How long after taking Tylenol 3 is it safe to take Norco? ## Hello, Kellie! How are you? Have those both been prescribed for you? It's very uncommon for someone to be permitted to double up on the Acetaminophen that these both contain, due to the dangerous risks of overdose, which could be fatal. The FDA classifies this medications as narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. It would be best not to mix them, or to replace one with the other, if switching medications, at the next dosing time, with your doctor's approval. ## They like u to wait 4 to 6 hours before switching to another type of pain medication but there is actually no drug interaction bewtween th...

I had ankle surgery yesterday and they put 2 plates and 10 screws in my ankle. I was prescribed Tylenol 3s and ibuprofen 800mg when I went to the urgent care the day before surgery and was prescribed Valium 5mg and Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen 10-325 after surgery. Would it be safe for me to take a Valium 5mg and Tylenol 3 together for the pain to hold me over until it’s time for me to take my Norco again in 3 hours? Please advise. Thank you. ## You should not combine the Tylenol 3 and Norco, since they both contain opiate narcotics, as well as Tylenol/Acetaminophen. You should really stick with one, or the other. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. Why...

Can I take a norco and Tylenol 3 at the same time I am passing kidney stones and in pain very bad pain!! ## No, you shouldn't combine them, that could cause you to ingest a toxic amount of Acetaminophen, since it's in both of these medications. Too much Acetaminophen could cause liver damage or liver failure and an overdose has the potential to be fatal. This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Additionally, you'd be doubling up on narcotics, since the Tylenol 3 contains Codeine and the Norco contains Hydrocodone. They can both cause depression of the central nervous system, which could cause shallow breathing, lowered heart rate and lowered blood p...

Just need to know if I can alternate between norco and Tylenol 3 with codeine? I cannot get any more detailed than that ## Hello, Jenny! How are you? That can be done, as long as your doctor has prescribed them both for you and approves. Note the word ALTERNATE. They should not be taken at the same time. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. Are you on any other medications? ## Can I take 1 tablet of Norco 7.5 plus 1 tablet of tylenol 4? ## Not recommended, especially not at the same time. Norco contains one opioid ingredient (Hydrocodone), whereas Tylenol # 4 contains Codeine, which is another opioid ingredient. Also, they both contain Acetamino...

Can i take norco 7.5-325 with tylenol for arthritis? I have rheumatoid arthritis and am having a flare up. I am swollen and stiff and in a ton of pain. ## Hello, Annette! How are you doing? No, Norco contains Hydrocodone and Acetaminophen (Tylenol), so it could result in overdose toxicity, if you take more Tylenol with it. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Tylenol really doesn't do a lot to alleviate the swelling, anyway. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories usually help more. What has your doctor suggested you take for it?

How many tylenol 3s equal a 10/325mg norco? ## Hello, Yoyo! How are you? Codeine is actually a very weak opiate, so it would take 66.67mgs of it to equal each 10mg Hydrocodone. But, you can't double up, without your doctor's permission, due to the Acetaminophen in them. Taking too much of it in any 24 hour period could result in fatal toxicity, liver damage or liver failure. The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Why would a doctor switch a person that's been on Hydrocodone-Apap 7.5/325mg to Tylenol 3?

Hi, I started the Tylenol 3 because I feel jittery on Norco 5/325. I've found it is mild, but better to take for pain while I'm at work. Is it okay to take one tab twice a day of Tylenol 3, then in early evening take one 5/325 Norco? The Norco works better for the pain, but don't want to take that at work. ## Yes. Do not take more than 8 of either pill in a 24 hour period due to Tylenol content and put 4-6 hours between your last codeine dose and the norco to be safe. ## What has your doctor advised you to take? That is really the deciding factor. The FDA warns that both of these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. ## My PC doc couldn't figure out why I was feeling...

The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. I've been on Tylenol with Codeine for years and the pain has gotten worse... ## Usually, unless your doctor or pharmacist has instructed otherwise, you can do a clean switch at the next dosing schedule. The FDA warns that these medications carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth. the Norco is stronger than the Codeine, so it would be best not to double up, until you see how it is going to affect you. How do I tell my dr. that the Tylenol 3 is not strong enough and I'm taking more than 2 a day. I ALSO HAVE HEP C+, WHAT SHOULD I be taking/ ## Hello, Cindy! How are you? The Codeine in these Tylenol formulations is actually a very weak opiate, you'd need 33.33mgs of it to equal each 5mgs of Hydrocodone in the Norco. The FDA lists these medications as being narcotic analgesics, so they have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Switched pain doctors and went from Tylenol-4 four times a day to Norco 5/325 four times a day. Will the level of pain relief be the same, less or more? ## It really depends on how it works for you. The FDA warns that this medications carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. ## FDA wants to prescribe the more expensive ones. I'm taking Norco 10/325 for a hip replacement but I have a bad toothache so should I take Tylenol or ibuprofen for the pain until I can get to the dentist next week? ## Hello, Diane! How are you? Norco actually contains 2 active ingredients, Hydrocodone which is a narcotic, and Acetaminophen, which is the pharmaceutical name for Tylenol. Thus, it would not be safe to double up on it. Additionally, the Norco itself should actually help, it is commonly prescribed for toothaches. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. When will you be seeing your dentist?

I have a broken rear tooth and infection that is very painful. I will be seeing my dentist tomorrow, but he has prescribed me Tylenol 3, once every 3-4 hours. About a year ago for a similar problem he prescribed me Norco, which I still have a few left. I've taken 3 T3 today, but am wondering if it would be ok for my next dose, which will be in about 3 hours, could I switch to Norco? I've read that Norco is more powerful than the T3, and I'd obviously prefer to have as little pain as possible before I see my dentist. ## Hello, Sam! How are you?
