A friend is getting read to start a new job. The company does mouth swab test. He smokes mary daily, however, not so much recently, but is also prescribed xanax. will they take note of prescribed meds and take that into consideration with results of mouth swab? or make him take a urine or blood test? will his xanax cause a false positive for anything else? the fact that he has smoked daily for years, will a week without smoking be sufficient to pass the swab test?

Saliva drug tests are able to detect a number of different drugs. However, they are able to most effectively test for opiates and methamphetamines. THC and cannabinoids use may go undetected with a saliva drug tests. They are not perceived as particularly reliable for the detection of either of these drugs.
Saliva drug tests can detect alcohol use, drugs, therapeutic drugs, metabolites, amphetamines, opioids, cocaine, heroin and methadone. It is also used to test for cannabis but as mentioned before, the detection of THC is unreliable using this type of test.

This is the most ridiculous forum I have read involving saliva drug testing. Reading information stating that saliva drug tests can detect 1-10 days.
Ludacris. Do your research. The average/normal 5-panel drug test, used by most companies had a detection time of a max 72 hours. Cannabis/THC has a max detection time of 12 hours. People need to stop giving people false information

Of all the most commonly used drugs today, I found that the saliva test can go as far back as 10 days. Most drugs are anywhere between 1-5 days but there are others that are 1-10 days or 3-4 days, all depending on the drug of coarse.
In general, if you give yourself over 10 days you should have nothing to worry about in the event of a saliva test.

Benzodiazepines can be detected in your saliva for up to 1-10 days after your last dose. It's kind of a broad time-frame, but from what I can gather, you're pretty much in the clear after a week has passed.
