking flagyl does your tongue stay white?I took 1000 miligrams for 7 days Monday was my last day and I still have a white tong ## Hi shawna, According to the link below, symptoms of "furry tongue, mouth or tongue irritation" can be a common side effect of Flagyl: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0000888/ I do not however know the length of time that your tongue stays that way. I can only assume that it will eventually subside soon after you stop taking what's causing it. Have you discussed this concern with your doctor yet?

Nearing end of prescribed course after wisdom tooth extraction, now feeling extremely ill last 3days progressing to aching joints all over body and the rib area barely touchable due to same bone like pain, metallic taste, numbness and pins and needles in arms hands, lower legs and feet, speech slightly slurred (thought this was due getting the two teeth removed leaving large gap) and tip of tongue very sore but no furring or signs of thrush inside the mouth, runny stools and skin above one wrist now very red and inflamed and starting to bruise. This 43yr old has had stomach cancer previously and had radiation treatment, don't know if this is significant, but says this is way he felt before being diagnosed, same awful joint and rib pain. Does anyone have any remedies to get over the side effects of Flagyl or does anyone know of a Doctor that acknowledges the side effects? ## eat yogurt or drink happy milk. the acidophalus in them will help. ## I wished i knew how to get over this side affects of this awlful drug. they gave it to me in hospital and now i'm so sick , it almost killed me. please if anyone can help me get better from this let me know. i'm still so weak . it's even hard to type this .thank you for hearing me out. my stomache is kkilling me. and i'm so sick all over. ## If you have stopped taking the drug, they will eventually go away on their own. I am predisposed for C- Diff so my doc to take Fadgyl along antibiotics - I have been off for two days and am so sick and weak and spicy- almost passed out as a heat flash came overmen while shopping and my knees got weak - did not think I would make it home - I am so tired - feel depressed- and crying a lot - so afraid somethings really wrong after this medicine - colon a mess too - this is the most awful drug out there - when will it go away - i can't function this way - --- ## Hello, Francis! I went to the ER and was treated for an allericic reaction to flagyl. I had a rash, shortness of breath, severe heartburn and stomach cramps. How long do these symptoms last after being treated in a local ER? ## What type of treatment did the ER provide? It can take a week or two, for all of the symptoms to clear up, depending on how much you had taken, how long you took it and etc., according to the NIH. Such reactions usually get worse, with repeated exposure, though, so it would likely be best to avoid taking this medication in the future.

I used flagyl almost 4 months ago for 7 days. I still have a terrible, sometimes salty, sometimes metallic taste in my mouth. Is this long term side effect at all normal? ## According the drug's side effect profile, a sharp, unpleasant metallic taste is not unusual. I've also heard that Peppermint candy seems to help, since it increases saliva production and masks the metallic taste. It probably won't make it go away, but should certainly make it more tolerable. I have been taking this medication for 7 days and off of it since a week and still have severe side effects, abdominal cramps, severe headaches, dizziness, unsteadiness... How long is it expected to last? It was prescribed with Ciprofloxacin to me and I take Entrophen on a regular basis... ## Have things improved any? Have you consulted your doctor? I have been given flagyl and vagaisil...but i started taking them this will be my 3rd day but i am getting abdominal pain and cramps really bad. The laboratory test shows that i am infected by amoebiasis.doctor instructed me to take flagyl 2 tablets 3 times per day. due to chronical reason of amoeba my play mate who is a doctor advices me to take 8 tablets at a go per days for 3 days. i see now i am discomofort and i have discharged faeces for five days now.are the effect of the said above? ## Don't take this its poison ## I wouldn't go more then 3 days if thats how it is prescribed to you.... Over doing antibiotics can cause infection also.

My mom is 85 and is in hospitpal with broncites and very bad diareah she has been put onto flagyl which is making her very sick with vomiting tiredness and tummy cramps - is this ok for an 85 year old woman ## Nausea and vomiting are common side effects of metronidazole (flagyl). Course for colitis (lower bowel infection) is 10 days long. As long as her doctors are managing her fluid and electrolyte status she should be OK. You could ask for some antiemetic (antisickness) medication to be prescribed if she is very nauseous.
