Duramax, PE 626 it says prescribed for a sinus infection with an antiotic. Does this mean along with a prescription for an antiobiotic? or is there antiobiotic in Duramax? I can't find Duramax information in any search engine and I'm waiting for my duramax prescription to be filled.

Sorry, there is nothing listed in any of the databases I checked under that name or with that marking PE 626.

I checked the FDA site and the only item under the trade name Duramax that they list in the US is a cardiac stent, not a pill.

There is, however, a tablet marked with PE 616 that is called Duradex. So it might be possible you misunderstood the doctor's writing, or the pill markings were a little screwed up, as sometimes happens with old equipment.

Duradex is a cold and flu med, contained Dextromethorphan and Guaifenesin, which are both for cough and decongestant.

Here's the monograph for more information:

I too was given DuraMAX for a sinus infection some time ago. I started getting symptoms again so I thought I would start taking it. I can't find any information online regarding this drug, but I was given samples from my doc and it clearly says Duramax.

Very odd, I can't find anything listed under this name, like I said, I even did a search on the FDA site, very sorry.

My 9 year old daughter was also given samples of Duramax by her Pediatrician. One to always research what I give my children I thought it very odd that I could not find any information about this pill on any search engine. Should I give this to her? She has a sinus infection and was also given a antibotic- what is the Duramax really for?

Actually the first night when I went to pick up the prescription for Duramax they didn't have it in the drugstore, nor any affiliated stores in the area. Apparently its brand new and too new to have any info on the internet? Anyway, the pharmacist told me to take MucinexDM along with another over the counter med - that it was just about the same as Duramax. It worked well enough and they had to special order the Duramax for me. I still don't understand why we can't find it in any search engines.

It must be very, very new. I use several databases, just for prescription meds, but it is not in any of them, either.

What exactly is it suppose to do? I dont think I am going to give it to her until I find out what exactly what I am dealing with.

Well the above ingredients that someone posted from their package are all remedies to help with couch, cold, and congestion.

And yes, you do want to keep them drinking while they are taking those drugs, because they can be very drying.

I am still unable to find a monograph or further information on this, I have a doc's appointment this week, so I will see if my doc's office has any information on it, so I can provide you all with more details on it.

I did finally discover some information on this, the reason it was hard to find is because it is just one of hundreds of brand names for medications that all contain the same ingredients and it is available in both a prescription form and an over the counter version.

Here's a page with information on the medication that requires a prescription:

I found a pharmacist who had this listed in their database, it turns out that ALL formulations of this are over the counter, no prescription needed, which is why we were unable to find it in the databases. The information that the person above provided from their sample package is correct in the ingredient listings.

I couln't find anything on the drug, but the name the doctor gave me for it was Rynese. I took it for 10 days, twice a day. It stop my nose from the constant running and inflammation. It worked wonders for me and noooo side affects. I just called for a refill. My pharmacist says that it's new, but a lot like the Benedryl, but better.

Felecia Said that Duramax is a lot like Benadry, only better. It is nothing like Benadryl. Benadryl is an antihistamine. Duramax is a timed release formula of Guaifenisen (Robitussin) Dextromethorphan, a cough suppressant, and Phenly... sp which is a decongestant. Another med that has the ingredients all in one is Tussi-Pres Dextromethorphan + Guaifenesin + Phenylephrine .
You may have to take the OTC more often, if not time released formula, but if your RX provider charges forty for Brand names, check out the others because it MAY be less expensive otc. AND let your MD know.

I experienced dizziness and diarrhea, presumably as side effects of DURAMAX, since all I had was a sore throat.

My Dr gave me several samples of Duramax. I had a severe sinus infection like I had never had before...all of my upper teeth were aching from the pressure. About 2 hours after taking the first pill the pressure and pain had subsided greatly. By the time I took the second pill 12 hours later I had no pain at all. It worked very well for me. I'm on my 4th pill with no side effects.

My husband was prescribed Duramax for an earache, but none of the pharmacies around town had it in their backstock.

Is there something else more common (and less expensive) to ask for instead?

I was prescribed Duramax today for my sinuses. My pills have PE 626 on them. I have just started taking them today. I can't find any info on them either.

I just read all the responses and it is funny that mostly everyone is talking about sinus infections. I was prescribed Duramax after having two root canals because I had nerve damage to my front teeth...Whaaat????
