I am taking Metroprolol (minax 50) half a tablet twice a day and have been on them since having a stent in July 13. For the last few months I have been getting up every two hours to urinate through the night...Is this a side effect please? I am also on Clopidogrel 75, Alorvastating 80mg and 100 mg Aspirin a day.

Hello, Suzanne! How are you?

The Metoprolol can cause more frequent urination, but it's usually not that extreme.

I'm kind of prone to think that it's more likely due to the Atorvastatin, it has caused that type of problem for many people that had to take it.

Have you contacted your doctor about it?

Thank you for your response! I have just got back from Doctor and he is testing for infection...he tends to think that I have irritable bladder however ruling out other causes before treating...I see that lipator can cause UTI so perhaps its as simple as that..

I have been taking metoprolol for over 6 years now and my dr recently upped my dosage from 25 to 25 and a half of pill today. I also take benicar hctz 40/25 for the same amount of time. I did just drink 3 glasses of water but anyways I keep having to pee like every 10-15 mins and it's like regular pee not just the urge with barely any. I can sit on toilet for a while and then a little comes out here and there. I am sick with a bad cold and have been coughing a lot. Idk if that has something to do with it. I was told at hospital a while back I had a kidney stone that hadn't moved. But I don't get no pain or anything just the need to go pee a lot and it just started an HR or so ago. Idk if I'm thinking too much about it or if it's just where I took in a lot of water. There is no burning. Pain. Or blood.

A patient is instructed to discontinue diuretics in preparation for surgery. I know that HCTZ is a diuretic but am not sure whether Metoprolol or Simvastatin are also. Does Metoprolol or Simvastatin act as a diuretic?

I just want to know if metoprolol ER has a diuretic in it? I have been taking metoprolol and my feet are swelling. Should I change to metoprolol HCT?
