Omnacortil 20 Mg Adverse Side Effect

my wife is suffering from an un-healing wound on her left thigh and the treating Doctor has administered Omnocortil 20 mg as detailed below.

2 -0 - 1/2 x 2 weeks i.e 50 mg per day
2 - 0 - 0 x 1 week i.e 40 mg per day
1 1/2 - 0 - 0 x 10 days i.e 30 mg per day

After taking Omnocortil as detailed above she has been now diagnoised with Depression, Bilateral Pneumonia and Septicemia.
Why this has happened?
What is to be done now?
Was this due to wrong medication/dosage?
Can anybody reply immediately ?. Matter urgent.

Hello, Shama! How is your wife doing?

This medication is a steroid, so when someone is on it, it can lower their immunity, which could make it easier for them to catch infections, so that might be what happened.

That's not to say that it was the wrong medication for the doctor to prescribe, it's just a risk that can occur due to taking it.

She is on oxygen support now in the ICU of a reputed hospital.

The Doctor has not intimated us about the risk factor involved in the treatment with Omnocortil 20 mg. Neither he had any remedial treatment to contain the side effect of the medicine. He simply got her admitted in the Hospital and washed off his hands stating that he would revert to the treatment of the wound in thigh once my wife recovers from her present ailments and gets discharged from the hospital. My wife had Sugar, BP and Thyroid problems also, which we had informed the Doctor before he started his treatment. So far, I have spent about Rs.2 lakhs on her treatment for Bilateral Pneumonia and Septicemia. We went to the Doctor for treatment of a wound and now we are facing a bigger problem because of the negligent treatment of the Doctor.
