My doctor took me off Lisinopril 10 MG Tab and put me on Losartan 50-12.5MG Tab because my potassium was too high. Looking at the containers each came in, I see that they both have potassium in them. How is it helping to switch me from one to the other except that the Losartan costs more? I have not been able to find out how much potassium is in each drug. ## These medications don't actually contain potassium, the listing as Losartan Potassium, just designates the precise chemical salt that the drug is derived from, not that it contains potassium in the actual sense. I had extremely high blood pressure so my doctor put me on an extra blood pressure pill. My mother is 79yrs old. She has had an Electrolyte problem for the last 2 yrs. Sodium levels are coming down. This is the 3rd year. Even in May of 2010, she began having the same problem. From May 2010 to till Dec 2010 she used Covance 50mg for BP and Wysolone 5mg. She did not have any problem. Soduim levels are 138.4 out of 145 and hemoglobin is 10.4, this result is from mid December. What are the side effects? will I loose erection? ## Well, there's really no way to say whether you will or will not experience such problems, you really have to try a medication and see how it affects you, but yes, erectile dysfunction is a possibility with most blood pressure/cardiac medications. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor? What dosage have you been prescribed?
