Very large white antibiotic..I am on 875mg ## Basically, amoxicillin mixed with clav-something acid which just enhances the effect of amoxicillan, an antibiotic. Used for chest/skin/ear/throat infections.. ## Was given for severe swollen, kissing tonsils, with an absys on one, closed airway, swollen lymph nodes in neck, and accompanied by four day fever. two days on it and so far, feeling a bit better. ## The other ingredient is Clavulanic Acid, this is a generic for Augmentin. The Clavulanic Acid helps to prevent the growth of bacteria, while the Amoxicillin fights the infection that is already there. ## I have the flu or common cold....I have abottle cephalexin 500mg. The expiration date is 1/14/05. Will they be effective? ## Im on the 500mg and boy do they do some damage to you. they...

Infected Cartlidge Piercing

My cartlidge piercing is infected. It's red, hurts and also gets yellow puss. The skin is starting to cover the piercing but not that bad. Would Amox-Clav 875mg help the infection? ## Yes, it should help, if you take it as prescribed. My doctor prescribe it for me when I had my naval piercing done, since I am a heart patient and she wanted to make sure it didn't become infected. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Are you being careful to care for it as instructed? How new is the piercing? ## It was prescribed for me because of something else but I didn't need the rest of them so I had left over ones. I got the piercing about 6 months ago. I've been cleaning it with sea salt warm ...

Bee sting in leg

The stinger was in my leg for 5 days. Finally when to urgent care and was prescribed Amoxicillin Clavulanate 875mg for pain, swelling and itching. Will this help if the stinger has poison? ## This is an antibiotic that is used to treat or prevent infections, it will not alleviate pain, or swelling, unless both are caused by an infection and it would take several days to help. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?

I have the 875 mg tablet, it's so large and I see it's scored in half. Is it safe for me to snap it in half and take one half at a time, as long as I am taking entire tablet? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? I'm sorry about the infection. Yes, you can cut or break them in half to make it easier to swallow them, as long as you take the whole tablet. Unless your doctor specifies some reason you shouldn't do so.
