U/a - High Levels (Top voted first)

Updated

I have been taking Norco 10/325 for quite a long time. I take 3 pills a day and i guess there is supposed to be a certain level in your urine. Yesterday my Dr accused me of taking way to many and wanted to know where i was getting my pills at and i was shocked and told him "you prescribe these to me" and he more or less called me a liar saying i am taking way more than he gives me. I dont understand why the levels are so high. Is there anything that can cause this to happen? Please help.

According to NIH studies, this could happen due to dehydration, other medications you may be taking, and some dietary issues, or supplements.

Are you on any other medications? Do you make sure to drink plenty of liquids? Has anything else changed in your diet, or exercise routine recently?

How high was the level? Did he provide any specifics?

Is it prescribed to be taken on a strict 3 times a day regimen, or is it prescribed to be taken on an as needed basis?

3 times a day. And all i drink is soda. No water. I have just the past few days started drinking water. No dietary supplements. Diet Dr Pepper all day long. Almost 50 lbs over weight. Taking another med called baclofen and was taking gabapentin. He didnt tell me what the levels were, he only said that my levels were way to high and wanted to know where i was getting my hydrocodone from. I was in shock and told him that he prescribes them to me and he said i had to be getting some from someone else and more or less calked me a liar. Now i have been bothered by that every since.

It is most likely some other medication you're taking or a certain food in your diet (like otc antacids or grapefruit). Some foods and drugs will inhibit certain livers enzymes which may slow the rate at which you metabolize the hydrocodone. This will cause the drug to remain in your plasma longer and possibly build up to higher levels in your system.

The bacoflen, based on a quick search, appears it may be a drug that could cause the inhibition of the enzyme (CYP3A4) that metabolizes hydrocodone. Gabapentin is also noted, in some cases, as "potentiating" opioids through the same method.
