Where can I get empirin 4 w codeine these days? Do they still make these pills, which i find better than the tylenol #4. ## I can't find any information on its being discontinued, but I don't believe it is commonly used anymore, so it may be difficult to find. It combines Aspirin with the Codeine and, since the Asprin can be problematic due to side effects such as increased bleeding and stomach problems, many doctors shy away from using it on a regular basis. You can try asking your doctor, or pharmacist if there is one available. Are there any other questions or comments?

Is this still available? It works! ## Empirin compound was the only pain reliever in my home when I was young (60+ years ago). From what I've read, it looks like it was simply aspirin, with no added ingredients, although it worked extremely well on a tooth ache. Was Empirin the forefather of aspirin? ## The compound, such as Empirin 3 contained Aspirin and Codeine, it was a mild opiate pain reliever. The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, and headache. This medication combination is still available as a generic, and among other name brands. However, in the U.S. you do need a prescription from your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?

Did you ever find out? Would appreciate a reply. Thanks. ## The name of the medication is actually Empirin with Codeine, the marking on the tablets is Empirin 3. It contains Aspirin and Codeine, so it's a narcotic analgesic and yes, even several years from the time of the posts asking, in 2013, it is still available. Learn more Aspirin details here and you can learn more Codeine details here. Since it contains a narcotic, it does have the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
