NOW, HOWEVER, I AM IN DESPERATE NEED FOR IT AGAIN BUT I LIVE IN WISCONSIN AND MY LUPUS DR. HASN'T EVEN HEARD OF IT. I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. HE LOOKED ON THE COMPUTER AND SAID IT NO LONGER IS AVAILABLE, AND THAT DEVISTATES ME BECAUSE I AM SO ILL RIGHT NOW I ONLY WEIGH 94 LBS. ON A GOOD DAY. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? I CAN'T FIND A PHARMACY TO FILL A RX FOR ATABRINE. IS IT NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE? IT WAS SO EFFECTIVE BEFORE WHEN I HAD A LUPUS FLARE. ## Atabrine contains the active ingredient Quinacrine and has several different medical uses, including systemic Lupus. Where are you located? Is this a recent prescription? As far as I can tell, it is listed as still being available in the U.S. There's more informaton on it here: If it's not commonly used, some pharmacies may not carry it routinely and may have to order it in. Have they said it was discontinued or that they just don't carry it? ## You can get atabrine (quinacrine) at a compounding Pharmacy. I get it from Panorama Compounding Pharmacy in Lake Balboa, CA ## Yes, all I can find is Panorama Pharmacy and that's where I'...

I AM HAVING A LUPUS FLARE. I AM SO FATIGUED I CAN'T DO ANYTHING, THE NAUSEA IS SO BAD, I CAN'T EAT. I'M DOWN TO 90 LBS (FOR MY HEIGHT, I SHOULD WEIGH 120 LBS). MY DR. PUT ME ON PLAQUENIL, EVEN THOUGH I WAS ADAMANT THAT I WANTED TO TAKE ATABRINE BECAUSE IT WORKED SO WELL FOR ME THE LAST TIME I HAD A FLARE. HE AT FIRST SAID THAT HE HAD NEVER EVEN HEARD OF IT BEFORE. I WAS STUNNED. I WAS EVEN MORE STUNNED WHEN MY DOCTOR, (YES, IN CASE YOU ARE WONDERING, HE IS A RHEUMATOLOGIST) NEVER EVEN TRIED TO GET IT FOR ME. HE SAID ITS NOT AVAILABLE. I KNOW THAT THAT IS NOT TRUE, I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET IT. ANYWAY, THE PLAQUENIL IS NOT WORKING, AND I AM GETTING WORSE. I CALLED LAST WEEK AND TALKED TO HIS NURSE, AND TOLD HER ABOUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. SHE CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT ...

What is an oblong yellow pill with WA and 8 on the left half? I have teenagers -- enough said. ## THIS IS NOT VICODIN NOR ANY TYPE OR NARCOTIC! I cannot say what your teens may think it is, but this tablet contains 100mgs of Quinacrine, a generic for Atabrine, this is an antimalarial drug.
