Is this medication for yeast infection and can i still take it if the experation date is 03/11/10? ## No and no. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and, as such, it can actually cause a yeast infection, it will not clear one up. My wife is taking AMOX TR-K CLV 500-125. She is having a burning sensation around the lips of her fijuana. Can this medication cause this? Thank you. PS: I am not sure how to spell fijuana??? Also, it does not burn when urinating. ## Hi Oxbow, Are you referring to your wife's vaginal area? The burning sensation is most likely being caused by a yeast infection; caused by a common fungus known as Candida. Normally the acid balance of the vagina keeps this fungus from multiplying, but changes in the acidity of the vagina (often due to illness, menstruation, pregnancy, some antibiotics, or birth control pills) can stimulate yeast growth. The AMOX TR-K CLV (Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium) your wife is taking is an antibiotic so that's most likely the cause of the yeast infection...
