Water Retention
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I am 37 years old and have gained an excessive amount of weight in the last couple years and it's getting worse every month. It's mostly around my belly but I've noticed in my legs that I have a lot of water. My fingers also seem to tingle a lot too.

Hi. I have just ordered some water (diuretic) pills as my thighs and knees swell to the point where it looks like I've got loads of water in me. How long will it take to reduce swelling? I'm a size 10 but it feels like I'm an elephant. Can anyone help?

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to ween off xarelta. I'm gaining 2 lbs a week and after 2 months with taking xarelta, I have gained 16 lbs. Cut back on my foods and still gaining weight!

I do understand what you're saying, but I'd like to put this in perspective for you…

I developed high blood pressure about 5 years ago, but due to not having insurance and the expense, I shunned going to a doctor…

Then about 4 years ago, I developed fluid retention and finally suffered full congestive heart failure. After a week in the hospital to treat that and bring my blood pressure down to safer levels, the bill was 999,999.00 and no, I am not kidding.

It would have been much, much cheaper, had I spent the money on a doctor's fee and prescription.

How are you feeling?

No, No medications. And also No insurance. Going to the Dr can be very expensive. Probably the biggest reason I haven't made an appointment

Hello, Daylyn! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.

And I urge you to see your doctor, as soon as possible. What many people aren't aware of is that such extreme fluid retention can put you at risk of congestive heart failure and it may cause high blood pressure. Both of which require treatment for your own safety.

Are you on any medications that might be causing it?
