Might be pregnant not sure

I had what I thought was a light period on Dec 31st till Jan 4. I called my doctor cause I was worried I might be pregnant. I have been on birth control for 2 years and in October this year I switched to tri sprintec after sprintec was giving me headaches. My doctor said I should not be pregnant since I take my pill everyday. I had intercourse with my boyfriend alot a week after my period the beginning of December but I took my pills. lately since the light period I have been feeling sick. For a week now I have had stomach aches and a back ache which I thought was from lifting a Christmas tree. Everyone says I shouldn't be pregnant even my doctor. I did take a lot of aspirin for my back. Like 3 325mg a couple times a day. Could I be pregnant if I'm in so much pain or what? ## He...

missed two pills sprinted and then took the wrong one

I forgot to take my friday and saturday of the week 2 pills and accidentally took my sunday pill of week 3 without realizing my mistake. What do I do now? ## Hello, Loren! How are you? If you're talking about the regular Sprintec, which has 3 rows of blue pills and one row of white, then it doesn't matter what day you take the blue ones, they are all the same. The issue is missing those ones, that increases your risk of pregnancy, if you're actively engaging in intercourse. If pregnancy is a concern, you should use a backup method of contraception, until after you've taken 7 full days of active tablets, again, without missing any. This hormonal OC may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, dizziness, PSM, bloating and irregular bleeding. Is there anything else I c...

Not sure when to start taking the pills

I started my period on Monday. Today is Thursday, day 4 of my cycle. Do I wait till Sunday to start taking the blue pills or do I start today? If I start today, do I take the blue or white pills? ## Hello, Billie! How are you? You can start at any time, but if it's past the 2nd day of your period, you will need to take them for a full week, before they will become effective in your body to prevent pregnancy. And you start at the beggining of the pack, with the blue active tablets. The white inactive tablets are intended for your period week. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hello good day! Iam taking daphne pills and I've started Tuesday. Is it okay or I have to take the first pill which is Sunday? I'm so worried. THANK YOU! :) :) ## i am just gonna start this new ...

Sprintec Skipping Period

I want to skip my period. Can I skip the white pills on sprintec and start a new pack? ## Yes, unless your doctor has told you not to do so, it is perfectly safe to do this, occasionally. Many women use oral contraceptives to skip having their menstrual cycle on special occasions, or other times when it would just be inconvenient. There are even some on the market now that allow you to only have 3 or 4 menstrual cycles a year. Are there any other questions or comments? ## I don't really think you should do that until talking to a doctor, just to be sure.... My doctor is having me skip the placebo pills for two months then taking it the third month so that I'll have a period every three months. You don't want to mess anything up, so talk to a doctor first. ## I have just star...

4th week of white pills

Tri-sprintec pack of birth control pills my daughter just started this month. She got to the 4th row of white pills and stopped taking the pills. I think she thinks they are sugar pills. What is in the 4th row, should she take the 7 days of white ones? She only missed 2. TX! ## Yes, they are essentially sugar pills. She should take them just as a reminder tho; she may remember this time, but over the months/years one could forget... ## That is correct, they are placebo pills that are meant to keep her in the habit of taking them. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irregular bleeding, mood changes, and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

length of periods when on sprintec?

My boyfriend is coming back from college and he is only going to be in town for the weekend. I started my white pills this past Sunday but want to be done with my period by Friday night or early Saturday. This is my first month taking it so I'm not sure how my body gonna work with it yet. My periods are usually a full 7 days. Do periods tend to be shorter when on sprintec? If not can I start my blue pills on Thursday or Friday to make my period end sooner? ## For the first few months on birth control, your menstrual cycle is actually usually longer than your normal cycle, because your body has to adjust to the hormones. Sometimes, it is even skipped altogether, which may happen if you are lucky. However, once you have started the inactive tablets and not taken the active ones for a ...

Withdrawal bleeding or implantation bleeding?

So I started sprinted about a year and a half ago after I had my son, and last Monday, decided to stop birth control to start trying for another baby. It was the first day of my second week of pills. Wednesday I was cramping all day, and Thursday morning I woke up with a little bit of blood on my panty liner. As the day progressed, I had to put pads on as it was too heavy for a liner, but not heavy enough for a period. It is a light pinkish color and some brown. Very mucus like. No clots. My breasts feel normal(they are normally tender on my period and my first months of pregnancy). I’ve been constipated all week. It is now Monday again, and still lightly bleeding. I shouldn’t start my period for another 2 Friday’s from now. I’ve been looking online and can...

MISSED SPRINTEC

I forget to start my sprintec pill on Sunday ,so I start it on Monday, is that okay? This is first time am using these pills. ## Hello, Sonia! How are you? You can start it any day, it doesn't have to be on a Sunday. If you start it the first or second day of your period, you will be immediately protected against pregnancy. However, if you start it at any point later in your cycle, you'll need to take it for a full 7 days, before it reaches its full level of effectiveness in your body, which means using a backup method of protection, until the 8th day. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight gain and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I started my period yesterday which was Tuesday ...

took wrong color sprintec pill

Hi, I always take my sprintec pill at 9:00 pm. I have been on the pill for a little over a year consistently. Last night I was very tired and wasn't paying attention when I took my pill, and I accidently took my Saturday White Pill instead of my Thursday Blue Pill for my 3rd week. I am wondering what pill am I supposed to take now. Thank you ## Hello, Sydney! How are you? Missing one of the white pills doesn't matter, because they don't contain active hormones, so you should just go ahead and take the active one and then continue as you normally would. If you take an active tablet late, or miss one, you increase your risk of pregnancy and may experience breakthrough bleeding. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Ok so all my pills are blue expect this week pills are wh...

sprintec bleeding when should i be concerned

I understand heavy bleeding is normal while my body is adjusting to the hormones, but at whst point should I be concerned, this my third day with extremely heavy bleeding 2 or 3 pad changes EVERY hour. My 6 th day total. I am on 5th day of inactive pills. This is my first time every takong an oral contraceptive. ## 2 to 3 pad changes an hour is not normal, and you should consult your doctor. The FDA lists the normal side effects as possibly including irregular bleeding, dizziness, headache, vaginal dryness, mood changes, and weight changes. NDC code: 0555-9016 How long have you been taking it, now? Are on any other medications? As to the pad changes, are they full when you change them? ## Thank you. I spoke to my GYN and she informed me that if my bleeding progressed to a pad an hour to...

Triprevifem - Painful Vaginal Dryness?

I have been on Sprintec until 11/2012 when I got pregnant. My daughter was born 9/2013 and I breastfed (on minipill) until 10/2014. I'm now on the first week of my second pack of Tri-previfem (subbed by pharmacy) and I am dying! I have severe vaginal dryness and itching. I am only 29 years old, so I'm not nearing menopause. I plan to make an ob/gyn appt after the holiday weekend, but was wondering if this is a common side affect of this drug or of it could be related to "my hormones changing" from breastfeeding. ## Hello, Kay! How are you? It could be due to either one, actually. That's usually a sign of lowered estrogen levels. You may need to switch to a different one, for now or add something else to supplement your estrogen. Side effects may include nausea, dizzi...

Missing your period the first month of sprintec???

This is my first month being on sprintec, or any other birth control and i started my fourth white pill this morning and I still haven't had my period. I was prescribed the Sunday start plan but I was confused on how it worked so I ended up not starting the pills until a week and a day after my period. I started having cramps and normal period symptoms about a week and a half ago ( around my normal period arrive date) but no bleeding or spotting or anything. Is it normal to not have a period your first month of sprintec if you start it a week after you're suppose to??? ## Hello, Jenny! How are you? I am sorry about the confusion. Did you engage in intercourse during the first week of taking it, without using additional protection? If so, there may be a chance that you're pre...

Continuous Bleeding?

I started taking Sprintec on December 26th and I have been bleeding since. It's very frustrating because pads are not cheap (at least the good ones) and I am using box after box. It's not heavy bleeding- but it is constant. My fiance and I haven't been able to have any type of intercourse. My bleeding is the heaviest right after I take my pill and I experience painful cramps. I want to stop taking this medication and last night and tonight I did not take my pill....will this stop the bleeding if I cease my use of Sprintec? I'm also kind of a "herbal" woman. I truly do not believe in medication. So could my body be rejecting it due to not having any type of pill in my system for years? Thank you ## Hello, Mele! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem tha...

Late Periods 4, 5, 6 days late

Ive been on sprintec for many months now and when it comes time to take the white pills, I dont usually get my period until the 4th, 5th, or 6th day. Not sure why this happens. I have to pretend to have my period so my mom doesn't think I'm pregnant. I have been engaging in intercourse, but we use a backup method of protection every time. I also rarely miss any pills, and if I do, I make sure to take them right away, or to take two at a time, etc etc. I follow the directions. I just don't know why my period is always so late. I'm a sunday starter, and today is thursday and still no bleeding. The last time I had intercourse was 12/20, and today is 1/2. This happened with last month's period as well. It came pretty late. Thanks in advance for any tips. ## Hello, Lola! ...

just started sprintec bc

I started sprintec 3 weeks ago. Started taking the first blue pill the day my period started. I am now on the 2nd white pill and i am spotting just alil bit and at first it was a brown color. I shouldn't have my period til about the 9th or so, is it common to have an early period when just starting 3 weeks ago? Do i continue the white pills til i start my new pack? Is this normal? ## These are hormonal based contraceptives, so they will alter your natural cycle and you will get your period, from now on, during the week of the white tablets. They are placebo tablets that contain no hormones, they are specifically intended to cause a withdrawal bleed. And yes, since you started it while menstruating, it means you're going to have your period earlier than normal this time, but they...

Mono Linyah

In February, my pharmacy told me that the birth control I was on (sprintec) was back ordered. They offered mono-linyah (a generic equivalent) for me to use. Turns out, I liked mono-linyah way more than I liked sprintec. Now, however, my pharmacy is back to carrying sprintec. Does anyone know of any pharmacies that have mono linyah as a generic? ## They should be able to order the other one back in for you, if you ask them. However, if it costs more than the Sprintec, then your insurance would most likely only cover the lower amount and you'd have to pay the difference out of pocket. Additionally, without knowing your location, it's hard for anyone to make any suggestions. This website is open to people all over the world, so if you're located in Philadelphia and I suggest a ...

Starting Tri Sprintec

Hello, i an 18 year old and I was just prescribed Tri Sprintec to regulate my irregular periods. I have Hypothyroidism and Anemia (from prolonged heavy bleeding) I'm taking 88mg of Levothryoxine. My most recent period lasted for 31 days. I recently started my period again on Thursday and it is now Tuesday. When should I start taking my pills if I still have my period right now (it is light and the flow stops and starts randomly). My main reason for asked this is because in exactly 28 days I will be going on a 5 day camping trip and I don't want to have my period then. If I start my first pill today, will I have my period during my camping trip? Thank you! ## These tablets can be started at any time during your cycle, you just need to be aware that will not prevent pregnancy, unt...

sprintec missed pills, tried to catch up, then period started

I am taking sprintec for migraine prevention, not birth control. I typically take 3 months of active pills beck taking a week off to have a period. I missed 3 days in a row during my second pack of active pills. I tried to catch up by taking two a day, but it was too late and a full blown period started. So i stopped taking them in the hopes of letting the period run its course. It has been 5 days of (very) heavy bleeding now, with clots. I have stopped the pill for 3 days now. When should I restart, or should i see if bleeding stops? ## It really would have been best, according to FDA directions, to have continued taking them, this can happen if you miss to many in a row, but should resolve itself, once you complete your next cycle. Other side effects are listed as possibly including n...

how to stop this bleeding with my sprintec

I use sprintec because I am trying to get pregnant. I take it along with prenatal vitamins and b12. I started sprintec on the last day of my period which was November 17th. I took the pills every other day and I started spotting on November 24th. By November 29th the bleeding got heavier. Someone help me understand. I only took like 8 pills in total. ## Hello, Alexandra! How are you doing? Has there been any change? I have a couple of other questions for you. Why did you start it on the last day of your period? FDA directions state that it should be started the first, or second day of your period. My next question is why were you taking them every other day? The directions also state that they need to be taken every day, as close to 24 hours apart, as possible. Missing tablets, and taki...

Stopped sprintec after only a week?

I stopped taking my birth control sprintec after a week due to health issues but it has been three weeks since the last pill and still no period. I am four days late from my regular period and I was wondering when it should start. I did take a pregnancy test 2 days before my period should have started and it was negative. ## Hello, Stacey! How are you? Even though you only took it for a week, you likely threw off your natural hormonal balance, so it will probably take awhile, before things balance back out and return to normal. Other effects of stopping it may also include headache, weight changes, mood swings and irregular periods, as listed by the FDA. If there is no change, after a few more weeks, you should consult your doctor to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Y...
