Terramycin

I have had a pink/red eye for 3 weeks now. My doctor prescribed erythromycin ophth ointment, tobramycin drops and it does not help. Should I try Terramycin? I am allergic to Bactrim which contains sulfate. Does Terramycin contain sulfate? ## Hello, Christy! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. How long have you been using the ointment and drops? They will take time to clear it up and won't work immediately. No, Terramycin is not a sulfa drug, but you shouldn't use it, unless your doctor approves as it may not be appropriate to treat the type of infection you have. Typical side effects to these topical products may include eye redness, irritation and skin rash. ## I have an inflamed red eyelid. May I use Terramycin ointment? If so, where can I find...

What is terramicina used for?

Can I use Terramicina 125mg to treat throat infection? And if I can, how often can I take each pill? I would really appreciate it if someone responded. ## Hello, Ray! How are you? This is an antibiotic, so it can treat various types of infections, however, since it's unavailable in the U.S., I haven't been able to find the dosing information. Additionally, you need to have the presence of an infection confirmed, because taking it if you don't have one creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## My 2-year-old daughter has a diaper rash...every time she walks she cries...I try diaper rash creams and it doesn't go away. Can I use...

what is terramicina used for the eyes

In the corner of my eyes is sore with redness ## @gonzo, Terramicina or "Terramycin" in english terms is an antibiotic marketed in several forms, including an ophthalmic ointment for treating eye infections specifically in animals such as horses, cattle, cats, dogs, etc... Every article of information I'm finding on the ophthalmic ointment points back to its veterinary applications, but nothing concerning human use. So with that said, I think it may be best to double check with your doctor before attempting to use it on yourself. Chances are that it might be just fine, but these days it's worth getting a professional opinion as well. Active Ingredient: Oxytetracycline Terramicina Origin: Mexico Indications: A broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of bact...

terramicina for eye infection

Where can I fill a prescription for terramicina in the l.a area? ## Hi Miguel, Just for your own information, Terramicina isn't available here in the US. Terramicina is actually a Mexican version of Terramycin (oxytetracycline hydrochloride). However, Terramycin is reportedly available with a doctor's prescription. So I don't know if you'd have to get a new prescription with an American drug name on it in order to have your Rx filled, but that may be a possibility and something to just keep in mind if you run into any issues. Nevertheless, it sounds to me like your best bet would be to contact a local pharmacy there in LA for more specific details regarding its availability. I hope this helps!

Terramycin - teeth staining

Has anyone found a cure/answer/method to correct severe yellow teeth staining from taking Terramycin as a young child? Dental bleaching hasn't really worked too well. I have been told this is because of the Terramycin affecting the colouring of the teeth from the inside rather than from the outside enamel. Can anyone help? I have put up with the staining for some 40 odd years now and would love to correct it. ## Hi, I have the same issue, was on terramycin for a long time as a young child. my teeth are still ugly. I now also have problems with teeth crumbling, or chipping off. Have you heard of this? can terramycin be used for ear infection

Can it be used in a dogs ear? As for redness, ## Hi nancy, Based on my research, Terramycin can be used for ear infections, in humans and dogs. Terramycin contains the active ingredient Oxytetracycline which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, active against a wide variety of bacteria. However, some strains of bacteria have developed resistance to this antibiotic, which has reduced its effectiveness for treating some types of infections. Side effects are mainly relating to the digestive system, and photosensitive allergic reactions common to the tetracycline antibiotics group. It can also damage calcium-rich organs, such as teeth and bones, although this is very rare. I would give your veterinarian a call if you're unsure of the dosage for your dog. You can learn more about this drug on...

terramicina stye

How long does terramicina take effect on a stye??? ## Hi mike, From what I've read, this medication can be used for eye infections. However, I do believe there is a separate US brand of Terramycin "eye ointment" that is specifically geared towards these types of infections. As to how long it works, Terramycin has an estimated half life of 6 to 8 hours; after which, it's effects can begin to dwindle. There are also a couple of other alternative treatment options for stye's that are thought to work just as well or better. One simple approach that is suggested, is to take a clean wash cloth and soak it in vinegar or water as hot as you can stand. Then press the wash cloth against the stye, holding it there until it cools. Some people recommend doing this several times d...

Terramicina on eyes

Can I put this cream on a 5 year old's eye area? And Is this cream used to treat eczema areas? ## My 6 year old daughter is presently experiencing an irritable eye that is running cold. I have terramycin ointment at hand, but it has expired since Nov. 2010. I cannot get to a drug store now. Can I use it ???? ## It isn't advisable to use any medication in or on the eye that hasn't been specially formulated for such use. The eye requires sterile substances, as it is very sensitive and easily susceptible to infection and/or damage. Products made for the eye can be used elsewhere, but products made to be used elsewhere should not be used for the eye. Learn more Oxytetracycline details here. Are there any other questions or comments?
