Xanor 0.5 Mg Sr

Updated

I have been using xanor sr 0.5mg and I feel as if its not helping so well im having severe anxiety and panic attacks although ive learnt to deal with them since ive been dealing with GAD for a couple of years now it still is a terrible feeling and i isolate myself.. ativan works for me but i am scared that it will lower my intelligence as ive been told it does and im in college. I also heard it is extremely addictive and dangerous. Does anyone have some advice for me as to what medication i could take to get my life back? I'm really struggling with anxiety...

Hello, Savannah! How are you?

Both of these medications are benzodiazepines that carry the risk of being habit forming and the risk of causing the same side effects, which the U.S. FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability.

It's really a matter of discovering which one works better for you and only taking it as prescribed by your doctor.

And no, neither are known to decrease intelligence. They can sometimes cause you to feel a bit spaced out and dizzy, but such side effects are not permanent.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi,

About a year ago I developed severe anxiety disorder, virtually over night. It was so bad I landed in hospital followed by a huge series of tests. All showed me to be in the clear of any heart or artery problems or deseases. Although a slight problem in my heart rythm was detected with an ECG. I've since been prescribed xanor 0.5mg SR daily and ativan if it gets really bad. My problem is this, I've been having chest pains (wich I told is normal) rather high up on my chest. I've also had heart palpitions, sometimes 3 times a day, other times not at all for periods of up to 3 weeks. When trying to sleep I sometimes feel it is almost hard to breathe, although it's not that I cannot a a breath, it sounds weird, but I'm sure you know what I mean? I sometimes wake up gasping for air, even though I can easily breathe. I also find myself to have become very forgetfull, and some days I'm very drowsy and almost feel like I'm about to faint. I avoid ativan as much as I can, I'll only take it if REALLY nessecary. I've had about a 2 week period when I really felt like my old self again, followed by a week that was really bad. Is all of this really normal on that dose of Xanor? BTW I'm a 31 year old male, I don't drink, I quit smoking, I'll have 1 cup of coffy in the morning, and decaf the rest of the day. All in an attempt to avoid any stimulants that could cause a panic attack. I'd do anything to just get my life back. All of this at once in such a short period was a lot to process, a year later I still find myself waking up thinking I'm about to die.
