im 16 and have been taking this medicine (citalopram) for almost a week. already i've been having mood swings that go from angry to depressed to happy to completly mental. will this pass?

Hi Steph,
I want to encourage you to seek out and learn about alternative and complimentary approaches to your depression. You are still young and your brain is still developing and the medical community is still not quite sure how these drugs impact a developing brain. If you are having negative side effects, then your body is telling you that it is not OK with the drug. Have you considered or are you in therapy? Depression is way for our body to tell us something needs to be addressed in our life. Perhaps that can be a good start. I'm all for meds but am a stronger advocate for tryig out all other less invasive means first and if they don't work, then we turn to drugs.

I think this medicine has worked wonders for me. My son died and i dont think that I could of survived with out it.
