I have some white and red patches on my tongue. Doctor prescribed me Methylprednisolone 4mg and first day should take 6 tablets and i should gradually decrease one tablet. And also he gave Valacyclovir HCL 1gm 3 times a day. I started taking this medicine and i took it for one day and next day one tablet, i am felling so depressed and i am feeling tensed and little heavy heart beat than usual. Now i am not feeling like to take that medicine. After a small research i got to know that steroids are not good for health. it even effects immune system. And I am just 25. I don't want to add some more problems for my future. Please help me in some way. Is it okay if i stop taking this medicine suddenly. ## What diagnosis did your doctor provide? My Dr prescribed this to me for hedaches I did not know they were steroids until after I took the 1 dose 2 pills for breakfast and 1 for lunch. I did not finish the fist day dose. I do not want to continue on them however I do not know how to take my self off them please help. ## Hi lolypop, Usually for drugs like this, the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off under a doctor's supervision; if possible. However having only taken the medication for 1-6 days, I almost wonder if you'd even experience withdrawals at all...? None the less, if you are concerned I would definitely encourage you to talk with your doctor about setting up a tapering schedule to ensure that everything goes smoothly. My understanding is that some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut...

I was prescribed methylprednisolone yesterday and took day all 6 pills, now I have a horrible headache. I've had ulcer symptoms before and I take protonix daily, so I take as little excedrin as possible. The headache is horrible. I took an excedrin this morning, and now I want to stop taking the steroid dose pack all together, will that be ok? ## No, you should follow the instructions and taper, otherwise complication can arise that could cause even more serious health issues. Headaches can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to the FDA, along with nausea, dizziness, insomnia and acne. If it's okay with your doctor, you may want to skip Excedrin and try just taking regular Tylenol for the headaches. Is there anything else I can help with? ## How often can a Med...

Three months ago I took the six-day course of methylprednisolone. I did fine, no side effects, but it only helped me for two weeks. It is now two months later and I only made it through day two of the six day regimen and I had horrible side effects so I had to stop. Now I'm considering going for the epidural injections in the spine. Am I going to have severe side effects from that? I'm scared. ## It is possible, all medications, regardless of how they are administered carry the risk of causing side effects. The FDA lists the typical ones for steroids as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, and weigh changes. What are you taking them to treat? ## Thank you for replying to my question. I really appreciate any and all input you can give me because it loo...

I'm on day 3 of a 6 day prescription of Methylpredisolone prescribed for acute bronchitis. My face is extremely flushed and I think it's the med. Is there any danger in stopping before any other symptoms should occur? I'm not interested in subscribing to the health newsletter but hope you will still address my issue. Thank you ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to the FDA and yes, it could be dangerous to stop it, rather than tapering it, as prescribed. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, mood swings, and nervousness. They are usually harmless and should go away a few days after you finish your course of treatment. Are you on any other medications?

I took Methylpredinisolone 4mg pak for 6 days, like 2 days later my headaches are so bad and its all day, yesterday headaches were all day and today same thing. took advil help a little bit.... first I thought it was my sinuses but now I just think its the after effects of stopping the medication?? is this common??? ## Hello, ETAZ01! How are you? I'm sorry about the headaches. Yes, it is possible. The FDA classifies Methylprednisolone as a steroid class medication, so it can cause that, as well as nausea, dizziness, insomnia and elevated blood pressure. It may even be a combination of both having taking the medication and your sinuses. The antibiotic can also cause headaches, in some people that take it. How many more days of it do you have to take? Other antibiotic side effects may...

I was taking the methylprednisolone for some pain I had in my neck and arm. The doctor prescribed the six day pack and I followed the directions and finished the prescription. The problem I'm having now started the day after I stopped taking the medication. The day after stopping the meds I got incredibly dizzy. It's been almost two weeks now and I'm still feeling dizzy. It's not as bad as the first few days but I still feel quite dizzy. It happens all day long and doesn't seem to be effected by movement or food. Could I be having side effects from the meds this long after finishing them? ## Hello, Marcie! How are you? That would be very unusual, though some side effects can linger after you finish your course of it, they usually only do so for a few days to a week. ...

I have shoulder pain and am a diabetic patient. Can I take Predmet tablets for relief of pain? This pain started after catching a chikungunya fever. ## Hi Veena, sorry to hear about your illness and pain. Predmet contains the active ingredient Methylprednisolone, which is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of pain and inflammation (among other things). So yes, in the short term, it will probably help with pain relief. But keep in mind that this kind of drug is not meant to be taken over a long time or stopped abruptly, as some serious side effects may develop. So I would suggest working closely with your doctor while taking this medication, and then gradually lowering your dose until you are off it. Your doc should know this and I'm sure they will have you on an appropriat...

I've taken a methylprednisolone dose pack early October, and I am still experiencing typical withdrawel symptoms, 2 1/2 months later.. low blood pressure, nausea, dizziness, muscle pain, heart palps, alergies, etc. I reacted very badly while taking it, having to stop it the fifth day. How much longer will this go on?? ## I had a similar situation. I stopped taking (weaned off) on December 19. Four weeks out and I'm still having side effects. ## Mayhem, how are you doing now? It's been almost 5 months after my last dose, and I am still dealing with problems, due to the dose pack. Nobody seems to know what is wrong, or how to fix it. I am really frustrated. My biggest problem is that I seem to be allergic to almost everything I eat, yet allergy tests show no allergies. I have ...

I was prescribed methylprednisolone (medrol) after having surgery to repair a herniated disc in my back. I took the 6 day dose pack and had to stop 4 days in for mood swings, aggressiveness, insomnia, trouble breathing, disorganized and repetitive thoughts, paranoia, just too many to list. I had to sit in a dark room for hours on end just to gather my thoughts at times and avoided people entirely. The worst of it lasted for about 7 days, it's now been over 2 weeks since I stopped taking it. I thought I was out of the woods until the mood swings started again 2 days ago out of nowhere. Thankfully I have 1 month left to recover from back surgery before returning to work. I hope the symptoms go away by then. My advice, ask your doctor if there is an alternative medication you can take ...

He also prescribed hydroxyzine pamoate 50 mg capsules. The methylprednislone makes me feel weird can I stop taking it. ## Hello, Misty! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. What type of symptoms are you experiencing? Methylprednisolone is a steroid class medication, so it is normal for it to cause some side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, irritability, weight gain, fluid retention and headache, as listed by the FDA. However, you shouldn't stop it, without your doctor's approval. I also had a bad reaction to Bactrim and, by itself, it took several weeks for all of my allergic...
