I just wanted to let people know that I felt the vets did a poor job of believing the secondary symptoms of zonisamide. My dog, Ivy, has been having seizures for over a year now and we started with phenobarb, which she is still on, Zonisamide about eight months ago. The Zonisamide made a small difference in the primary seizures but she started having dry mouth and coughing almost immediately, then after several months, reddish patches on her left side and sores inside on the right side of her mouth (much less on the left side of her mouth). Three or four different vets tried to tell me she was just going to bleed out and I should put her down. I demanded that we start Lyrica and gradually take her off the Zonisamide. Lyrica is more expensive, but I have found that the improvement is wel...

it read that it's for controlling seizures (epilepsy). Nothing about migraines. ## can you explained why it was given or migraines? ## That's why it was prescribed to me but I stopped taking it because of the side effects. ## Hello, Puddlin! How are you? Many medications treat multiple conditions and these antiseizure ones have been shown to help with migraines, some mood disorders and certain types of nerve pain. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, anorexia and memory impairment. Some others that can also cross over and help with migraines are beta blocker blood pressure medications. Some antidepressants can also help with nerve pain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Yes. It does help migraine headaches if you can get past the side effects. For me was itch...

Has anyone else experience this when switching over to the generic = Zonisamide?? ## Hello, Alex! How are yoU? Though it's not listed as a side effect, there have been many complaints about it happening with both the name brand and the generic. Have you discussed it with your prescriber? How much will zonisamide affect oxycontin? I started both meds together. The oxycontin is temporary because of dental work. I just started birth control called enskyce. I queeeze an average of 5 grapefruits a day and drink it all day. I haven't noticed any side effects from zonisamide since I started a week ago on 100 MG for having a grand Mal seizure 6 weeks ago. I did take vitamins really late tonight which is dumb, I know to take then in the am. I took my birth control, zonisamide, centrum silver for women over 50, and some vitamin for hair skin and nails from Walgreens (I'm 26 but my last meds made my hair fail out) and I got super shakey and very alert(3 hrs later I still am) I was very drowsy before the vitamins so I know that was the culprit. It seems like I'm doing a...

Has any one had success with the use of Zonisamide for pain with fibro and if so how long did it take ? Been on one week am at 300mg and do not have any relief yet. ## Zonisamide is another one of the anticonvulsants that's been shown to help some people with certain types of nerve pain, however, it is not actually an analgesic, so it can take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full effect in your body. Has anyone actually used this medication? ## I had disabling fibromyalgia about forty years ago, just before it had a name. It was misdiagnosed as muscle spasms and pinched nerves, which I immediately knew were wrong. My husband had been trained in pharmaceuticals by various companies and managed several pharmacies for his physician brother by that time, so he was no dummy when ...

Take linsopril 5mg1a day bupropion sr 150mg 2a day zonisamide 100mg 4a day birth control 1a day. Lost close to 20 lbs befor linsopril, but haven't been on it a month yet. Seem to have stalled out. Weight is VERY important issue (please don't ask why :) any thoughts? Body need to adjust? Pain/ can't workout like used to ## How long have you been taking the birth control? The reason I'm asking is because if you've been on it for awhile and just recently started the Lisinopril for blood pressure elevation, there's a chance that the contraceptives are what's causing the elevation and you may not need to take another medication. There's a chance it could be resolved by just stopping the hormonal contraceptives. Depending on how high it is, you may need a blood...
