My daughter uses the Daytrana 20 mg patch but not it seems not to be available anywhere near me. I even tried the manufacturer pharmacy locator service and they could not find anyone. I was able to get a one time override to obtain two 10 mg patch to get the required dosage, our pharmacy stated they could get those. Any news as to way not available and when it will be available?

My 8 yr old son has just been prescribed Daytrana Patch. We havent picked it up yet. He was on Focalin and it wasnt good. He was then just kept on intuiv. He almost got hit by the school bus today. so his neurologist prescribed him this patch. Im alittle worried of these new medicines out and just feel for 10 months he has been a guinney pig. I know this is alot of trial and error. Just very worried!!!! ## Intuiv is basicly Tenex, a blood pressure med. It's been on the market for many yrs. My daughter takes it for Tourette's Syndrome and hypertension. We've never had any problems with it and she has multi-disabilities. My 9 yr old son has been diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive, Anxiety and ADHD. we tried Adderall and while that worked for a while we had to stop because of side effects. He now takes Seroquel and Zoloft. They are working great for the OCD and Anxiety. We tried concerta for the ADHD and he turned into the incredible hulk within an hour of taking it. Does anyone know if the Daytrana patch works the same with the same side effects as Concerta? ## Yes, it is the same active ingredient, so the side effects would be essentially the same, instead of taking a pill, Daytrana just gives you a time released patch.

If the Daytrana patch expired a month ago, can I still use it on my child while I wait for the new ones to arrive via mail? ## Hello, Joy! How are you? It doesn't get dangerous, once past the expiration, but it may not be as effective. However, there could withdrawal issues, if you're out, so it may be worth using, as long as your child's doctor okays it. Yes, the patches are ok. If anything, they may lose some potency but it won't harm you. Many times, expiration dates are set to facilitate new purchases. ## Hello Kevin, According to the manufactures website the patches lose potency and do not become dangerous as you said, however, while there is an obvious benefit for them to have you purchase new patches that isn't the reason that they put the expiration date on the patch. Expiration dates on medicines are a requirement from the FDA even when there is no danger present from the expiration. All medicines, prescription or over the counter, should have an expiration date or best used by date. I have 15 mg Daytrana patches that expired July 2015. Are they still safe to use? My reason for this, Daytrana is in shortage supply wise throughout the US due to a recall in 2014. Recently I tried acquiring the 20mg patches and was told by my pharmacy they may get them by end of 2015. However, Dr gave me script for 10mg that I will get on this Monday to use two together to make 20mg. How long does the daytrana transdermal patch 20 mg stay in your system for a urine test? ## I would say it is in the system at least a few days after the patch is removed because that is approximately how long it takes the active ingredient Methylphenidate to be metabolized (a little less, actually), but I am also factoring in that the transdermal patch is a slower release mechanism for the drug. I am estimating this based on this site's half life calculator and entering Methylphenidate 20 mg, with a listed half life of 3.5 hours. I hope this helps and let me know how it goes!
