Alogliptin (trade name Nesina and Vipidia[1][2]) is an oral anti-diabetic drug in the DPP-4 inhibitor (gliptin) class.[3] Alogliptin does not decrease the risk of heart attack and stroke. Like other members of the gliptin class, it causes little or no weight gain, exhibits relatively little risk of hypoglycemia, and has relatively modest glucose-lowering activity. Is it safe to take Nesina with Glimepirde, pioglitazone,and metformin? ## As long as your doctor has prescribed them all to be taken together. It is sometimes necessary for someone to take multiple oral diabetes medications to get their blood sugar under control. The FDA lists the typical side effects of Nesina as possibly including anxiety, nausea, dizziness, blurred vision, hypoglycemia and headache.
