Ferrous Fumarate Overview

Iron(II) fumarate, also known as ferrous fumarate, is the iron(II) salt of fumaric acid, occurring as a reddish-orange powder, used to supplement iron intake. It has the chemical formula C4H2FeO4. Pure ferrous fumarate has an iron content of 32.87%, therefore one tablet of 300mg iron fumarate will contain 98.6mg of iron (548% Daily Value based on 18mg RDI). I've been prescribed Se-Tan PLUS after having surgery for colon cancer. This is in capsule form. Upon renewal, "Ferrous Fumarate" 324 mg. tablets were substituted. Is there equivalency between these two prescriptions? Thanks ## They are both the same, the new one you've received is just a generic for Se-Tan. This is an iron supplement used to treat, or prevent anemia. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, funny taste, constipation, and dark stool. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am first timer taking oral birth contraceptives like trust pills and i am started to took it 2 weeks after my menstruation period. And now my period does not come on it's exact date on this month but i have 10 more tablets including 7 ferrous fumarate.My question is when my menstruation period occur? ## You should experience your period the last week of pills, when taking the ferrous fumarate ones. The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, and PMS-like symptoms. Did you have intercourse during the first week?
