I have been prescribed Wellbutrin XL 150mg/day for depression in addition to Lexapro (that I have been on for over 15 years 20mg). I feel kind of out of it, and I don't like it. I have been taking this for 6 days. Had a horrible headache the fist couple of days, but that seems to be subsiding. I have a bad taste in my mouth, but am starving. Will the "medicine head" like feeling go away soon? Or is this what I am supposed to be feeling? My mood is a lot calmer, brighter, however I feel lazy, and hard to wake up in the morning. ## Hello, Twinkies2013! How are you feeling? Yes, that is fairly typical when you first start such a medication. Things usually improve after about 4 to 6 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. The FDA lists its typical side effects as poss...

When you first started taking Wellbutrin how soon did you know it was working? ## I was prescribed recently wellbutrin xl 150. After 2 weeks and good effects such as waking up easy and alert, feeling"lifted" my psych. chose to up the dose to 300. I have been on this for 1 week my side effects arent as good example- drowsy and harder to wake up- not having that same lift as with 150. How long should I wait before I request changing back to 150? ## It can take 4 to 6 weeks for these types of medications to reach their full effectiveness in the body, you'll usually notice because it is around the same time that the side effects will hit their peak and start to taper off. If they don't, or if they get more severe, that is when you should consult your doctor about the problem...

I was recently prescribed this by my Doc for 3 months this summer. I used it for only 2 and a day later it went away, I was no longer sad, or getting angry, It was like nothing brought me down I was happy and the best part I never got a "high" feeling from it this what I had requested from my doctor, it was like i was taking vitamins . so a month later my depression came back. Its but he same company but I was a little skeptic when I noticed it came in a different box but it both said it was done by gsk. I now experience drowsiness right after I take the one I am on now for a little while (I never did before, ad i hate this) . I did my research and found out that its now a different manufacturer. The one I was on first was from Biovail Corp in Canada (the one I liked because it ...

Day 10. 150 mg. Have some more energy, sleep less. Maybe a little more positive outlook, but still waiting for it to kick in. My bigger question is..whats with the prices of up to 400 dollars A MONTH?! What the hell?? The original name brand here in the EU is 10 euros for a monthly supply. In Estonia atleast. The price you guys pay is like something that you pay for cancer treatment. And our average wage is something around 20k USD per year..

I am finding that food is pretty disgusting but I can still eat, I just really don't want to... I started taking welbutrin 10 days ago and ever since then I haven't been able to eat. I didn't take it today to see what would happen and I'm still not hungry. I'm underweight as it is and REALLY scared. ## once again, i've been on Wellbutrin for about 2 years and yes, there are days when i just don't feel like eating. For me this is good as i have had problems in my teens with bulimia. i still try to eat three to five small meals a day because i know i need the nutrition. but i am not tempted to binge and purge because i rarely over eat. maybe you should consult with your doctor to find another medication that will work better for you. be sure to let him know all...

Hi All, I was taking 300 mg of the generic made by Watson. I didn't feel anything different for the first 2 week of being on it, but the third week I started to notice the effect of the medication and I felt great! It is the first antidepressant that has made a dramatic difference in my mood and energy levels. I was very excited until I started itching like crazy during my forth week on the medication. After calling my doctor, she said I should stop taking the medication. We've discussed trying the name brand, but I've called around and without insurance (my insurance does not cover name brands), the cheapest would be close to $400 a month, which is way out of my budget. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Has anyone else had this issue? Would it be worth trying out a di...

I started taking Bupropion XL in the summer and about 2 months ago I stopped taking it. During the time I was taking Bupropion my period was always late and now that I have been off of the medication I haven't had my period and it has been 2 months. Is that a normal side affect of taking Bupropion XL, and will my period return to regular? (I am not taking anything else at this time and I did not pair Bupropion with anything, I am waiting to take my new medication until I can find an answer about my now nonexistent period). ## Yes, cycle irregularities have been known to happen in women that take antidepressants, including Bupropion and due to its effects on the body, it could take a few months for things to balance back out and for your cycle to return. Learn more Bupropion details ...

I was forced to order my Wellbutrin 300 mg Xl from Canada in January due to my insurance not covering the name brand (and I had a SEVERE reaction to the generic and cannot take it-massive hives and throat swollen shut), and I obviously couldn't afford the $400/month for the name brand so I went to an online Canadian pharmacy to get my meds. I was assured by them that it was the same stuff, but that it was shipped from Turkey. I was a little nervous but what could I do? Since switching, I can honestly say this has been one of the worst years of my life. I have been more depressed than ever, really wanting to go back to my eating disorder, no libido, no energy, suicidal thoughts, overly emotional, etc. Wellbutrin was the best antidepressant I had ever taken, and this stuff is NOT what...

I have been taking 300mg Wellbutrin/generic bupropion for just over 3 years now. After about a year of taking it I forgot the medication for a few days and those were such bad days. Because of that, even though I felt my depression had ended, I was too afraid to stop taking it. Over the past 3 or 4 months I have felt my depression return, even though I am still taking bupropion. I can't remember when I was switched to the generic bupropion, but it was probably within the first year. Could this have something to do with the return of my depression? Has anyone else had problems with the generic not working? or with it not working when taken over long periods of time? Maybe an increase in the dosage will help? or a switch back to Wellbutrin? or a new medication altogether? Any thoughts...

Is anyone having trouble with the new generic for Wellbutrin? It doesn't seem to be working as well. I hesitate to go back to the original Rx since it is so expensive. HELP. ## i just took generic and don't know it that's the reason I have been feeling more energy and some wakefullness at night. ## There are many people who have been having a problem with it, though the FDA says the differences are insignificant. In reality, generic medications DO NOT have to be exactly like their name brand counterparts. They are allowed to differ in the ACTIVE ingredient by plus or minus 20%. In addition, the ingredient used DOES NOT have to be the same, they only have to prove that it is 'biologically equivelent' and works in the body in the same manner as the name brand did. The ...

I have been on antidepressants for 4 yrs.Started with lexapro, then effexor, now wellbutrin-This medication has made me feel the most normal I have felt in a long time for the most part. I have been on it for 4 months. After the first month I all of the sudden packed my things and left my husband after 25 years and moved in with my sister. Two weeks later I moved back home.I have not had a regular period since I started this medication and feel I am going through menopause. I am 45 so its possible, but after reading uncommon side affects not so sure. I had an 18 day period in nov, none in Dec,and have the signs of one to start but not sure. I had severe depression hit again friday and last through today so far-feel crazy, lots of anxiety, no confidence in any abilities. Dr wants to supple...
