Tozaar 25

I am regularly taking the medicine Fenofibrate-145 mg
for abnormal Lipids for the past 15 years
Amitripile (Ami-25 mg) Alprazolam-1mg ( 15 years)
Calcicard-20 mg for BP and added Tozaar-25.
My BP level maintains 180/80 mm hg and my age is 59.
Please advice and your opinion shall i continue?

Well, with blood pressure that high, you have to do something to try and bring it down, the 180 is dangerous territory and can create the risk of a heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure.

The Calcicard contains the active ingredient Diltiazem, which is a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions.

It may cause side effects, such as: nausea, dizziness, headache and stomach pain.

Tozaar contains the active ingredient Losartan, which is an ARB, mainly used to treat the same conditions and it can cause similar side effects.

How long have you been taking the Tozaar, now?

Using it with the Calcicard can help them both to lower your blood pressure more, but it will take around 4 to 6 weeks, before it reaches its full effectiveness in the body.

I had High BP on 28th Aug 2011 i.e., 190/120. Doctor priscribed me lozaar 25 and Metolar 50 twice a day. Is it OK. What are the side effects of these medicines? Thanks.

Alok, Lozaar contains the active ingredient Losartan and Metolar contains the active ingredient Metoprolol, both of them are commonly used to help treat high blood pressure.
