I have been taking Tranzene for about 25 years now. I use to take it , 7.5 mg, every four hours as needed. But, when I didn't take it for a few days I'd get panic Attacks. So now, my Dr. told me to take 2 pills everynight 15 mg total , to help me sleep, and since I do everynight, I no longer get Panic attacks. Is this a real high dose? Am I ok taking this? Can I stop taking it after being on it so long?

i'm 17. i went to a one year exchange program abroad and got back for a few months, so i got reverse culture shock and as always i got a problem with my mother, so it's quite difficult for me to adjust myself. so my family decided to go to the family therapy and after our first time. my doctor gave me TRANXENE (DIPOT.CLORAZEPATE) 5 mg. for me to take one pill each day after dinner. i never expect a doctor to give me a medicine. does it have any consequence? should i take it?
cause i really don't think that is the way to solve my problem.

Verwon Says:

Don J, it is available in a 15mg dosagem which does work well for some people. It is a benzodiazepine derivative that is commonly used to treat anxiety, nervous disorders, and insomnia.

The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, and irritability.

Nichamon, I understand your concerns, but the only way to see if it will work for you is by trying it. Did you ever do so? Are you on any other medications?
