I found out that I was allergic to this when my dentist put desensitizer on my teeth...my lips swelled like a duck! I am also a scrub nurse and been having trouble with the CHG scrub and the cavacide.... I am slowly finding answers...also I have never been given the TDaP shot until 2 days ago and my lips swelled again like a duck... Any chance you could help me with a relation between this drug and any others? ## You would actually be better served to see an allergist/immunologist, so you can be tested for specific allergens, and discover what to avoid. Loved Hypotears and used for years. I recently found out that it contains BAK (Benzalkonium chloride) as a preservative which has shown to cause cellular deterioration of parts of the eye. I am pretty sure that this is the reason it was discontinued. It is very upsetting to know that BAK was never listed as an ingredient. ## Hello Russell, I'm not positive that is the reason that this particular brand of carboxymethylcellulose sodium has been discontinued as there are others that also contain benzalkonium chloride that are still available on the market. There has been a lot of speculation as to why the brand has been discontinued as the reason was never officially released. Some speculate that the preservatives were too harsh while others believe that the cost to manufacture had gon...

The most amazing medicine I've ever used for canker sores is called Debacterol. It is a black liquid that seals the sore and speeds the healing. It stops the pain immediately, and you can get it at focusedrx. You need a prescription but they'll fax your doctor for you and you'll never have pain again! ## Hi, Elizabeth! What a great thing for you to post and share with others! Another product that was approved by the FDA to help treat them and shorten their duration, but never marketed for it is Benzalkonium Chloride, aka Bactine! The Bactine also contains other ingredients, so you have to be careful to only apply it topically and not swallow it or anything, however. It is also available in other formulations that can also be purchased over the counter. Does anyone else have ...

Are there other eye drops that use the same ingredients that Visine LR does? ## I just listed this in another post, the active ingredient Oxymetazoline can also be found in Claritin Allergy Relief Eye Drops and in Ocuclear. Do you have any other questions? ## Claritin ophthalmic solution contains as the active ingredient ketotifen ## I noticed that there are other allergy products on the market which contain the same key ingredient as Visine LR called Oxymetazoline. The only thing is that they come as a nasal spray and the proportion of Oxymetazoline is a higher dose. Here is an example: Visine LR contained Oxymetazoline HCl 0.025% as the active ingredient along with Benzalkonium Chloride, Boric Acid, Edetate Disodium, Purified Water, Sodium Borate, and Sodium Chloride as the inactive i...

I got a positive reaction to Benzo class of drugs in Court and risk possibly losing my kids!! I have not taken any of those type pills like Valium or Xanax. Could it be the Benzalkonium Chloride in Nasonex causing this. I dont know what to do ## Your best bet is to tell then everything you were taking, even if it was over the counter. Some drugs do cause a false positive reaction and that way they will be able to figure out what it was, then stop taking EVERYTHING for a period of time and offer to retake the test. ## I had the same thing happen to me. I'm in a group home and I have been sober from everything for 12 months. I took a AU test and was positive for benzos. I am using Nasonex and before i was, all of my UA's have been clean.
