I've been on Sprintec 28 for about 6 months. My period isn't for another week and I've been spotting the past couple of days. I've never missed a pill or skipped a period. Is this normal? ## Yes, it is a hormonal based contraceptive, so it is always possible for it to cause such a side effect, even if it has never done so before. If you've been ill, or under a lot of stress recently, that can also contribute to the problem. Have you consulted your doctor about it? ## Well it stopped and the next periods were normal. I just went to the doctor 3 days ago for a check up and now there is spotting again. I have been under a lot of stress, maybe that's triggering it. Thank you for you're reply!

I am at the second week of my pack and I was about to take Sundays but I dropped it and I couldn't find it. I just took the next pill bc i think they are all the same. But what should I do to fix the whole always being one pill short problem? Should I purposely skip a day and use back up or just buy a new pack early every month? I hesitate to just skip a day bc this is my first pack ever of birth control and I don't want it to mess anything up. Thank you! ## I'm sorry, I didn't see your post sooner and I certainly hope you contacted your doctor or pharmacist to resolve the issue. For future reference of anyone in need of the information, you should always check with your doctor, but normally, if this happens to you and you have just missed one pill, then just move on and...

I had just started Tri Sprintec for my acne. I was previously on Ortho Tri cycle lo. Once I finished my period on previous birth control I visited the doctor days later. They prescribed me the Tri sprintec and began taking it on that Sunday. My boyfriend and I are sexually active. Technically I should have started my period last week. Is it normal that I'm three days late on my period? ## So, there was a few days break, between when you finished the one brand and started the next? If so, your doctor should have instructed you to take the new one for 7 days, before having unprotected sex. If you didn't take any contraceptives for a few days, and then you didn't start the new one while you were on your menstrual cycle, you may not have been protected against pregnancy and you ...

I have been on sprintec for almost three years and have been using condums for awhile, however i missed one days pill in week three.. I had sex and the condum broke, I went to take that days pill and realized that I missed the days before, I looked it up and read a column that said to take both pills and the next days pill take it as your normal route. I have been take Amocillin, its a antibotic pill but I checked to see if it would have affect with my birth control and it read no.. Can or am I going to get pregnant? ## The Amoxicillin certainly can cause oral contraceptives to be less effective, though it is a low percentage stated to be about 1% of the time. The issue, of course, is that you're coupling it with several other increased risks, such as missing a pill and a broken cond...

I had a daughter in oct 2011 and was on orthro evra, loved it but was too expensive. so my 3rd month my obgyn put me on sprintec and the 1st month I took it I started my period 3 days early, now that I'm on my second month I am 4 days late. Is this possible or should I take a prego test? I'm so nervous and it's driving me crazy. I have never missed a day :( ## If you haven't missed any, then the chances that you are pregnant are very slim, but you should consult your doctor or get a test done for your own piece of mind, if you're worried about it. And yes, such symptoms are normal when you are taking any new form of hormonal contraceptive and can last for the first 3 months. Are there any other questions or comments?

I have been on Sprintec for almost a year and sometimes I start my period early while im still on the blue pill so im wondering if next month I will start while im on the white pill ## Have you consulted your doctor? There is really no way for anyone to predict when you will start your menstrual cycle, but after being on it for so long, such irregularities should have stopped. You may need to try a different contraceptive.

I have been taking trial sprintec for over a yr and I want to be intimate with my boyfriend for the first time but I'm worried about the risk of getting pregnant. Are there a lot of pregnancy scares with this pill? Because I can't take any chances. Please answer. ## If you have been taking them daily, without missing any pills, as you should, then they have no higher of a failure rate than any other oral contraceptive on the market, which is less than 1%. ## I'm been taking sprintec for about a month now finished one pack and got my period only a day late but on schedule 1/25/12. Then i missed 3 pills back to back due to the pharmacy not having my prescription in stock now i'm on my period 2/9/12 like two weeks early. What's happening?

I have taken all of week one and have taken the first two(scense today is tuesday) of the second week of the first pack and I had unprotected sex on the 1-30-12 am I protected? ## Have you consulted your doctor? However, as a general rule, if you start birth control on the first day of your menstrual cycle, you are usually protected immediately and if you start it at any other time, you have to take it for 7 days, before you are protected.

I have taken all of week one and have taken the first two (since today is tuesday) of the second week of the first pack, and I had unprotected sex yesterday. Am I protected? ## You should check with your doctor to be certain. However, as a general rule, if you start birth control on the first day of your menstrual cycle, you are usually protected immediately and if you start it at any other time, you have to take it for 7 days, before you are protected. Did your doctor or pharmacy provide you with any instructions?

I Have Recently Started Taking The Sprintec 28 Day Pill And Its Been Almost Three Weeks Now And Still My Period Is This Normal? ## my period has been on for almost three weeks and its brown looking what is wrong with my body? i am really scared..... ## Have either one of you consulted your respective doctors? When you are new to taking hormonal contraceptives, it is normal to have this type of breakthrough bleeding for the first 3 months, while your body is adjusting the hormones in the medication. However, if you find it severely problematic and are worried, you should definitely consult your doctor, there are other contraceptive pills you can try that may be less problematic for you.

I just stopped taking sprintec 2 days ago (after taking it for 4 months) because I'm wanting to get pregnant, and I started my period today. I heard I had to wait til my first normal period, do I still have to wait for another period? Or is it safe? ## You should consult your doctor. As I said in response to your other post, it is sometimes best to wait a few months, to ensure that your body is regulating your hormones on its own, again, to help improve your chances of a health pregnancy. Have you spoken to your doctor, yet?

I used sprintec for 4 months to prevent getting cysts. I'd miss some days but I came back and took it the next day so I wasn't really taking them how I was supposed to I guess. I'm trying to get prego but I'm not sure how long I should wait. Especially now coz I started my period 2 days after I stopped taking it, what does that mean?? ## It would be normal to start your period within a few days of stopping oral contraceptives, it would work the same as the week you are taking the inactive pills in the pack. As to when you should try to get pregnant, you should consult your doctor. Sometimes, it is best to wait a few months, after stopping them, to make sure that your body has reregulated the hormones on its own. Are there any other questions or comments?

Ive been on tri sprintec for exactly two weeks now and im braking out... A lot. All over my cheast and my face. Ive tryed to clear it up but i cant and its getting worse. Will this change???? ## Did you contact your doctor? Has it cleared up, any? Since these are hormonal based contraceptives, they will sometimes cause breakouts, in some people, when your body is still getting used to them. It usually clears up, after about 3 months, once your body has adjusted to the medication.

I have been taking Sprintec for a while now, take my pills consistently and have never missed a day ever. I had sex on a Sunday, the first day of week 3 of the blue pills. That Tuesday I started bleeding (even though I was still on the blue pills). I bled for about 5 days straight. It was a light period -but was it a period at all (or breakthrough bleeding)? I am now on day 4 of the white pills, and even though I have cramps and feel like I'm going to start my period, I haven't yet. Should I expect a period this week? Why would I have a period while on the blue pills? A friend says I shouldn't bleed on the blue pills and that I should get a higher strength pill. Is this true? ## Since they are hormonal based contraceptives, it can be normal to experience these episodes of br...

ive Been on tri-sprintec for about two weeks i take it everyday.just not at the same time am i ready to have unprotected sex ? ## How far apart do you take them? For ideal protection, they should be taken at 24 hour intervals and the variations should be no more than a few hours. To have unprotected sex, they must be taken continuously for a period of 7 days. It's also important to note that they do not protect against STDS.

I started taking Tri-Sprintec in October for the first time. I took it on the second day my period started which was a Tuesday, my period stopped on Friday. I started having unprotected sex from Friday to the following Tuesday where I was still taking the blue pills, if I would miss one I would double up the following day. I stop taking the pack before the second set of pills even finished. I got my period again the last week of the month for my full five days. Now It's November and my period still hasn't come. I've been nauseous, throwing up, sore boobs, and head aches. I'm wondering if I could be pregnant? Are there any side effects from not completing a full 28 days of taking them. IDK please someone get back to me. Thank you ## my period started slowly on 3.11.11 and...

My Dr. prescribed Sprintec for me to regulate my increasingly late periods. I am just starting it now for the first time. The Dr. messed up and didn't call it in to my pharmacy so I missed the day 1 and Sunday start options. Now it's monday and I don't know how to start taking these pills. I am just now stopping my period cycle for this month although I still have spotting. I'm concerned about how to start taking this first dose. I do not want to get pregnant right now so I don't know if I should just take the one dose, or if I should take a double dose as if I missed the Sunday dose of the medicine. Could someone please respond to me today so I know what to do. I can't call my Dr. after hours and I don't trust pharmacists at chain stores. Thank you. ## The d...

i was on tri sprintec and june 27 i went to the drug store and she gave me these tri previfm pills but i started bleeding friday nite june 24 i had missed 2 pills now im still bleeding i just staretd taking the tri previfm pill june 27 cause it was a monday. my period was june 1. ## You are more than likely bleeding because you missed taking some of the pills. When you take them all, as you should, there is usually a week where you don't take any, or take a placebo pill with no active ingredients, that triggers your body to start your menstrual cycle. Therefore, by missing 2 tablets, you have done the same thing. You should, however, still continue to take them daily, as prescribed and make sure you don't miss any more of them, because that puts you at risk of pregnancy. Are the...

I just started taking Sprintec. I missed one week of pills. So I started taking the Sprintec pills the first week of the pack. Now I think Im gonna be behind on my period since I skipped a week of not taking any pills but didnt skip the first week of pills. How do I get back on track? ## You really don't need to worry about it, you can go back to your natural cycle, or allow the pills to adjust your cycle, there is no harm in it, either way. You can just continue taking the pills each day and go with that new cycle. Are there any other questions or comments?

So I just stated Sprintec this month. I had previously been on Ortho-cyc for bout a year and switched due to Sprintec being cheaper and wanted to try something else for my horrible cramps! My doctor recommended this also because I can have a period only once every 3 months!! I started the pack right on schedule and as soon as my last pill came for that pack, (got my period) iI figuref it was just my body being used to bleeding ike clockwork... I figured I would just continue to the next pack as instructed to skip my period, and it would just go away after a few days die to taking my next pack of pills. Sigh... Didn't work continued to take the pills and still continued to ride my menstrual wave out. Now today is Sunday, my period should have been done Friday. I'm still sort of b...
