This is a brand name for Cefazolin, a cephalosporin class antibiotic.

My mother was prescribed this medication for a sinus infection. Although the directions say to take with OR without food, my advice is to take with food because this medication can be rough on the gastrointestinal(G.I.) tract, as evidenced by a side effect of diarrhea. May also dry you out, so drink a good amount of water, which is a good idea anyway, especially when your body is fighting off an infection.

Most antibiotics will cause diarrhea when they start to take effect in your body, that is a perfectly normal effect. As to taking it with food, the reason they tell you not to is because certain food can affect how well the medication works for you and how much of it your body absorbs, so before changing the iinstructions of how to take it, you should always take to your doctor or pharmacist first.
