I have been on for Pradaxa for just under a month. I had gained about 12 pounds from not being able to walk due to new A Fib.

Now with Pradaxa, i'm able to walk a mile plus per day. I have been walking again for over 2 weeks.

I have lost the 12 pounds and a couple of more.

Instead of a loss of appetite, I have a curbing of my appetite,

I am approaching my 20 year old weight.

That is awesome, many report the opposite when taking this class of medications, so the FDA lists the common side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, increased risk of bleeding, and easy bruising. (NDC 0597-0149 for more details.)

Has anyone else experienced weight loss while taking this medication?

Still at the same weight loss/12 pounds

I take the med with 8 ounces of water just before I have breakfast or dinner. I have no stomach/GI problems. I just eat a little less and basically minimal snacking between meals. That is satisfied with a handful of plain almonds and walnuts a couple of times a day.

Our diet is the same as the last few years. A modified Mediterranean diet with real protein, good veggies and fruit and minimal if any carbs.

I know that any weight gain I have had in the last few years has been linked to less or no walking or doing small tasks in and outside the house. I am back to my daily walks and doing about a half hour tasks outside our home.

It is now 6:45 am, and I have been up an hour with no hunger urges. The last med was taken about 12 hours ago with our dinner as described above.
